I was staying at this hotel because I am down there working. The first room which was 109 I was bitten by bed bugs all over my body. I called the hotel and explanied to them that I was bitten with no attitude. They said they would go check it out. Great I thought! They called the other guy I was rooming with and told him they moved all of our stuff/ belongings. They did not ask us if it was ok to touch our things. It made us a little upset without getting our permission. We got back to the hotel after work and asked if we could check the room to make sure they didnt leave anything behind. They said they found nothing as for bed bugs. We go to our old room and walk in and it is hotter than hell in the room. The girl at the front desk said they were going to have someone come out and exterminate the room. I asked to speak to the GM of the hotel to express my concern and nothing was done. We didn't get a break on price or even an apology at that. They said someone would call me, has never happened. So my family came down and we got the suite. I walk upstairs and it reeks of marijuana. I have children with me also. I go down stairs and tell the hotel staff and once again nothing is done. They continue to rent rooms to loud people that listen to music outside our window and use drugs. Then I left my pillows in the room when I left and checked out. That was my fault. I asked them about them and one started to lie and know absolutely nothing. I asked a second one and she was honest and said they are still up there. I asked to get them. We walked up and they were going to keep them they took my pillow cases and put theirs on them. Kind of shady! Never recieved my pillow cases with 600 thread count comfortable Egyptian cotton made in heaven. This is true lol. I would hate to spread the word about this hotel to my fellow pipeliners and take away business. They don't want to remedy a situation what else am I supposed to do. So if you believe you want to correct this please contact me my number is on file under this name that is posted. I hardly believe this will happen. You people are never wrong when someone posts a review. You are all scum bags. Cant wait until karma gets you. I bet it...
Read moreI've given a 3-star rating which some might see as a criticism, but to me 3-stars means "average" and is a perfectly acceptable place to stay. ||||I chose the New Martinsville Inn because it has one advantage over the others. It sits on the river and has a view of the locks. Immediately behind the hotel on both sides of the railroad tracks (we never saw or heard a train) there is a long grassy park-like area with a few benches and picnic tables. In this town where entertainment options are limited, this is a nice place to sit and enjoy watching passing boats and river traffic. It would also make a good place for kids to toss around a ball or a frisbee.||||I'd stayed here in the past but it had been a few years. At one time this was an Amerihost. It still carries the Amerihost sign at the road and I didn't see any sign that said New Martinsville Inn. Its the brick building beside the shopping plaza. The reviews made me somewhat nervous. I chose this place anyway and had no problems. ||||There is nothing fancy about the New Martinsville Inn although it does have a nice pool and hot tub. The desk clerk was not overly chatty but she was efficient which was the thing that mattered. Our room on the first floor was clean and quiet with a fridge and microwave and a TV that had plenty of channels to choose from. The A/C pumped out cold air. There was a nice arm chair - always a more comfortable place to sit than on the bed. A Bob Evans and a McDonald’s are convenient right next door. The two beds in our room #101 did not match. One was very firm and the other was much softer so we had our pick. The bathroom sink was scratched but it worked. Our plumbing made a hilarious noise like a fog horn whenever we flushed. We found it an appropriate sound being beside the river and it offered us some laughs. If these sort of things bother you, you should pay more and go to one of the newer hotels. But otherwise, this place was quiet and clean, offered us the advantage of a place to watch river traffic, and was a much...
Read moreWhat is there to say I'll show you.... 3/25/19 In response the owners reply this was the second room we were given because the first room had what looked like dog hair on the bed the sheets were ripped and comforter stained. So we called down and she gave us a room downstairs. On our way down stairs we passed a couch in the hall way for guests to sit on. It looked like someone had taken a bag of trash with coffee grounds mixed in emptied it smeared it in and swept it up. You can find a better couch at Goodwill for 40$ easy. When there is an issue with wallpaper then all the rooms should have been checked because both rooms had the issue. I also had more photos but don't see them anywhere. This includes the torn up lamp, the dirt and stains all over the recliner , the dirt caked in the corners abd edges of the floor, the years and years build up of dust on the ceiling hanging from it, the stained up old sink, and the ceiling over the shower that was patched and looked like it was going to cave in on me. Granted the water was hot and the lights worked so I'll give you that. But to charge 100$ for all that??!! I would of gladly paid less to stay at the travelers inn right down the road that is said to be way cleaner. As far as the flat screens in the suits there will be no next time. We did take our problem to the front desk after a long day of working and yes, after midnight. Do you know how frustrating that is. We worked 14 hours hard dirty work and ended up in a place where we we're afraid to even touch the bed, floor, shower etc etc.... You make excuses for everything and obviously do not handle the problems. If you look back in your reviews these same complaints have come to your attention. You're not taking these seriously. And you can't tell me I didn't stay there because I did take pics, otherwise you would of said "I'm sorry but your name never came up in our guest list" take your guests into consideration. They are the ones keeping you...
