JUNE 29, 2025 The clerk (male) gave us 2 keys, one for myself and one for my husband. We booked 1 room for ourselves. We also booked a room for the brother, he also received 1 key. He was totally separate from us. He paid his with his own credit card. We went to our respective rooms and they were both dirty with dirty towels and wash cloths piled in the floor, beds spread but let's just say, nasty. We informed the clerk and he moved us to different rooms. Checked out next morning thinking all was well. A few days later our credit card company sends notice that there were identical charges on the same date from the Inn. I contacted Kansas Country Inn and they said they didn't think so. Many calls and frustrations later; as of today JULY 17, I called and tried to get Kansas Country Inn employee Elaine (or something like that)to work with me to get the mess fixed but she was having none of it. Informed me they had not repeatedly charged my card. I told her I was looking at my credit card statement charges on July 1 ($100.30), July 1 AGAIN($100.30), July 2 ($106.35), andJuly 10 ($100.30). I had called multiple times and each time they just charged me again. Finally on July 10 they credited my card $100.30 twice. She said she was looking at their system and they had not charged repeatedly. Any second grader can see they still owe me and they repeatedly charged my card. Also the booking engine I used said all taxes and fees were included. I asked to speak with the owner or a manager and she refused to give me any information other than the owner lives in Texas. I have contacted my credit card company today and disputed the $106.35. Soon after Kansas Kountry Inn called and kept saying that my husband and I had 2 different rooms because we returned 3 keys. I had told Elaine (something like that) we were given keys (1 room) and my brother was given a key. We checked out at the same time but we only returned the keys given to us. Due to another review that we read saying they had charged a $25. fee for keys not returned, we made sure to go together to check out so we would be witness for the keys returned. I told her they had been nothing but uncooperative and had charged FOUR TIMES INSTEAD OF ONE. Yes, through many calls I have gotten some of it credited back but not all. I told her they should do the right thing because I would otherwise do a full review and this is not a good look for their establishment. Her response, "It's not a good look for you", then she proceeded to hang up on me. DO...
Read moreIt was OK. We got room 144 which was a double queen standard. We checked in around 7:30 PM. The bad: when we arrived, there were some pretty sketchy looking characters. We got into our room and it smelled like diarrhea. We noticed a couple dirty spots on the comforters. There was black mold under the ridges in the shower. The corners of the floor were kind of lifting and there was a bad paint job in the bathroom, but those things don’t bother me as long as the place is clean. It wasn’t terribly unclean, just OK. We realized the next morning the smell was outside and just blowing into the room through the air conditioning. The whole town smells like it’s been dunked in manure (maybe it has, it’s an agricultural town). While walking to breakfast there was blood all over the sidewalk. The good: we met 4 different staff and they were all extremely nice and courteous. While we were at the pool, which was pretty clean, they even brought us out towels. The room had everything we needed: mini fridge, microwave, coffee pot, good size dresser, and TV. As far as comfort, again, right in the middle of the road. There were no bugs. The check-in office was very nice and clean as well as the breakfast room. Looked to be updated and breakfast was hot, so way better than continental. Oatmeal, eggs, sausage, waffles, hashbrowns, and biscuits and gravy ( along with your regular continental items). Overall, experience was OK. Somethings were good, somethings were bad… The blood really did me in and the smell was pretty terrible. But I don’t think it’s the hotels fault about th overall, experience was OK. Somethings were good, somethings were bad… The blood really did me in and the smell was pretty terrible. But the smell is not the hotels fault. I did report the blood and suggested they do a check on the people...
Read moreI wanted to write this review. I am presently staying at the Kansas Country Inn located in Oakley Kansas which is close to the East/West I-70 junction and on US Highway 40 which also junctions US 83. I am currently doing window Cleaning for the whole Motel. My overall impression of this motel is quite good. An American owned mom/pop family oriented establishment. Very spacious updated clean and comfortable rooms .good wifi and all the amenities you could need. They offer a cut above the rest breakfast room in the morning that you would normally only get if staying at places really expensive through the larger motel chains. The Owners and all the staff are indeed friendly and treat their guests with very good customer service. It appears that the owners know how to run a good business, and that is evident by the overall good atmosphere and nice place feel it has about it We need to support these types of American owned Motels and continue to give them all the business they can get.. these are the types of motels we need to see for many years to come. Would not hesitate to stay here again. Quiet clean, friendly, and good value.
My advice to Travelers and business people. Don't pass this place up. In fact, don't even bother with any other existing Motels in the area. Make the Kansas Country Inn your destination stop when visiting the Oakley Kansas area. Thumbs up to the Kansas...
