My family and I were visiting for some night fishing and fun in the sun. We went through their store to pay for my husband to fish and us to hang out. It was very late so we chose not to stay at the hotel and just hang out all night. The person working at night was nice and friendly and we paid our dues. At morning time we went back inside and asked if it was OK for the kids and I to hang out at the beach while my husband continued fishing they said YES and stamped our hands AGAIN to make sure we'd be ok. Around noon we decided we'd had enough and packed up to go. If you have kids you can understand how much stuff we had to carry to keep them entertained. It was impossible for us to get all the stuff out in one go. We wanted to take our stuff to the car, wash up and, go have lunch at their restaurant before heading out. I understand they have to be vigilant of people who want to sneak in but I was not hiding as I held the side exit door open waiting on my husband. An older gentleman came to let me know I couldn't be letting people in. I very clearly and politely explained what I was doing he continued to be pretty accusatory but, I like to take the high road so I kept explaining myself and then asked my husband to hurry over so we could get to the restaurant and told him I couldn't be holding the door open. The gentleman became more agitated and was asking "where is he? Where is he?! " Like I was lying. I'm from California and have only encountered nice and polite people in NC but, these gentleman were aggressive and rude . By the time my husband walked in (which mind you couldn't have taken more than 2 minutes) another gentleman joined the first guy to loudly argue about me holding the door open. At that point my husband who isn't as patient as I had heard them being rude to me and said we were leaving and not giving these people our business anymore. So sad that even though I explained my children were soaking wet and full of sand and wanted to clean up and not go into their restaurant that way because I'm a respectful person they kept getting aggressive thinking I was letting people in no matter how much I explained we had stamps and a ticket to prove we'd paid. Although I understand their concern that was in no way an ok way to treat customers. Also, their upstairs women's bathroom was filthy all night and the stalls don't even have doors!! It was really such an unfortunate interaction and made myself and my children not feel welcome or safe. By the way, it only costs TWO DOLLARS to get in to the peir. It was so upsetting that they acted this way. There's other much nicer piers all up and down the coast in NC and I've visited many. Stay away and give your business to kind people. These gentleman are unkind,...
Read moreI booked this room for a one night stay with my husband and 2 children. I had read reviews and they seemed mostly positive. We arrived around 8:30PM on a Friday and the wooden stairs going up the side of the motel were filled with men smoking and drinking. Upon check-in we were told that the office closed in 30 minutes and they would be back at 9AM. The room was small but I was expecting that and we just needed somewhere to sleep. The walls are paper thin and we could hear everything being said in the hallways. There was pubic hair in the shower. My family was exhausted so I bit my tongue and put the kids to bed. I turn down my sheets and they are gross. Hair on the sheets and they were dirty and old. I am annoyed and thinking of what I should do when we hear a woman scream. Then that scream turns into very LOUD moaning. Awful. I told my husband that was it and we could NOT stay here. We grab the kids and out suitcases to leave. I told my husband to take the kids to the car and I was going to stop by the office to see if there was an after hours number we could call (it was around 10PM). I am looking at the office door (no number to call by the way) when a man comes into the hall from outside. He said if I was looking for the office people he thinks someone was in the motel room across the hall. I had backed away at this point because he was obviously intoxicated so I could not see into the room. He opens the door and starts yelling for a "Brandy". He tells her that some girl is out here looking for her and she responds "What? The cops are here?" The alarm bells in my head start going off. This is not a good place. A woman then comes into the hall from outside and asked me what I was doing and I told her I was trying to check out and get a refund. From inside the motel room I hear the man talking to someone "You guys got me so __ed up on this _." Now I know I just need to get out of here. I start walking to the other end of the hall to leave and the man sticks his head out the door and yells "Hey, where the __ is she going!!" I was scared and ran to the car, leaving in tears.
I cannot understand how this place has good reviews. It is not a safe place.
I went back the next morning and the woman in the office, Jan, was very nice & apologetic when I explained everything that happened. She gave me a full refund. She did say that no one by the name of Brandy works there so I have no idea what was going...
Read moreLet me just list the pros and cons..Let's start with the cons, so we can end on a good note, because overall I was pleased! First would be the large amount of stairs you have to climb after a long day of ocean legs, and if alcohol is involved, you may as well sleep in your car, you'd probably be safer that way. The second one is that our bathroom door didn't close all the way, so you have no privacy from whoever you're staying with. The wifi connection will likely not reach to your room and being a youtuber, it was difficult for us to upload our vlogs. I also would recommend, don't turn the shower all the way to hot and then try to adjust it, it will turn off. We found that if you turn it half way and adjust it from there once you get in, it will work better. Now for the pros. The room was nice and cozy.. The bed was comfortable, and you could tell that this was a very clean place to stay. The woman who worked in the office told us she was new, but she did a great job and was super nice! I really liked how the pier was so close by and how you barely had to leave the hotel to take a walk on the beach. There were a lot of stairs, but I would tell they were well maintained and I wasn't going to fall through the floor. They had benches on their deck like thing to sit on to eat lunch, smoke a cig, or just watch the beautiful ocean. As I said we were overall pleased, and we will be back! If you'd like to see the inside of the room head over to youtube and check out Attacked Attraction, we uploaded a video while we were there and...
