I stayed here for two nights so I will try and give a balanced evaluation of the hotel. I was looking for a hotel that is not expensive and a hotel within driving driving distance to Liberty State park to catch a ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and Expedia brought this hotel up and so I booked it. Here are my thoughts of the Hotel: Pros: 2 night for cheap; a great deal for such a busy weekend! The hotel is near the airport, which is a very good place to stay. It is also within driving distance to major places such as Manhattan and other New Jersey cities. This hotel is 16 minutes to Liberty State park and the Hudson area. It is considerably clean when we entered the room. The customer service was wonderful; the women at the front desk talked calmly and professionally. There's free shuttle ride that leaves the hotel every 30 mins or so to the airport where you can also catch a bus or train to NYC and other locations. Free Wifi and TV. There was a smaller fridge which was awesome. The restaurant closes late so its an alternative to eating out, although we were so tired to go there and eat. We ordered Chinese food to our room. The driver delivered it to us at the lobby. Cons: No breakfast for us! It is not included in their online pkg, so I was told to pay at the desk inside the Cafe after or before breakfast. That was sucks, I didn't see that coming. No microwave so we had to go downstairs looking for one. Parking is $16.50, who does that to customers? If you plan to drive out of the premise, you must update your ticket - which slows things down. The machine will take your ticket and then you'll have to get a new one when driving in, else you'll pay extra cash when checking out. The hotel is situated outside of the Newark International airport so all access roads have tolls: if you don't have a EZPass transponder, you'll have to pay tolls by cash on you way in and out of the hotel. This is sick especially if you wanna go out for dinner or shopping multiple times. It is hard to find or to get to so you must have a GPS. Filling in the bath tab is extremely loud; I joked with my friend that it sounds like a waterfall lol. The tab was extremely slow to drain so we had to get out before it filled up. When the water drained, the tab collected all kinds of hair, dirt etc. The shower head was quite lose so water shoots out of it in all direction when taking a shower. I observed the ceiling paints peeling off as a result. Room service was terrible: I put out the "Pls don't disturb" sign outside our door because we woke up late, and after 9 am I remove the sign and put it inside the left the room. We returned around 6-7 pm and found our room in the same condition when we left in the morning - no one dared to check or vacuum as with other hotels. I left cleaners zero tip! WiFi was okay, but not the fastest. I will not stay here again, but for travelers in and out of Newark Airport, or if you are stuck in Newark or late to your flight, this is a good place to stay. My own experience doesn't make this hotel...
Read moreLet me start with we were out for the day and when we returned in the evening, the bathtub looked like someone had thrown dirty mop water in it . dirt and debris in there! Secondly I had left my daughter suitcase underneath the restroom sink. It was completely soaked clothing and shoes were all wet! No there was not a leak in the sink, and it was not directly under the pipes. I asked that someone wash them as we were leaving the next morning for our tour and not returning until 11 PM or so. Therefore I have no time to do it myself. Nor should I have to considering it was obviously a staff member , which cleaned the room that had somehow managed to wet and soak the suitcase and clothing. My other complaint was my neighbor next-door! She abandon her children in the hotel room while she went out and and drink in the bar downstairs. There was a four Month old baby and a five-year-old boy left to take care of him, and he was crying with fear! Nothing was done, this continued the entire evening! 3hrs of sleep on day one! Following night more issues with the guest in that room 5hrsvof sleep. I was able to move rooms. But that did not solve the problem of my dirty tub, and my daughters wet clothes! It is now 11am, and after leaving an extensive email for management and asking for a callback, I have not received anything as of yet. I’m not expecting my my daughters clothing to get dry cleaned and pressed , just want them washed and dried. I felt that the hotel could at least do that. Not sure if I will get any other sort of compensation or amenity, as we still have two nights left in the hotel! Hopefully I will be contacted within the next couple of hours and my daughters laundry will be done! As a member of the hospitality business I am very aware of customer satisfaction and as of right now I am far from Satisfied. This portion is an addition/update to my problem. I have called several times since this morning and have not been able to speak to management, nor have they responded to my email. I’m sure they have a 9-5 job and will be gone by the time we return to the hotel. I can not go back as I am on a tour bus with my daughters school. I am doubtful that anything will be done and her clothes will still be there wet on the floor when we return at midnight. I will continue to give updates until my issues have been adressed.
So clothes got laundered, I got comped one day, and financially reimbursed for the sweater. Also in case you didn’t know there is a prison right behind the hotel! Google it and you’ll see it! Northern state prison !!! In conclusion...I WILL NEVER STAY IN A...
Read moreIf you're expecting a 3-5 stars hotel, this is not the hotel for you. I would have given it 2 and a half 🌟 if I could. It was an okay hotel. The front desk are not informative (they don't tell you anything about the hotel. Like where every thing is, parking fees, and if you ask them questions, they're kinda clueless), but they are nice enough, but not professional. I called for housekeeping, asked for clean sheets, no show (I was told by front desk that they were on their way, I waited for an hour). The room: chipped furniture, warped wallpaper on walls. My room (2nd floor, king room) was facing the front of the hotel, which, you can barely hear the airplane overhead (I'm a very, very light sleeper and Insomniac, but I slept well all 3 nights). I had family staying on the 4th floor with a room facing the back of the hotel, the plane was a little loud passing by and other guests on the floor were loud (the double rooms). The turkey club sandwich at Teddy's (charged too much), was not good, the bread was toasted to the level of coutons (hurt my gums, I had to stop eating it). The fish and chips were decent. But they claim to my family that they didn't do room service on Tuesdays. The 24 hr cafe, the elderly gentleman moved at snail pace, but the cheese cake was good! There isn't any restaurants close by outside because of where the hotel is situated. So if you're looking for tastier and more affordable food, 2 things you'll need: 1) a car 2) delivery. The free shuttle to and from the airport and hotel was great. The gift shop was overpriced, like most gift shops are. But it had a little inventory of personal essentials, that you may need like: toothpaste, pain pills, etc. And a AMT somewhere close outside of it. At Newark Airport P4 is where you'll look for the hotel named van to take you to the hotel. The airtrains will take you there to P4 free within the airport. Some have reviewed that there's a prison next door, but as long as they don't escape, it didn't bothered me. But again, I would say, it's a 2 & 1/2 star hotel. Would I stay here...
