I recommend NEVER camping here.
We have had our family reunion at this campground for the last 3 or 4 years! It is a weekend we look forward to all year! We have loved it so much that this year we extended our stay to be 5 days instead of 3. BIG MISTAKE!! We ended up leaving early due to unnecessary harassment by management. Management is new this year and is on one heck of a power trip. We camp a lot and have never seen anything like it.
At first I was excited about the upgrade to full hook-up... that is until we arrived. They redid sites making them laid out horribly. To be able to use full hook up we had to give up about 10 foot of our campsite behind our rig. Not to mention our fire pit was under our awning and too close to the camper next to us to even use safely.
The middle area of the campground that used to be grass parking and such was turned into new campsites. A group of our kids wanted to play corn hole so they set up boards on 1 of 20 empty sites across from our site. Management came by and told them they can't play there and he was going to see about having them charged for the lot. If someone would have come to check in on that lot we would have moved, but this was an easy way to keep an eye on the kids. He also told us if they wanted to play they could go clear to the other side of the campground to do so; which is rediculous. Apparently, they just wanted something to ding us on.
Management likes to hand out warnings starting as early as 8:30pm and they like to bully you once you've been warned. Dan was instructed by Cindy to walk circles around our loop for hours one evening. Once some of our family members were warned everyone quieted down, but at that point they had their sites set and no voice level was acceptable. The next night they came after another site within our group. I've never seen anything like it.
I could go on, but what everyone needs to know is to steer clear of this campground while Cindy and Dan...
Read moreAlways a beautiful place to visit this park was originally my family settlement. So when you venture to the area take a look at the buildings and the monuments and dedications they speak volumes to the family that use to haul sand to the shore line and really how what you see today is a vision of what was started so long ago. We come together for Reunions here every year. During this time you might see us down by the shelters as you first enter, the beaches playground areas. You just never know where we are we are a Nation Within Itself we are known as The Old Settlers Reunion. Sharing the land also means sharing the heritage of the land and it's people. Enjoy the people who maintain it have been doing a great job from the bathhouse to the shelters, shore and the campgrounds it is amazing to see as I am a direct descendant of the Norman's. Thank you for working to keep the land in tact. I enjoy it each time I have came as a small child and now as an adult with a...
Read moreThe no-pet policy that applies to animals that don't step out of the RV is ridiculous. We booked there to visit with friends, who knew we had a cat, but didn't know about the policy. We passed signs that stated it but somehow didn't see them. After reading the campground rules and seeing the fines that can be assessed, and even being charged with a misdemeanor, we left early. Between the $35 state campground fee and the nightly fee, we wound up shelling out $100.00 a night. It's a beautiful park. It's sad that they don't care about catering to the 68 % of RVers who travel with their animals. Plenty of fake dogs were placed around to wade off geese from certain areas. Dog owners are very good about picking up after their fur babies, from what I've experienced in years of RVing. Our cat doesn't even go outside. What a...
