My wife and I chose Oyhut rentals for a little staycation as we live in the area. The cabins looked cute and we booked their #14 cabin called "Don't worry beach happy". We were hoping for a little relaxation and fun away from home. We checked in on February 17th and the first day was fine. On the second day we left the room for several hours. When we got back late that evening we discovered someone had rifled through my wife's weekly pill container removing about 10 muscle relaxant capsules. They also helped them self to several gulps from a whiskey bottle that was on the kitchen island. Since it was late she went to the rental desk the next morning. The girl in the office was very nice and said she would call the manager and let her know. Soon we got a call from the manager who treated us very unprofessionally. Instead of saying that she was sorry this happened to us and that she would look into it, she basically called us liars. Her response was "we only have long term employees here and it couldn't be any of them." There was no maid service or maintenance requested so no one should have been in the room. The missing pills were beyond obvious. Needless to say it was creepy knowing someone could get into our room, besides a strangers hands touching your pills to dig them out of you weekly pill container. We didn't see a glass next to the whiskey bottle so we are assuming they drank straight out of the bottle. Our experience with the resort was somewhere between creepy and gross. Apparently they need a new professional manager to deal with problems like this. I wouldn't recommend staying there. Not if your worried...
Read moreWow. Just wow. Five stars is not a high enough rating.
Oyhut Bay had been our go-to vacation spot for some time before my wife and I got engaged; and shortly after our engagement we saw an advertisement that they would be building an Event Center. We had some other locations we were considering, but we decided on a whim that we should get married at Oyhut Bay. We had nothing but one single rendering of what the outside of the building would look like, but for some reason it just felt right.
That started a year and a half long adventure with Jason and Devin where the four of us figured out all the elements of our perfect wedding. They worked tirelessly, relentlessly, and endlessly along with the rest of the Oyhut Bay staff to guarantee our wedding was exactly what we wanted. If any issues or snags in the plan came up, they had a solution right away. We never had a doubt that they would make our dream wedding happen.
When the day of arrived, all of our visions came to life perfectly. As only the second event in their new venue, I know they were probably pretty stressed, but they executed flawlessly; and we are forever grateful for their help and friendship.
We cannot recommend them highly enough. Like I said at the beginning, five stars just isn't enough for them. The venue is beautiful. The location is convenient. The ocean is gorgeous. The staff is unwaivering in their commitment to make your wedding perfect. If you are considering Oyhut Bay for your wedding, JUST DO IT. You will not regret it. You will thank yourselves the day after your wedding that you made the...
Read moreWe booked this condo for 2 nights through Expedia, located in Oyhut Bay Seaside Resort, and managed by istay.net. We drove 2.5 hours to get there. Upon entering, we found a terrible smell, black mold, and dirty, stained carpet in the room. We took photos and called the management company. The representative was rude and only offered to send a cleaner. I explained black mold can’t just be cleaned away, but the cleaner came, agreed it was mold, and left without doing anything.||Later, the management company claimed it was “dust.” If that were true, why wasn’t it cleaned before our arrival? Dust doesn’t cause that smell or appear on ceilings. We requested a full refund, which was denied. Expedia got involved, but the management company refused, hiding behind their cancellation policy.||Expedia’s supervisor offered a $300 refund, which I declined—it’s unacceptable when we couldn’t stay in a mold-infested unit with our 2-year-old. We were told someone would follow up but never heard back.||When we called to confirm we left the keys, a woman named Julie hung up on us—completely unprofessional.||We will report this to the health inspector and pursue legal action. Terrible experience from start to finish. Do...
