Other people’s 5-star reviews on Under Canvas Moab site makes my 1-star rate look bad and unkind, but l just like to share the truth of my experience. My family of three were on a road trip from California and saw the beautiful pictures on its website. We chose a king tent suite for over $1,000 for the night. As a family, we have done many glampings in Safaris in Africa, Sahara Desserts White Oasis and jungles in Asia. So we are experienced in outdoor camping and understand what to expect from “glamorous camping”. Upon checkin at Moab site at 6:30pm after a long haul driving , the first thing the staff told us was there was no meal service even though there was a bbq pit etc. The only food they offered on additional charge was some snacks. We were too tired to drive to town so we went to bed empty stomached. But that’s our choice so no blame on them. Entering the tent, it had a king bed and private bathroom quarter, but it was no suite tent. My child’s tent is completely separated from mine, with no wash or toilet facilities. His twin bed was laid closely against the tent (canvas wall). I was so surprised because I thought I had paid $1000+ for a family suite tent. To that, the staff replied that I had been mistaken. When I pointed out that my tent was very close to the highway, he told me that he’d come back and move us to a one in the back, but he never came back. And this turned out to be a disaster later in the night. Turning on/off water, holding the faucet wire on /off with one hand or another … are all part of the camping eccentricities, and considerable actions for the environment, I understand all that although nothing glamorous about it. But I’m not going to complain. Then came to the sleeping time. The amount of noise from the highway traffic was deafening to say the least. There was mountains right in the back. They should have pitched the tents at the foot of that so the mountain walls can serve as a buffer zone for the gust winds and traffic noises. Outdoor camping is about tranquility and stargazing, isn’t it? The Moab site offers none of these. In the middle of the night, my son ran into my tent because the canvas wall of his tent kept slapping into face and head. We all got up and then I saw the earplugs on the table. My god, so they knew this place was noisy. Otherwise why on earth should they provide the earplugs? But they didn’t warn us! Nobody did even when they helped drop off our bags into our tent. We stayed awake whole night and couldn’t wait to leave as soon as the day broke. I love thé concept of glamping. And I believe they are doing a great job marketing. But it is a shame that they are not doing what they say or show on pictures. The gold standard of doing hospitality business is honesty. I’m so sorry to give one star but I truly wish Under Canvas do a better job.

If you're into camping, you'll probably love it! If you've never been camping, well... Read on. The bed was amazing, honestly. I have Fibromyalgia and sleeping in different beds can leave me in agony, but I woke up as comfortable as is possible for me. We had a suite, which includes a bathroom area. The drawback was the shower is a pull chain, meaning water only flows when you pull. This is a bit frustrating to use in and of itself, but it was made worse because the water starts off ice cold, but when the propane tank kicks on, it quickly becomes very, very hot. That's probably great for conservation, but it's not so fun for effectively cleaning one's self. The staff was very nice and helpful. The tent was clean and the couch was incredibly comfortable. They provide battery packs for charging phones and other devices. They even offer special batteries for using a CPAP if you need one. My husband used one of them and it worked fine to power his machine. The views are incredible. The sunrise over Arches National Park is a must - see, worth getting up early for. They partner with a local eatery to provide breakfast and lunch. You can even borrow a cooler to take lunch with you on day trips. I had the granola yogurt and fruit parfait, which was really good. However, it's not cheap, so just brace yourself. You don't want to keep food in your room unless it's in an air tight container. We had an adorable mouse visiting us, so I'm sure if you keep food or garbage out, you can expect mice. If you go during a time of year where the nights are still cold, be prepared to get up regularly during the night to keep the fire going. It was in the high 40s while we were there and my husband was up twice to tend the fire. The bedding is warm and comfortable but the fire was still needed, at least to us. And we live at 9000 feet in the Rockies so we're not exactly new to cold weather. However, the biggest drawback by far is the noise from the highway. They do provide noise machines, which is thoughtful. But it still can't fully mask the sound, which really ruins the illusion. We cut our visit short and checked into a hotel. It's really not a reflection of the accommodations, though. We basically just realized we're simply not the glamping sort. It was a unique experience that I'm glad we had, but one night was definitely enough!

If you are looking to experience total darkness, see shooting stars and the Milky Way then Under Canvas Moab is where you need to book your next trip. I can't say enough about this unique, amazing, peaceful, gem of a place. I live in Denver and took a road trip with my 20-year old daughter to drop her off at Oregon State University. I've never been to Arches NP or Moab and this was the perfect opportunity. I heard of Under Canvas from a co-worker and was intrigued by the concept and I always wanted to try glamping. Full transparency, I was shocked at the price but decided to indulge since this was a special road trip. This group and location EXCEEDED my expectations and I would happily pay the price again, and I will. We stayed in the safari tent and I'm really glad we did. Paying extra for the en suite bathroom wouldn't have been worth the extra cost. The shared bathrooms were clean, the towel 'closet' kept all sizes of towels stocked and WARMED and we never had to wait for one of the 6 bathrooms. Each bathroom is private and is spacious with your own sink, toilet, shower and all the toiletries you need. The space is thoughtfully designed with multiple towel and clothing hooks and a place to hold your personal items. Honestly, better than a hotel that never has a hook anywhere in the room or bathroom! Sometimes its the little things. ||The evening smores around any of the multiple campfires was a great evening treat. There was a guitarist playing who was fabulous as the gazillion stars awoke in the evening sky. Nothing better than nature, guitar playing, chocolate and seeing shooting stars. It was nice to quietly chat, meet other guest and hear where they came from. Throughout the property there are great lounging areas in the most comfortable couches, chairs and hammocks. Most areas have sail shades to provide some relief from the hot sun. This location didn't have a restaurant on property, but they did have three great BBQ areas with Weber gas grills guests could use, tables, and sail shades. If I were to stay longer than one night I would have brought food or quickly gone into downtown Moab (10 mins away) to the grocery store and used the grill.||The tents are beyond awesome. Each has their own wood stove with all the supplies needed to start a fire. I loved how the staff encourages guests to start the fire on their own, but if unsuccessful you can text the reception and they will come do it for you! Moab in early Sept did not need the stove, but I could see in other cooler locations how amazing it would be to use. The portable chargers they provide did a great job charging iphones, air pods, ipads and watches. Also in the tent is a small fan along with a lantern that you can take with you at dark to walk the property. Beds were so comfy, linens were better than most hotels and I had the best nights sleep! ||The staff was incredible. Sara emailed before I arrived with a welcome packet with everything we needed to know, followed up by a text the day before and day of. We were greeted by the reception staff with smiles and the feeling that they were waiting for us and couldn't be happier we arrived! They were available 24/7 and didn't say it under their breath. The amenities were beyond what I expected - coffee, hot chocolate, filtered water, smores and more were provided in the reception area. You could pay for great easy grab-and-go food and drinks as well. The coffee cart that was open 7a-10a hit the spot and was delicious. ||The highlight of the location is the stargazing area. The pathway and area is lined with tiny strings of red lights so you can lay on the ground in total darkness and take in all the shooting stars, Milky Way and breathe the mountain air. I could go on and on but I won't. I will leave you with this. You can tell this is a special place created by a special group of people who creatively came up with the perfect name Under Canvas. If you have the opportunity or pleasure to stay at one of their 13+ locations (and growing) DO IT. Don't hesitate. You won't regret it. I already have my next two locations picked out for next year, maybe even the end of this year. When I go will 100% be based on the availability at Under Canvas, because no other group is as amazing as Under Canvas. Happy...

We just visited and had such an incredible trip!!! Moab is spectacular and a stay at Under Canvas is well worth it.

The crew at Under Canvas Moab is amazing! They went above and beyond to make sure our visit was perfect. We arrived very late on a Friday and the night staff helped us get settled quickly and easily. After a long day of traveling with small children this was so helpful. Not only did we receive a warm welcome but they helped us get unpacked and settled in for the night. The next day they were on hand to help answer every and all questions for us. They have a vast, insider knowledge of the area and helped with tons of recommendations. We felt like we were staying with friends but also kind of like we had the place to ourselves. It was perfect!

The location of the property is ideal for adventures all over Moab. It’s at the doorsteps of Arches and very close to all that Canyonlands has to offer. It’s not right in town but close enough if you need supplies, or want to go shopping or grab a meal. The property faces palisades on one side with a spectacular view of the desert and the La Sal mountains on the other.

The first night we arrived they were sold out (we got the last tent) it was a Safari Tent (number 16.) That night was chilly and it was just fun to make a fire. For the next two nights we got a Deluxe Tent (number 10.) We were happy with the Safari but if you can upgrade to a Deluxe it’s well worth it! The Deluxes are slightly more secluded and have a toilet, sink, and pull handle shower. The shower is not a 5 star luxury tub-combo deal (because you’re camping) but if you have ever camped without a shower you know what a luxury it is to take a hot shower at the end of day.

The bed in the tents was surprisingly comfortable and warm. Our kids slept on cots and they were perfect. Sleeping bags and everything we needed were already in the tent, plus the cots have insulated bottoms to keep you warm. We brought our own blankets and that was nice. The tent got warm during the day but we opened the flaps and got a cross breeze. If you can Tent 10 is where celebrities like Neil Young and Matthew McConaughey have stayed while visiting. Chances are whichever tent you’re in your going to feel like a celebrity.

Here are the negatives: the property is not right in town so you will need to drive. However, this is also a pro because it’s truly more of a wilderness experience and the town of Moab can be really busy. The property is also on a busy road. The road did not bother us at all but it is something to consider. You can hear it. Also, if you are not prepared to be camping Under Canvas is not for you. You are in a tent. You will hear the wind and temperatures are whatever it is outside. We were prepared to be camping and LOVED the experience!!! Last negative is that you are most likely going to hear people at some point while you’re in your tent. This is NOT a hotel. It’s a group camping situation but it sure beats a regular tent.

I can’t say enough great things about this place and surrounding area. We are already planning a return visit to Moab as well as some of their other locations!!!!

P.S. set your alarm for the spectacular sunrises. Also keep your eyes peeled at night for shooting stars...

All of the services, amenities, accommodations, restrooms, etc....were comparable to a 4-star hotel, but outside in nature!! We stayed in the most luxe Safari Tent with King Bed (#14). It included the wooden raised floor under the tent and was most optimally located. We booked 2 nights, very last minute, so we were blessed that we could still secure this category ;) We loved the nightly campfire with smores....people gathered there and it was a very friendly environment. It would be nice if the corn hole, horsheshoe, party tent area would be adjacent to the campfire area, as to promote more of a social area for all, instead of having to walk to a different area that I wasn't even aware was there the first night. The new bathroom facilities (added in 2018) are conveniently located right in the middle of all of the standard/Safari tents. They were very clean and provide all of the necessities (towels/washcloths) and hot running water. I love the fact that this resort is solar powered to provide these essentials. So you have luxe features and still a feeling of "roughing it" in a tent atmosphere, along with being environmentally conscious! They'd even lend you a hairdryer, if you didn't bring one ;) They greet you and inform you of all of the features available to you. They haul all of your luggage/supplies from your car in the parking lot to your tent.(If you book a Suite tent, then you park closer to your area, maybe for some Deluxe tents too...but not sure) Then you call them on your day of departure for them to pick you up and return you and your goods to your car. They provide all of the wood, matches, kindling, starter block for your wood stove. Each nightstand has a charged lantern and tiny fan and a power pack charger with USB ports. There is also a "white noise" machine that helps greatly to block out any noises if it's windy around your tent, if your neighbor had a dog or babies, etc.... But otherwise, there aren't many other noises out here in the desert....no chirping, no crickets, or nightbirds,... There is daily housekeeping and they work really hard here to complete these tasks. This property does not have a kitchen/restaurant. So they have an order sheet prepared for you each night before 9pm so you can place your order for breakfast and lunch the next day. Delivered to your room, when you call to let them know that you're ready. The sky finally cleared and was pitch black on our last night....we got to see the Milky Way!! It was rather faint, but still visible. It's recommended to travel about 1/2 hour away for total dark skies. This resort is unfortunately right along route 191, so you can hear the highway noise in the distance and the car lights beam as they crest the hill in the northerly direction. The resort does their best to keep very low light on property with little solar lights along all pathways, but that too leads to more light in your eyes as you look to the sky......I found it best to just place my arms or some type of blocker right under my chin to block any ground light....that helped a lot to make the stars and sky more visible and darker. I would highly recommend "Glamping" here and I'd be delighted to return for the...
