McQuoid Outdoors And Lodging — Hotel in Minnewaukan

My father and I are avid fisherman who live by the motto that there is nothing better than a day on the lake. In October, 2016 we decided to take a trip out west to spend some quality time together. We’ve always wanted to fish the legendary Devils Lake in North Dakota and after doing a bit of research we landed on the McQuoid Outdoors website. Upon viewing the pictures of the amazing fish caught while under the guidance of Aaron McQuoid our mind was made up.

Before setting off on our trip Aaron he gave us fair warning that the weather might be a bit on the chilly side but being from Wisconsin we didn’t mind one bit. We met up with Aaron around 10am in the town of Minnewaukan where McQuoid Outdoors is based out of. We picked up some minnows from the local bait shop and hit the water straight away. Our day started off slow but every good fisherman knows that there are no guarantees when it comes to fishing. We put our trust in Aaron and made sure to follow the techniques he suggested. Not too long after we started pulling fish in the boat left and right.

We fished the lake until dark and had an absolute blast. After leaving the lake we went back into town to the McQuoid indoor fish cleaning shack. “Shack” is probably not the most appropriate term because this was hands down one of the nicest fish cleaning stations that I’ve ever seen. Aaron efficiently fileted our fish and packaged them up for our trip back home to Wisconsin. We had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. McQuoid who allowed us to cook some of our fish on the spot in their deep fryer.

I couldn’t think of a better way to end the day than to eat some fresh fish straight out of the lake! This was by far one of the most pleasurable days on our trip and we have decided that we will be returning to Devils Lake in the future to stay with McQuoid...
