Lovely place to stay. Highly recommend suite 708, it is freaking gorgeous. All of the condos face the water and you get an amazing sunset 🌇 every evening.
These are condos owned by individuals, so the only staff is the rental agents, housekeeping and security.
We developed a relationship with our security guy because of probs we had the night we arrived (agent dble booked room). We tipped him before we left and he was in shock. He had never been tipped. He had been good to us and in Vegas, good service is tipped in my book.
The condi bottom units are at beach level with a lanai (patio) that you have 3-4 steps to go down then you're right on the beach.
If you need handicap access do NOT get a bottom unit. They are not on ground level. There is no ramp access and you have to go up 5-6 steps to get to the doors of the units. Then down more stairs to get to the pool or to the ground level - remember my mention of 3-4 steps on the lanai.
The units on floors 2 and up are accessed by elevator. No steps into the lobby, to the elevator or after you get off the elevator.
Grounds and hotel security is pretty tight. You have to have a special fob to access the parking lot gate, the elevator, gates on the proterty and of course whatever security the owner of your unit set up for room access.
Now it's minor down sides. The surf is rough on this north west shore of Oahu. I watched it completely reshape the beach while we were there. Since I'd had 2 surgeries in the 10 months before, I didn't feel safe to go into that strong of surf.
We did try to go and dip our toes the first night and it knocked us down. But we are disabled, take that in to account. We did sit in the surf one night and let it bat us around. I swear I'm STILL cleaning sand out of my bellybutton.
Last point is both a pro and a con. The condos is located on the remote north west shore. Con is, takes forever to drive into the larger cities or to the other side of the island.
Major Pro is that it is SO FREAKING PEACEFUL AND QUIET! Yes, I'm yelling. All you hear 24/7 out there are the waves. That's it, nothing else. It is heavenly.
We stayed at Princess for 3 weeks then decided to go into Waikiki for a week. I so missed the quiet of the Princess the very first night. We were on the 21st floor in a suite and still the traffic sound from below was horrible.
By the 2nd night I desperately wish that I had stayed at the Princess instead of coming...
Read moreWe stayed on the top floor, corner unit 1601. This unit has a wrap around lanai. The security at this building was very good. There is a gated entrance into the parking lot, a fob is required to access the elevator, and there is a security guard on premise. Unit 1601 also has the added security of a gate before you can access the front door. The nice thing about this is you can leave the screen door from the LR open and also the screen door in the bedroom without having to worry. The unit was clean, but it is dated. What you're paying for is the view which is incredible. There were two a/c units, a separate one apparently for the bedroom. That unit worked well, but the other one for the rest of the condo did not seem to work. It was not a big issue for us as this time of year was not very warm and we got a cool breeze from the lanai. The unit was well stocked with all the necessities and there were also extra shampoos, sunscreen, etc, which were probably left behind by other guests. Before you hit the market, you may want to see what is all available in the unit.. There were chairs and a beach lounger in a closet as well as an umbrella and some beach toys. There is also a washer and dryer in the unit. The mattress was very comfortable in the bedroom. My husband enjoyed sleeping on the lounge chair on the lanai, so he could enjoy the ocean breeze and hear the waves all night.||This area is not a tourist area, but primarily local. If you're looking for trendy restaurants and bars, you will not find it here. However, there are several local restaurants that are very good. There is a locally owned grocery store, only a few miles from the condo. There are a lot of homeless in this area. In fact there is a beautiful rocky point that we wanted to walk out on, however, there were several homeless camps on the pathway. We were never approached by anyone wanting money or anything like that, so it wasn't a huge deal to us. All of the beaches along the road had homeless camps and it was unfortunate to see the desperateness and all the trash piled up. Don't let that necessarily deter you from renting a unit here as it is very secure and we never had problems. Just wanted someone to be aware of it. I had seen the reviews and was aware of it. It was not like this 2 years ago when my sister...

To Whom it may concern, We have absolutely enjoyed this beautiful location and building here at Makaha Hawiaain Princess here in Waianai, Oahu. However today, when we had a few issues to take care of, our experience with your staff was terrible. I don't understand how people that are working in a service industry based job have absolutely no clue as how to provided decent customer service. Namely Kim and Penny. We called earlier today to ask if someone could look at the dishwasher as it was not functioning properly and Kim just told me to wash the dishes by hand. She was very unpleasant ( I am trying to use nice words here, but you know what I mean by that). When my wife went down to register, she was dismissive and rude in communicating and told her that "In Hawaii, we don't use dishwashers". Mind you, we've been doing dishes manually up until this point and after a big dinner, we wanted to use the dishwasher. This afternoon, I went down to the office and as I walked in Penny was in the room outside of the office and didn't even turn around to see who was there. After standing there for a couple of minutes I had to literally interrupt her to ask her how to leave our keys as we are leaving early and to get a coffee packet. She was obviously put out that I interrupted her to do her job. She seemed a lot more pleasant after I asked her what her name was as she was not wearing any kind of badge or name tag. This is absolutely terrible customer service. I have never been treated with rude disregard over the last eight years that we have bought our timeshare. We travel several times a year and will probably not be choosing this location just because your customer service and management here is so rude and bad. What happened to the Aloha spirit, and good happy customer service? On the other hand, the security staff here have been amazing. No complaints whatsoever. But your office ladies, Kim and Penny have unacceptable communication. As a suggestion, maybe hire a young happy person instead of some moody, unsavory people to manage your customer service. Unfortunately, I will be posting this review a copy of this If you would like to discuss this further, feel free to...
