Whitetail River Lodge — Hotel in Niobrara

We met our family here for our annual family vacation. Terry and Valorie went above and beyond to accommodate our large group. The hospitality they showed us was first class. We have a daughter with dietary restrictions and they graciously accommodated her specific needs without her feeling excluded or separated from the group. The breakfasts were delicious. The house was perfect! Meticulously clean, spacious living areas and comfortable beds. There are patio spaces outside the bedrooms where it was so nice to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee before breakfast or to relax quietly in the evening. We enjoyed firing up the grill for dinner and having a relaxing evening grilling and catching up while the kids played in the yard. The downstairs living area was a great space to prep food. Having a full sized refrigerator and a microwave to use added to the benefits of this great vacation home. We were close to the river and Niobrara Park so the location was perfect for our group.

Hidden right off highway 14 in Niobrara this log lodge is close to Niobrara State Park with views of the Missouri River Valley. Slept in lower level bedroom with bath and full living area including dining table, full-size fridge, large tv right outside bedroom door. So quiet we overslept! We felt like we had the place to ourselves even though others were staying here. Upstairs dining area looks out to deck with river valley views. Owners normally serve hot breakfast but creatively accommodate breakfast during Covid with breakfast-to-go bags. Complete with cereal, danish and muffin. I was somewhat disappointed that the check in is at 4:00. That is not mentioned on their website and we arrived at 2:30 and found no one there. Upon arriving at 4:00 , no one was in the lobby and we knocked on doors until someone came to check us in. They only accept cash or personal check, with a $50.00 deposit up front.|The room was spartan but clean. The TV was a very old 14" model and the mattress is quite soft.|Breakfast was filling but the eggs had cooled off both days. The first day we were served a waffle with whipped topping and the second day French toast with caramelized sugar on top. We scraped off the sugar coating.
