I want to give a 2.5 but you know. The room looked to be clean. No bugs on the bed bug check. When I looked under the bed there were some surprises. Such as a used tampon. It did not look bloody but did have some brown on it. Hot tub is permanently closed. Staff we delt with nice and friendly. The other MAJOR iss to me was when showering, the water pulsated (not so bad) but if anyone else around used any water it would get really hot most of the time and sometimes very cool/cold. Oh and the other bed looked like maybe had mice or rat poison under it but not sure because I wasn't going to touch it. Just glad we didn't have small kids or little dogs.

I've known the owner of here for some years now, he's a great guy, easy to work with. The rooms are well above what you sound expect from the price and location. The staff is always really nice and eager to help out any way they can. They do a free breakfast in the morning, simple stuff, but the danishes are always fresh and tasty. They even have a pretty nifty honeymoon suite if you're looking for a night away and feel fancy. I would definitely stay here if you're passing through town.

I was very impressed when I went in the room and all was clean and modern. This is an old hotel with the outside entrance but a very professional modernization brings it into this century with all the amenities of a new hotel. Bathrooms and sheets are extremely clean. Highly recommend! This is the best bang for the buck in Newton. The only thing I would change would be the number of electrical plugs (only have 4 total).

We were part of several basketball teams from KC who participated in a tournament in Halstead the weekend of June 12th and stayed at the Red Coach Inn in Newton (as Comfort Inn & Suites next door was sold out). My family opted to stay closer to the ‘tropical pool’ area even though this meant an additional $20/night from the original agreed price. When my husband checked out Sunday, he noticed we were charged an additional $10/night from the already up-charged rate. When he asked for it to be corrected, the man at the front desk refused. When my husband asked to see the paperwork signed on Friday night during check-in, he could not locate it. When my husband attempted to escalate the issue by asking to speak to the manager, he indicated he was the owner. My husband indicated he'd write a review for poor customer service, and the owner stated not to threaten him. When my husband returned from checking out and telling me about this, I decided to return to the front desk to get his name which he provided and to confirm he was the "owner”, which he corrected and said "no, I am not the owner, I am the General Manager". So I then indicated as the General Manager he is in the position to make this situation right. He attempted to call the person who had checked us in Friday night to see if she remembered what she had quoted us, but she was not available. He kept saying this is between us and the person who checked us in, really quite ridiculous. In the end he did refund the $10/night but kept coming back to this being an issue between us and the person who checked us in! Aside from this situation of poor customer service and record keeping, the facility overall was run down and dated. When we arrived, we thought at first the location may have changed as there was a fence around the property, the Best Western roadside sign was laying on the pavement in the parking lot and there were few cars. It apparently had changed ownership 2-months prior. The hot tub greatly advertised was drained. Our room was clean, bed linens seemed okay. The lampshade was falling apart and had a lightbulb out. Our pool towels were worn thin and most had many holes. Our external access during the day did not require room key entry until after hours. Outside of the families from KC, I only saw one other family from another team staying there, right next to us in the tropical pool area. The place was largely vacant. We do NOT recommend for anyone to consider staying here. Seemed they maintained the signage as a AAA approved lodging yet would not even consider extending a discount to us as AAA members. A month has gone by and I am still displeased enough to take the time to write this. To put a dollar value to this place aside from poor management, I am not sure if I'd even pay $69/night, it was really that...

What a lovely surprise we had in our journey. We had traveled from Bozeman MT and had stopped at other hotels enroute, both major brands and locals. This was by far our best experience. The room was perfect for us. We were traveling with an elderly dog (15 years old) and needed a room easily accessible to an area to take her for a walk. The room faced directly to the immediately adjacent parking and allowed us to bring in suitcases easily. We are both physically handicapped and we found the accommodations just what we needed. It was a NON-SMOKING room which I loved since I am allergic to tobacco smoke. We had multiple interactions with the front desk person because of our personal needs and you could never find a more gentle and accommodating person. He was always and helped us in multiple ways. I plan to visit Newton KS again in the future and will always plan to stay at the Red Coach Inn. A Braums Restaurant is immediately adjacent to the motel. Great ice cream treats and hamburgers. The room was well appointed, clean, and fresh. Compared with the national brand hotels in which we stayed on this long trip, this was by far the best experience. On this trip from Montana to Texas, we had stayed at national brand motels which were highly visible and advertised, and with higher prices, and experienced non-working TVs and telephones disconnected, and horrible access for handicapped persons. Red Coach Inn was a superior stay for us. Thank you for being...

I'm very disappointed with my visit rooms are very poorly ran and not kept clean there was a clear dirty handprint on the main wall in our room. Me and my husband were traveling and stopped to visit a couple friends when we checked in the guy at the front desk was rude to begin with we kinda of brushed it off and went on. We accidentally got locked out of our room it was freezing and raining outside and it took us over an hour to get ahold of the manager when we finally got him to wake up from sleeping he told us to go back to bed and threatened to kick us out if we did that again. We went back to our room and not even 45 minutes later the power went out. So we packed up and went to the Days Inn up the road when we went to go get a refund in the morning the front desk guy (which was the same man from the night before) told us we couldn't get a refund because they are not responsible for the power going out. I tried the next day to get ahold of the manager and no one would answer the phones at the Hotel Finally at 1 in the afternoon I got ahold of them they said they would refund me $45 of my $103 room. Which it still hasn't hit my account and guess what I can't get ahold of them either! Definitely not worth spending $103...
