Bates motel — Hotel in Newton Township

The rooms are pretty nasty. No mattress protectors, no blankets, the bedspread had holes. Old pillows with no protectors. No outlets in the bathrooms, only one extension cord hanging from the ceiling between beds. There was no tv in one of the rooms and dried pee on the toilet and a used bar of soap in the sink. Musty smelling. The owner was pretty fun, and moved us from rooms 1-3 where the bathrooms were "renovated" and was apologetic. She told us she NEVER closes the bar early, she closes at 2am on the weekends but it was closed up before 11pm on a Friday! The only thing kinda cool was the bathroom in the theme room. I do not recommend this motel! We left a day early and tried to inform her of this, but when we called, the inbox was full. She didn't respond to emails until a couple days later. Really unique motel. They lean into the Bates vibe and told me they are the grandchildren of the real serial killer’s mom. Very friendly owners and staff, they welcomed me as if i were an old friend and introduced me to “the family” which turned out not to be a turn of phrase and actually a group of several of the owners 24 adopted children

Also SO cheap. 2/3rd the price of anywhere around here and the beer was...

We stopped into this bar last night after hours on the road... we were glad to see it and ready to stop to be out of the vehicle for a few. I sat at the bar and was completely ignored. I ended up using the bathroom and leaving with my family. We came in for drinks and food but ended up leaving instead. The only person that acknowledged me was one of your regulars sitting at the bar....
