I booked this hotel for the reasonable price and for its hot breakfast in the morning (advertised on the website). I check-ed in at 9:45pm and discovered that the lobby is locked until 7am (so you can't get breakfast until 7am). That is not useful for someone that has to check-out at 6:30am. So, I asked the desk clerk if I could get breakfast at night and just keep in the refrigerator. Unfortunately, he had no idea where any of the food was (beyond the cereal) and did not know where the key was to the refrigerator that had all the yogurt and milk for cereal. He also said there was nobody (including a manager) that he could call to find out where the key to the breakfast refrigerator was. This is incompetent or a lie (how could he not know a method to get in touch with his manager). I would not have stayed at this location had they advertised these breakfast hours (the Comfort Inns I have stayed at other locations routinely start breakfast at 6am).
To top this off, at 6:30am there was an employee in the lobby (door was locked) who was setting up the breakfast. Despite me showing her my room key and standing outside the locked door requesting to get some breakfast "to go", she would not let me in to get any breakfast.
Only other complaint was the hair that was in the shower (so shower not cleaned very well).
So, I was going to write this review immediately after it happened (mid-September). Despite the fact that I just stayed there (reviews must be written within 90 days), the system no longer accepted my confirmation code/last name to write a review. Trying to find the contact information to resolve this was an issue. I ultimately contacted Comfort Inn via Facebook and it took them 9 days to give me a new code that work (would be very interesting to know why my code/name would not work initially (are they intentionally trying to block...
Read moreThe inn was conveniently located near the airport. The staff appear to be okay, but the first person I interacted with configured my keycards wrong and had to go back to the front desk to correct them (was locked out of my room because they stopped working a few days in). Luckily, it only took a minute going back to fix it. The cleaning staff came by every two days and did their business without issue that I could tell. My room was located the furthest away from the airport, so I couldn't hear any air traffic really. Only some of the general car traffic near the road. The bed in the room was very comfortable and slept well each night and the temperature during February kept the room reasonable.
Only real complaint of the room is the shower head in the bathroom needs fixing. The water pressure that comes out is laughably low. It was tolerable at first, but somehow the water pressure took a dive and had to resort to taking baths instead. Finally, the complimentary breakfast they give out during COVID is terrible. The worst. A prepackaged burrito that you can get at any gas station, a granola bar, and a bottled water. If you look at the inn's pictures on google, you can see they had a full fledged complimentary breakfast area with all the usual fixings, but I guess they took advantage of covid to give customers a joke they call breakfast instead. After trying this once, I just started going to the local breakfast diners instead.
So all in all, it's not the worst spot. The shower head problem would be my biggest deal breaker while the rest are minor complaints, to be honest. While I am not opposed in staying here again, I will still consider other hotels in the area if I happen to come...
Read moreWe were simply looking for a decent hotel near Monterey, CA for a one night stay, off season, for a romantic overnight getaway.||This hotel turned out to be wonderful serendipity!||First, the hotel was easy to find.||Second, the delightful lady checking us in was most efficient, welcoming and had a great sense of humor too.||Third, the room was easy to locate in the large complex with parking directly in front for security.||Fourth, the hotel complex is located within a lovely forest and, although large, gives great peacefulness and privacy to each room.||Fifth, instead of the ice and drink machines being remotely located in some unsafe, dark, out of the way location far from our room, fully operating machines were located within steps of each room throughout the complex.||Sixth, the room was a surprise in several respects. The bed was unusually good and beautifully appointed with European bedding. The room was outstandingly clean and had a lovely balcony with two comfortable chairs. The glass door to the balcony was extra wide so you could leave it open and really bring the lovely fresh air from the outside into the room. The towels were extra thick and large. The was both a microwave and frig in the room and both were well above average quality and size. The TV channels included a channel guide and far more channels of programming than is usual in any hotels.||Seventh, breakfast was provided in a lovely...
