Upon arriving,
We noticed we had booked a site two weeks in advance. Only to show up after a 5 hour drive. We had accidently booked a tent site for our camper. The gentleman that signed us in was awesome to work with. He had found a site that we could post our camper up for a few days (until the reserved campers came in). We had explained our situation to him. And then set up camp. A few hours later we had a knock on our camper door. The same guy told us that he had a tiny spot that was available with just electric hook up. No water or sewage. He offered that spot to us out of nothing more than generosity. So we took it. (no walmart parking lot camping until the next spot). We were also a few hours late getting back to our site. Past checkout time. I went to the office and apologized and they did not give us any grief. The restrooms were very neat and well maintained. The campground is very well maintained, no trash, very organized. Campsites are easy to deal with.
The campground manager approached us after parking up in the little spot they were nice enough to let us stay for the night. It was a spot that was never meant to be available for our camper. He had asked us if everything was alright. I said everything was perfect. After coming back from hiking and swimming we noticed they had cut all the grass around our camper door. (which they did not have to do.) The little things that you do not expect go a long way when you lease expect it. I can honestly say that this campground will definitely see us in the...
Read moreMy wife, three daughters (6,3,1) and I were looking for a place to stay in our newly purchased motorhome and found this place advertised. We started having mechanical problems a few miles away from the RV park, and were able to limp in before, ultimately, the transmission of our vehicle died right in the middle of the road leading to the sites. This occurred as the lightning began to crack overhead and the rain began to fall, signalling the onset of a thunderstorm.
The owners came out in the rain, brought an umbrella, helped me diagnose the problem as well as we could, and even gave us two quarts of transmission problem, to see if that would help us get moved, as we were literally stopped in the middle of the road. When that didn't work, they brought us an extension cord so that we could at least run power to the RV so that we could spend the night, wait out the thunderstorm, and figure it out in the morning. I could never had expected such hospitality under these circumstances; well above and beyond "regular" service.
In the morning, they would not even accept payment, helped us find a great towing company (Buddy's Towing out of Oakland, MD, look for an extremely positive review on them as well), and helped organize transportation for getting the family to a hotel.
A very lovely campground, a great location, and very personable and friendly owners. Absolutely a 6-star experience, under less than ideal circumstances.
We are very excited to visit this establishment when again we have the...
Read moreThe reviews here are spot on regarding how quiet and serene the surroundings are. However, there is some nearby jake-braking and sometimes you can hear the planes taking off at the Garrett Airport. That didnt really bother us, though. There are a few very friendly seasonal and our site was directly adjacent to a very 24-hour inebriated couple. There are about 30-35 sites and theyre all packed together tightly. Full hookups about mid-rig where we stayed. The entire campground is on the side of a hill so it was probably the most unlevel site weve had. There road in and out is treacherous with pot holes in the gravel drive and a big ditch on the right when youre leaving. Id suggest making a left when leaving the park. The kids had fun on the playground and riding their bikes. Theres a small game room and library with coffee and snacks. Showers and bathrooms were very clean. Ownership/hosts are very nice and attentive. If it wasnt for our rowdy neighbors and their dogs constant barking, I think I wouldve rated it higherbut because of how very close the sites are together, I couldnt help it. I still think its probably the best campground near Deep Creek, though. We camped at Bumble Bee RV Park and Campground in a...
