This property was built in the early 1900s and hints at some of that charm in the "lobby" area. The décor is mostly mauve carpeting and paint. Most of the rooms have only a small sink and the bathroom is "down the hall". The shared bath has a large stand up shower. There is one room available with a private bath downstairs which also has a large shower. The private bath room has a TV but the other rooms do not. There is a suite available upstairs but that one I have never seen. The mattresses in the small rooms are somewhat hard but you won't believe the price!!!! The cost was around $30 for a small room. There is not much extra space in the smaller rooms but I was able to squeeze a crib in for my toddler. There is central air so that is nice but you can't adjust the temp in your room. The rooms have the original window above the hall door so you can hear a little noise but usually there are few guests. They offer coffee and tea in the morning that you prepare yourself. The hotel is connected to a café on one side and a gym on the other. You may use the hot tub in the gym for $5. The gym is exceptional for a town of this size. We stay here when we visit family...

We needed a place to sleep(it was cold and take a hot shower while we hunted for antelope. The water pressure was phenomenal in the shared bathroom. We utilized the lobby and played games while watching TV. There is a small kitchen available if you want to warm something up. Cute and extremely...
Read moreThis is an old hotel but well kept up. My husband originally reserved a sleeping room - bed and sink only with community bathroom but when I stayed on the first leg of his bike ride across SD we upgraded to the Master Quarters. We had a king size bed, twin bed, chairs, refrigerator, 2 closets and a full bathroom. We could use the gym for $5 a day. The staff was personable and shared some history of the hotel and town. We enjoyed our short stay! If you find yourself in Northwestern SD check out Newell Hotel. Busy season includes the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, ram sale, hunting,...
