I booked at HoJo's because I was able to get a rate under 80$ per night for a 5 night stay through Agoda. That is only slightly higher than the semi-nasty 1 and 2 star hotels (some I have reviewed here on Google) I have been forced to book for my work trips. HoJos is leaps and bounds better than those other hotels that are only slightly cheaper. Howard Johnson by Wyndam is located a stones throw away from Newark Airport. Planes constantly pass low over the hotel to land. I'd say every 2 minutes. I never made it from my car to the front entrance without seeing one go over. Once inside, I was suprised how little I heard them considering how close they are. The Crown Inn motel as a comparison is much much louder than this hotel. Check out my review. The hotel is clean, quiet and kid friendly. There is a convenience store downstairs. The week I stayed his hours were listed as 9-4 but I saw him there after 5 some nights. He has all the essentials. Candy, tv dinners, frozen treats, toiletries, hygiene products. I was particularly impressed that he only stocks the store with frozen products that fit in the small, room sized microwaves. Likewise all the frozen goods fit in the small freezer section in your room fridge. I know this may seem minor but nothing is more frusterating than buying popcorn to pop and the microwave is too small for it to spin. If you lose your bag at the airport he has enough to get you by down to underwear and socks. The restaurant and gym were both closed the week I stayed. Private, secure, level free parking was available. Be sure to turn your radio down and really listening to the GPS when you are getting close to the hotel. It is easy to miss a turn and if you do your GPS will go from 1 min to 16 minutes. Once you know how to get in and out it is actually pretty smooth.

The hotel is situated very close to the Newark Airport, NJ. However considering the amenities available I rate the hotel 3 star. Rooms and services were okay and very noisy at night. They don't offer breakfast 😒 as part of the package and a small restaurant is there at the hotel with limited menu options. However the food they make is pretty good and fresh. I stayed in the hotel for 3 days, and had my breakfast and dinner from the restaurant. Please note that the hotel has smoke restrictions and there is a designated area outside the hotel for those who would like to have one. If you caught smoking inside your room or hotel you will be charge for $250 and so on. A small shop run by a lady is inside the hotel that sells necessary commodities and souvenirs. Also a vending machine is available in the lobby for non-alcoholic beverages. You will not get any alcohol in the hotel or nearby area, so make sure you get it from outside before you check in. Airport shuttle is free from the hotel, however to reach Penn station Newark, you either get an Uber or Lyft, that cost you $9-15 depending on the time.

Rarely do I leave negative reviews but this place was so horrendous that I must warn others of this horrible place. My flight was canceled and I had to find a hotel at 10 o’clock at night and most everything else was booked so I’ve found this. When Uber dropped me at the front, I see several sketchy people loitering out front and smoking. One of them proceeded to bang a shoe at the glass at me when I was inside at the desk. The room itself was the most disgusting hotel room I have ever been in. Entire place smelled like cigarette smoke. The room was moldy, windows were filmy and dirty. It wasn’t until the morning that I realized the window wouldn’t even close all the way, which was why it was so loud. I honestly did not feel safe here as a woman traveling alone. I think the hotel is used a some sort of low income housing. Seemed like these guests lived here. Not at all what was presented on the website. Oh yeah, they bill themselves an airport hotel, but they don’t even have a shuttle to the airport. Avoid this place all costs.

read this before your booking.... where do i start? prior arriving i did look at the reviews, and was disgusted at what i read but it was too late to cancel. so i went on faith and based my own opinions ( they’re many ).

the service : the service is scrappy, from the front desk , the complimentary shuttle, the separate restaurant staff. the smell was horrible, strong and sick. restaurant prices seem to be “ irreasonable “ asked for a container for my food- 2 containers are $1 dollar TF? and hot sauce is .50c ( fifty-cent ) $2 for A tea bag!!!! the appearance of the hotel is very old. the hallway and lobby smell of smoke even tho they’re no smoking signs posted everywhere..

the staff : they act as if they annoyed by your questions. they don’t greet you as you leave or arrive . barely speak. or acknowledge your presence.

the room : housekeeping did clean our room daily. one problem we had was with the towels they are so stingy with the towels the lady even refused to give us clean towels ( even tho she did bring us towels )

the location : there is NOTHING in walking distance of this hotel. it’s right next to a big parking lot filled with trucks and brandnew Toyota’s... about 10 mins from the airport but you do have to wait for the shuttle who runs every 30 mins and sometimes longer than that.

don’t let the cheap price fool you into staying. you really do get EXACTLY what u paid for but for the price we paid i would have liked to see at least a SMILE and expected some GOOD SERVICE!

i’m not going to say there aren’t any BedBugs or Roaches but on my stay for 6 days i didn’t see a Roach or bedbugs in my room. now they’re was some knats( fruit flies ) i saw one come out the Microwave!!!

i wouldn’t recommend this hotel to my...

on the other hand.  You are very rigorous and very strict with my case.  where they decided to block.i account.  I will tell you.  In my last hotel reservation on the 9th of this month of March, 2024. I made a reservation at the Howard Johnson hotel in Newark Elizabeth New Jersey.  where it lasted 3 hours waiting for the airport bus pick-up to the hotel.  after managing to activate on my cell phone.  The rouming application for calls within the United States.  I managed to call the hotel.  where I wonder where your airport pick up bus is.  and they told me that they already provide that service.  and after so much waiting and requesting an UBER transportation service.  I was not able to communicate because UBER services cannot pick up passengers in the pick-up area of people who receive service from hotels through buses.  and after receiving the help of the bus driver who took me.  to the entrance door of the Howard Johnson hotel parking lot.  with a lot of rain and cold on that day.  I managed to walk to the entrance to the hotel lobby.  where they later assigned me a room on the third floor.  very far from the elevator area.  And surprise, the room was leaking a lot of water as a result of the amount of rain that was falling that day.  To be so demanding you should also be so with the people or hotel businesses that you represent.  There are many cases where I have been involved within China.  when I choose hotels through their ctrip platform.  and I have never been involved in claiming the need for reimbursement of expenses incurred by me.  Since I know how tedious and annoying it is to receive the money.  after having charged it to...
