I should start with saying I pass Muleshoe on my business trips from time to time and since I usually check in at around 1am and back on the road by 8am, I just pick the cheapest option to lay my head. This time Irish Inn happened to be the cheapest so I gave it a shot. ||Step by step experience: ||- 1am check in experience was better than in the other local hotels. While the gentleman checking me in was a bit sleepy, he was very polite and professional, so I got the keys to my room||- when I got to my room's door is was not locked (not wide open but the lock was in the unlocked state). this was the first piece in the string of experiences - none of which was terribly shocking (like finding a cockroach stories I heard from my colleagues staying in other hotels) but altogether created an overall sloppy experience||- when I entered my room, 2 lamps were in the disassembles state - the stand was separated from the shade and the screw (the latter were sitting on the working desk and the armchair respectively). So I had to reassemble them - a 30 seconds task, but not the one hotel should delegate to its guests||- the bed looked like it was not changed after the previous guest but no explicit signs that it was dirty - just a gut feel of someone who spent 200+ in the hotels over the last few years and knows how the fresh lines typically look like - so I went to bed||- when I woke up next morning, I found a foreign coin next to my pillow - potentially supporting my gut feel that the bed was not changed after the last guest (as it's much easier to believe a guest accidentally dropped it there than to assume that a local maid accidentally dropped a foreign coin)||- the bathroom experience pretty much met my expectations so not much to be said here||- and finally when I arrived to the breakfast area, I found (a) a barber's chair just next to the counter with juices, bread etc. - while it looked clean it was unusual to see this chair next to the food area (b) the food was not arranged in a way convenient for the guests to pick it up - e.g. bread slices were still in the manufacturer's plastic bag stuck inside the mini-fridge. Again nothing serious - took me little efforts to remedy it but just unusual inconvenience compared to other local...
Read moreHonestly, I had low expectations of this place. The town itself is horrible, definately a working town. Nothing about the town will ever be reccomended.
However, this was the only place that showed up on Hotels.com and its the first hotel you come to when you come into the town from Lubock.
I normally have a "inside access" only policy. I dont like hotels that you can enter the rooms from the outside, its a thing for me. This hotel does have inside access, so that was a huge plus for me.
The hotel itself does smell of some intense spices outside of the room, but the rooms themselves were fine. The beds were compfortable, considering if you go to a Holiday Inn Express now they are sleeping on boards, these beds actually gave you some cushion. They also had a matress pad on them, which was surprising. The TV was nice, larger than some of your 3 star chain places, also had direct tv. Had a nice desk for working on, but my favorite part about the hotel was the internet speeds. They had a few wifi's to connect to, so they split the traffic well. I was getting around 200~250 mbps at the place, which really surprised the hell out of me. I was able to stream some video games without lagging at all.
The complaints I do have is the toiletries. If you stay here, bring your own shampoo and soap. They give enough shampoo for 1 shower, but dont have conditioner. They also give you a half bar of soap that was just enough to get the job done.
Other than that, my experience was great. If I have to go back to Muleshoe, I will stay there again no doubt. Perfect for when you're...
Read moreThis property is seriously in need of updating. Bills itself as newest & best in town, and, given the town, it might be but that isn't saying much. The window screen looked like someone had cut it trying to get in, the sheer window curtain was shredded, and the carpet had the impression of a hot iron dropped on it. The motel was almost empty but the manager chose to put someone in the room right next to ours. I saw a bug that could have been a cockroach on the bathroom wall. The bedsheets were wrinkled, probably from sitting in the dryer too long, but looked as though they'd been slept on. The armchair had no support so when I sat on it I felt like I'd go all the way to the floor. The room seemed pretty clean and that was the only thing that made it tolerable. The area that would usually be the front desk/reception area was closed off--looks like part of Manager's living quarters--and guests have to go to a window in the front hall, ring a bell, and do business with the manager through a window like a teller's window. I had to ring again in the morning and wait for the owner to come out so I could get a copy of my bill. There is an ice machine but the supposed vending machine had a few sad looking bags of something and might not have been functional. In general only the minimum effort has gone into the property and there is no sense of home away from home and no...
