Quick tips and guide to your visit:
All sites are rv and tent camping. The rule is 1 rv and 1 tent or 2tents.
All sites contain: a tent pad (gravel, would suggest foam pads for under tent) a pull in area big enough for a standard RV or pull behind and vehicle. A concrete fire pit A park styled grill A picnic table Electric and water connections And an off site “no potable water” dump site for rvs.
Also! Plenty of trees for hanging hammocks and keeping the majority of the sites shaded! There is also a playground area directly behind site 45 as well.
Sites are about $40 a night depending on season.
There is 2 bath and shower houses in the campground and they feature 6 single use unisex bathrooms with shower, toilet, sink, and changing tables. Each building has a handicap equipped stall. Those being my favorite. I waited till after dark to use the showers and the handicap had a handle shower head(pictured). I preferred this over the regular shower head. The bathrooms are cleaned daily from 12-1 and they are the best camp ground facilities I’ve used and very clean. The water is hotter at night as well and but very warm when day showering. Just don’t forget your shower shoes!
I stayed at camp site 45. It was closest to the bathroom and the enter/exit road. This camp site seemed to be perfect to me! It was also all one level. Some camp sites with the natural elevation had steps down to the tent pad.
Diamond mining:
You will want to have buckets, screens and shovels, small container for what you find and a cart to pull everything as a minimum. They rent supplies but if you are going more than one day it’s ALOT cheaper to buy in town at the hardware store and also get some tips on mining. $15 per person for entry into park they close at 4pm. $15 for each screen They rent carts too but I don’t know the price. I brought all my own equipment.
There is a class daily(check schedule upon arrival) for tips, tricks and information about the park/mining.
They also feature a swimming pool but it was closed when I was there. I have no information about that.
Overall: fantastic camp ground, fun time digging for stones and definitely worth the trip. Just make sure you plan ahead of time!! The only swimming close by is the pool for those...
Read moreThis past weekend, we had the chance to visit the Crater of Diamonds in Arkansas, and the experience was more memorable than I could have imagined. The scenic drive itself was a surprise. Winding through the Boston Mountains, I couldn’t help but notice how vibrant and green everything was. Rolling hills, tall pine trees, and wide-open views stretched out in every direction. It felt like a hidden piece of beauty waiting to be discovered. When we arrived at the Crater of Diamonds, the excitement of possibly finding a gemstone added an adventurous spark to the day. Walking the fields and digging into the soil gave me a deeper appreciation for how unique this park really is. It’s one of the only places in the world where the public can search for and keep real diamonds. We did not find the diamonds but we did find quartz crystal and some small and big stones to bring home. Even though the thrill of finding diamonds was a highlight, what stood out most to me was the peacefulness of being outdoors. The combination of fresh air, green landscapes, and the excitement of discovery made it a truly unforgettable trip. I left Arkansas with more than just the memory of the search—I left with a reminder of how refreshing it is to spend time in nature and explore places you don’t often see. The staff were very friendly. We will definitely be coming...
Read moreWont be going back unfortunately, the camp sites were very nice, I just wish we were informed that the laundry and other restroom had been demolished. We had no idea and were planning on doing our laundry there. Also I wish we had been given a map of the campsites so we knew when the one existing restroom was rather than driving aroundto find it. Finally it was rather irritating that right next to the restrooms was a camp that had 3 large aggressive dogs that the owners didn't keep leashed half the time. Scared me and my service dog badly when we walked by the first time as an unleashed one bull rushed us and from then on we had to drive there to be safe since we couldn't go to the other restroom. Even after I called and told the staff nothing was done about it, we ended up leaving and staying in a hotel 2 nights early...
