K&M Bison Lodge & Outfitters — Hotel in New Rockford

Had to call the desk dude since the bell apparently didn't work. The quoted price was given after questioning the price he tried to charge us when we checked in, on the phone we were quoted 69 a night, he wanted 83 per night but dropped. To be fair, the regular manager was gone on death in family leave. The room was warm. There were black spots on the pillow cases, not sure what that was. A large burned spot in the middle of the well worn carpet. Only one hard wooden chair in the room. When we plugged in the fridge it was so loud we immediately unplugged it once again. The wall around the air conditioner was damaged and looked bad. No hangers in the closet, well no closet to mention just a bar across a small alcove. Two beds, one queen another 3/4, we only needed one and it was comfortable, so sleep was OK. The TV was an old 13 inch CRT that showed it's age with barely watchable reception but that was OK to as we didn't watch much more then the news and weather. They say it is under new management, and it needs a LOT of work before it is anywhere near the cost of a nights stay. We stayed in this same motel in 1989 when I interviewed for a job in the town, the room looked exactly the same, probably the same carpet, but the manager was much nicer then back in '89. My recommendation, stay down in Carrington and drive up to New Rockford, I know that's what I will do if I ever come back for another visit. Since we were in town for a funeral, and wanted to be close to family we decided to stay despite the room condition, were it a pleasure trip I assure you we would never have stayed. We were lucky enough to run into Matt and Kim at the game fair last year. They told us about their guided snobear fishing adventures and we couldn’t resist. We were not disappointed they worked hard to put us in the best spots they knew of on devils lake, and to top it off they provided a clean warm place to stay after a long day of fishing. Their lodges are spacious and cozy. I am happy to say the water was clean and clear, so do not worry about the review before. The town water system has been repaired. Went to the office and had to ring a bell and one person came and didn't know what was going so he got another person who was unsure also I felt. It was 5:00 and we wanted to go to the room immediately and we're told the beds hadn't been made yet so we had to wait for them to do that. The front desk was very disorganized and I felt like they weren't real enthused about anybody being there. When they made the beds they didn't even turn the air conditioner on before they left so we had to wait over an hour before it got cool in the room and the TV was an old style TV, the shower head barely trickled so I definitely give this a one or...
