We booked 4 units in the 'lodge' this past weekend. (4 couples - some with children) (Units A, B, C, and D). We had a great experience. Units A and D are larger than B and C. The units are older and rustic, but had hot showers and a full kitchen if you wanted to cook (we chose to eat at the wonderful restaurant just yards behind these cabins and the food was amazing). In my cabin, we had two adults and three big teenagers. We will definitely rent a cabin here again, but we will probably try a bigger cabin next time to accommodate my group of 5. Housekeeping was great and provided us with clean towels the next morning. Staying in Unit C reminding me of being at summer camp. There are picnic tables and BBQ pits right outside your front door. There is also plenty of parking right next to your cabin so you don't have to walk far to unload your car. We loved staying in this campground because you could get in your car and drive right down the road (you could probably walk, but we chose to drive) to the beautiful swimming hole (bluffs and all). My kids were also able to fish at this swimming hole and they caught several small mouth bass. If you love camping, this place is wonderful. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I thought that the price ($90 a night) was extremely reasonable for a cabin on the river. We will definitely stay At Buffalo Point Cabins and Concessions again. I loved the convenience of staying on the river. It made our trip so much fun. (Again, I would rent Unit A or Unit D (these two are a little bigger than B and C). Bring your own pillows/or extra pillows. We also brought a fan (there is a window unit, but we like it very cold at night) and we brought sleeping bags that we used as covers for the futon and the roll-away bed. There is a full-size refrigerator/freezer to store all of your ice and food. Dish-washing soap is provided, but bring paper towels. The kitchen also comes with knives, other utensils, plates, and coffee cups/coffee maker. All of these units have a nice back porch where you can hang your wet clothes/towels and also view the woods and the river. We forgot to bring our foldable lawn chairs, so I have that on my list for next time so that we can sit on the back porch and enjoy the view. Excellent place to stay for those that enjoy the outdoors...
Read moreTo begin our family has been camping here every year for 30 years. Unfortunately things are starting to go downhill. For one our site D69 has not been maintained. There is 2 inches of mud where you need to walk from your vehicle to camper to picnic table. Not a big deal if it's dry but after two solid days of rain it's a terrible mess. There are safety concerns as well. Along the same pathway there is a very large Rock which is part of the wall that sticks out by itself around 6 inches. Yes you'll find it with your little toe in flip flops or sandals. On the top stair going to the picnic table there is a very serious trip hazard. Any gravel or support has been washed away leaving a timber exposed about 3" tall. Perfect to trip and fall down the stairs. I was very concerned about my 58 year old self as well as my pregnant daughter-in-law tripping and flying down the stairs. Not to mention several smooth slick uneven large rocks at the top of the stairs too. But the real reason I'm writing this review is due to the lack of concern from the camp host when it comes to intervening between inconsiderate glampers. We had a 5th wheel directly opposite of our campfire that turned their service lights on each night for their camping friends to see on a different site that literally blinded us. They left it on till 11pm. We had to hang a tarp from the trees so we could see our campfire and not be blinded. The lights from the 5th wheel literally lit up half the campground around us. I wish I was exaggerating. I asked the host to drive by later that night to check on it and he declined. I wish I took pics. The year before a half hour before quiet time a camper came and told us we were being to loud and he didn't think we would quiet down by quiet time. We had about 30 of our family camped in the same circle so yes we were having fun and laughing, but we know quiet time and we disperse at 10. We found out later that same couple had nosed through our campsite earlier that day. So I'm probably not going back. I.just hope this helps someone to make their decision....
Read moreWe stayed with friends in the duplex, cabins 13 and 14. The views down the valley and of the river were amazing. A storm rolled in and there was a rainbow. We got to see great lightning as well and once the sky was clear the stars were phenomenal with it being so dark out there.||||The cabin was large and pretty clean. The deck was great, although narrow. We had a relatively new stove and microwave in our cabin, but our friends had older appliances in theirs. Not everything on the checklist of kitchen items posted in the cabin was actually there, but our friends had it in their cabin for us to borrow. The biggest issue was the bathroom. The toilet paper dispensers were like those in a gas station and they simply did not work. The roll would not move. The soap dispenser at the sink was empty. For as large as the cabin is the bathroom is TINY. The shower is literally not big enough to turn around in. I don't understand why they'd make the bathroom so small. It was really a challenge to use. Our friends had screens in their doors to get a good breeze going through the cabin, but ours did not have screens.||||The outside space was nice with picnic tables and fire pits at each cabin. These cabins are at the end of a road, past the restaurant and were super quiet. The restaurant is currently closed so it might have been noisier with more traffic if that was open. But for us it was beautifully quiet and peaceful. We would stay here again for sure, but I'd love to see the...
