This is a great hotel with friendly staff. Breakfast is actually really good but does get old after an 8-night stay. Plenty of parking. The room was mostly clean when we arrived. I say "mostly," because there were sheets and a blanket folded up in the pull-out couch. We took the sheets off the pull-out and threw them in the corner. We asked the front desk for a set of sheets, blanket, and pillow for the pull-out, which in most other hotels has always been found clean, wrapped in plastic so that we know it's clean, and in a closet in the room. No big deal. |However, the one big issue that we experienced was our room not being cleaned. Out of 8 nights, our room was cleaned twice. There was one other day that the housekeeper stopped by to ask if we needed anything. We had to continuously ask the front desk for towels, toilet paper, etc. On the last night, I went down to let Tristan (who deserves a raise) know that we needed towels, toilet paper, and a large trash bag, as our trash was piling up and starting to smell. She was extremely helpful and apologetic. I explained that we did spend a lot of time in our room, and it's understandable if housekeeping did not feel comfortable entering our room, but they still should have knocked. After speaking with someone else in the hotel, we know we were not the only ones. That is pretty much my only complaint, but it's a big one. The gym is pretty nice. We did not use the pool, but it is pretty small. I also found it odd that we were not asked about our stay at checkout. They just took our room keys and asked if we wanted a receipt. |Another note: The description of "extra living space" is deceiving. There is a very small half-wall that separates the beds from the couch. There is not separate area to get away and focus on...
Read moreI am sharing my recent experience at the Holiday Inn Express in Murphysboro, which was highly disappointing. I strongly advise against choosing this hotel and recommend finding alternative accommodations.
The room I was given had bedbugs. Despite switching rooms after being bitten, I still found them crawling on the pillowcases and sheets, which made for a sleepless and uncomfortable night. Even after informing the management, they showed no urgency in addressing the issue and were dismissive.
Furthermore, I discovered that the sheets on my bed had not been laundered, as they were wrinkled and had an unpleasant odor. This is a serious breach of basic hygiene standards and reflects a concerning level of negligence on the part of the hotel staff.
To make matters worse, no attempt was made to offer a room change or compensation. This hotel needs to meet cleanliness and customer care standards. The bedbug issue and reused sheets are serious concerns, and the unprofessional staff added to my dissatisfaction. I strongly recommend considering other accommodations to avoid the stress and disappointment I...
Read moreStayed here for the last weekend of June for my dad’s wedding in Carbondale. Everything was okay UNTIL… My son’s tablet was stolen out of the room. A house keeper came in our room while we were at the wedding all day. We only know because they replaced the towels in the bathroom and made 1 of the beds. They didn’t take the trash out or anything else. The tablet was sitting right on the night stand by the bed we purposely left if there because we didn’t want him playing on his tablet at the wedding. After reading reviews this is not the first time someone has had stuff stolen. I find it funny that another girl had her laptop stolen from her room. We tried to get help but the lady at the front desk just brushed it off and said “we will keep our eyes out for it” that’s all, nothing else. So I had my wife go back in and talk to them and they took her adress and info and said if the tablet comes up they will try to send it in the mail. Yeah right. They have meth addicts and drug users working here so I’m not really surprised honestly. Good thing I didn’t bring my laptop to get...
