I stayed here with some friends for a weeklong summer vacation. I had heard about this resort from some friends that stayed here a few years ago before the new cabins were built. I had high expectations from what I had been told about this resort. Upon check in I was told that the resort was not offering complementary breakfast right at the moment even though I was told it was offered when I made my reservation several months earlier. We stayed in Cabin 11 which was one of the newly constructed cabins. When we got to our cabin we found that it had been cleaned poorly. There was a note from the cleaner Tabitha on the counter. We found that all of the hard floors had sand and dirt on them. The counters and stove were also dirty. The grill outside was disgusting and had not been cleaned for a long time. The underneath of the kitchen sink was very dirty and had not been cleaned in a long time. The ceilings and walls had several spots that looked like blood on them. There were multiple lights out in our cabin. The front door would not latch shut and deadbolt strikes were not installed on the front or back doors. The kitchen table legs were loose along with the bench seat at the table. The bathroom toilet seats were loose along with the entire bathroom sink basins. The fridge handles were also loose. The shades in the bedroom were too long and would not stay up. The beds were cheap and were way to soft and not supportive. I had a sore back each morning I woke up because of this. The Wi-Fi internet was also very slow. The water heater must have been small because after 2 people would shower there was no hot water left in the cabin. We had to ask every night to have firewood brought to our rack as they were barely stocking it. The new cabins do have a full kitchen and have all the pots and pans and utensils. The cabin also has in unit washer and dryer. They are 3 bedroom 2 bathroom cabins. Overall I was disappointed with the resort as I felt like they had good facilities but did not want to properly upkeep and clean them. If they were not being cheap it would have been a significantly better experience. Our rate was the early summer rate which was reasonable but starting memorial days the rates go up to summer rates which are significantly more expensive. I do not know that I would necessarily return to this resort based off of this experience. I would be more likely to try a different resort in the area. Hopefully Good Ol Days can improve on their upkeep and cleaning and they...
Read moreBooked the resort for a family vacation before COVID. When COVID hit owners wouldn’t give deposit back, which was understandable. But when our families grew larger in that time they were not willing to work with us. Calling the resort to make payments, discuss options or resort details was a disaster. After one night stay with 19 people (9 kids 4 and under) in two three bedroom cabins Tom and Nancy walked up, demanded we leave within an hour, charged us $200 over our remaining amount, called the police on us, would not discuss what the problems were, claimed their were complaints from the night before but when pressed couldn’t provide any (it had rained and hailed the night before and we didn’t share a wall with anyone). I have never felt so disrespected by someone in the hospitality business for absolutely no reason. Their was no warning, just immediate escalation. It was noted to us that the owners were very close friends of the people two cabins down from us. In addition, the people in the cabin next to us told us they had more people then allowed in their cabin, if kids 3 and under counted, and so did the people who checked in after them. They told Nancy when checking in they had too many people and she let them stay when she told us she would never have let that many people stay in a cabin if they had known when trying to kick us out. When the police showed up, the officer was very nice to us. Told us we didn’t do anything wrong and we were allowed to stay because we had rented the place and the owners were trying to intimidate us. If you are looking for a good family oriented resort who is willing to work with you to meet your needs this is...
Read moreWhen they say good ol days ….they mean it and for the wrong reasons. Meaning old time lack of working necessities . Our cabin had a broken dishwasher and toilet and we called the after hours on call line at 9:10 pm. No one answered. Left a message on the main phone as well. Next morning no one called us back. we had to track down the maintenance man. He was able to snake the toilet and claimed the dishwasher was fixed. It broke down with an hour. He came back then said it’s out of commission and that he had to order some parts . No dishwasher after without any apology or discount . Then same day the internet went out. Called again and he came back and said he reset the router which was in the next room. Nothing changed and the maintenance man said that he was new and that most of these problems were existing before he came and still weren’t addressed by the owners. Didn’t have internet/TV the rest of the trip which was days. I can give the rest of the layout a decent score aside from the old rickety docks with literal holes you can trip through. Huge safety hazard. Pontoon is in need of repair and engine felt problematic and for the rental price as well it’s inexcusable. Continental breakfast is kept up well but only the basics. Pastries, cereal, milk. Rooms are fine and the updates are nice for the actual cabins but overall for price the lack of working necessities like toilets , dishwasher, and internet/TV is egregious....
