I really loved the patio at Bates and their steak burgers (½ pound) were delicious. I have a mushroom & Swiss and my dad had the deluxe. Not greasy! Nice toasted bun too. Onion rings were nice and crispy. I’ll be back to try the pizza soon. The staff was really friendly. The owner, Jay, even came out to talk to us and check on our meal. Definitely worth stopping in and trying it. Only suggestions I’d make is getting some of that ‘really good ranch’ and fresh mushrooms for the burgers. Update: 7/5/22 The “really good ranch” is definitely here! Also, the pizza is the best I’ve had up here. We ordered cheese for the kids and bbq chicken w/ added jalapeños and pineapple. We also tried their brand new fry bread desserts: elephant ear and sweet treat. The sweet treat was our favorite. The kids also loved the cheese pizza and the desserts. Another plus - they are taking credit cards now.

This place is way, way, way over priced! $16 for a burger and fries just wow...and as you can see, there is nothing special about them... and the fries have no seasonings on them, not to mention, there not done. The burger has no taste at all... I don't know for sure, but it look like a frozen patty. Tastes that way too...and this is $16! Just awful. I feel like I was ripped off. Definitely do not recommend.

If I lived in the UP, I would be here every day!! The people here are so much fun and are genuinely good people. You feel invited and welcome. The atmosphere is perfect for all ages and there is plenty of room inside, on the covered patio, and in a beautiful sunny and grassy area. If you’re passing through, you have to stop and have a drink at the very least!

We stopped in to have a drink and we were pleasantly surprised that they had live entertainment playing at 4:30pm in their outside patio. We ended up staying until the band stopped at 6:00. We really appreciated the unique music they were playing (jazz with a Cuban twist) and we hope to see them again soon. They are from Manistique and they are known as the Cedar Street Ensemble. They are playing at Chamberlain's on August 17. Our only complaint was that the patio area was not clean. None of the tables had been wiped down ashtrays had not been emptied and the chairs were in disarray. We were.surprised because the inside is always clean and organized. We will be back to try the pizza as we have heard that...

We are from Chicago so it's hard to find good pizza outside of Illinois or New York. When the reviews mentioned good pizza we were intrigued. I would describe the sauce and crust as New York style, sweeter sauce and a soft crust underneath with crunchy crust at the end. Had sausage, pepperoni, chicken, and bacon. I would have loved trying the Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza but sadly I myself don't like ranch. I am sure my husband would have loved it. I even had some mozzarella sticks to start which were very good. Prices were reasonable, beer was a great price, and service was nice and friendly. Atmosphere was nice and had Halloween decor, could be a bit cleaner. Will definetly come here again and...
