I travelled to Oakes recently and chose the Travel Inn Motel based on two factors: location and the fact that it had a review on Tripadvisor. While it does have a good location in the center of town, the previous review must have been at a different hotel because there is no bar or food at this hotel at all. They must have been referring to the Harvest Inn, which has both.||||The staff, while friendly and somewhat helpful, seem to have a lot of difficulty doing their job. Either they don't have a lot of training or they don't care enough to know what they should be doing. They had trouble with basic things, like reservations and direct bill payments. And they were completely inaccessible early in the morning.||||The hotel itself has virtually no amenities, other than an Ice machine on the second floor and a tiny break area in the lobby. The "breakfast" (if you want to call it that) consists of some packages of powdered doughnuts and coffee. You're better off leaving early and going to Donna's Diner for a real breakfast. There's no vending machines, no business center, no fitness center (although there is one across the street that you can use for $5), no pool, and no laundry facilities. It appears that most of the people who stay at this hotel were hunters, so I guess it would be fine for someone to sleep, shower, and change clothes if that's all you need.||||The room is pretty bare, although it was clean. My room had a refrigerator and a microwave, and there was a gas station down the street where you could buy things to keep in your room. The bed was incredibly hard and made sleep uncomfortable. The bathtub took an exceptionally long time to drain. The heater and air conditioner both worked well. You could get the room ice cold or baking hot in a relatively short period of time. My room was near the lobby, which had a television running at all hours of the day and night. The noise from the television, along with the patrons and staff, made it difficult to sleep. There was only one iron and ironing board in the hotel, so if you need one you'd better ask for it in the afternoon and iron everything all at once.||||After a couple of days, I couldn't take it any more. I checked out and moved over to the Harvest Inn, which has a lot more amenities, a better trained staff, and a much...
