Was informed upon check-in, there was no laundry on a Wednesday then magically on a Friday after checkout, another guest requested quarters for laundry. Amazed that such a magical installation happened practically overnight during Hurricane Helene. What's the truth? If I was lied to, it's such a shame and not constant with the Hilton standards that this near Diamond member is used to.
When I checked in, I needed to do laundry because I had been traveling for a week & I wanted clean clothes before Hurricane Helene arrived since I was set to go home soon. I could have done laundry bwhioe i was waiting for my room to be ready. Instead Ibwas told by the front desk person, that they only had free breakfast and no guest laundry room. Since I am used to trusting Hilton, I believed her. I wenr about vmy work and did not notice the guest laundry sign. I am used to Hampton Inns having a guest laundry room. if it was out of order I would have understood.
This hotel doesn't have a generator and it was built in the 90s (it shows). I noticed the day manager according a fire department officer on Friday (hopefully to find out why the fire alarm had gone off the night before and/or to make sure the facility still had integrity given its age). He mentioned that hotels built after 2010!have generators. When we lost power the night before, there were no emergency lights. I am thankful for first responders and look forward to Hilton's next inspection as there are clearly operational opportunities for improvement and standards that need to be upheld. WARNING: if you stay here, study how to get out in case of emergency in total darkness (count the number of steps to a stairway etc .. because there was no guidance so you need to be prepared. Also, note that the hotel doesn't have a can opener in premises so please bring your own.
We will NOT stay here again due to this and many other reasons I won't go into. I travel about 300 days a year and this experience ranks in the bottom 5 percent of my travels.
I have added pictures of some of the other lodging where you will find a better experience.
I appreciate it when businesses make it easy for me to tell what level of service to expect. Mt. Dora is a CUTE town and THIS RED FLAG HOTEL is out of contention for my upcoming family reunion, alumni get-together and birthday celebration. Instead I will direct my business to more customer friendly establishments. I am thankful for the many other Mt. Dora businesses that wowed me with their excellent customer experiences. It would have been a shame for someone to leave with a negative impression of this delightful town based upon a bad lodging experience. It's very telling that day manager mocked my observations about the guest laundry room to a front desk employee.I am used to dealing with customer,-focused hospitality employees who try to have happy customers and apologize for any misunderstanding.
TIP: There's a large depression at the light to enter the hotel so please drive around it. During my stay, it was full of water. Thankfully, I checked out before the bugs took over.
Another TIP: turn at the light because Google Maps will lead you into the overgrown with weeds...
Read moreRecently stayed at this Hampton Inn while visiting Mt. Dora on 6/28 for one night. The inn is clean and modern, however, upon arrival there was no one available to check us in. I waited several minutes before another staff member went into an office and had someone come out. During the night around midnight a shrieking alarm went off which kept us awake ALL NIGHT! Sleep was impossible and it was still going when we went down to breakfast the morning of 6/29. I went to the front desk to mention our sleepless night to the young lady there and she apologized and promised the price of the room would be comped, and I would receive email confirmation of that refund. It's only been a few days, but I am still waiting for that to happen. It was my first visit to Mt. Dora and the first time I'd chosen to stay at a Hilton Property. I wish I could say we had a great experience and a good night's sleep. The room, the bed and linens, and the breakfast the following morning were great but after hours on the road with no staff at the front desk so we could get to our room, and the miserable night rather spoiled things. When we left, there was water literally pouring gallons from a pipe on the side of the hotel and the area near the parking lot flooded. Cars had to give the water a wide berth when leaving the lot. Still waiting for confirmation...
Read moreAlthough I can say the staff did what they could, I believe they could have been more helpful. |We checked into the hotel and got settled in our third floor room. We left for a family get together and when we returned the elevator was broken. They had no idea when it would be fixed and I cannot climb 3 flights of stairs. We asked if they would help us find other accommodation but they said they weren't allowed. The lobby was not air conditioned and the temps outside were high 90's so as my husband was trying to figure out how we were getting our things out of the room and trying to make sure we got a refund from this hotel for our 2 nights, I was sitting trying to find a hotel close that had a room. We did finally find a place one town over. As my husband tried to get the manager to give him a receipt showing the refund, the young man working the desk said he would help get our things down. I sat in this hot lobby with no one offering me anything to drink and it was apparent I was in distress. I did finally get a look at the refund as my husband loaded the car.|We later were told that this hotel was getting ready for a complete renovation. Doesn't matter to me I'll not stay there, and as a Hilton Honors member I stay at these hotels...
