We truly do enjoy staying at the Caroline Inn, the peace and quiet we find there is exactly what we are looking for. However, this year we were given Unit #4 to stay in. When we arrived there on Friday evening what we found inside the unit caused me to be pretty angry.||The first thing I noticed was dust everywhere, the kitchen counter had dust and grit on it. When I went upstairs, the first thing I noticed was the used Q-tips and long hair on the floor. I looked in the shower, and it had long hair in it as well. The toilet was dirty, so I had to clean that too. There was black mold on the shower curtain! Seriously? So back up the road I went to the store and bought bleach spray so I could spend our first evening there cleaning the upstairs bathroom. We wiped down the kitchen counters. Sounds like so much fun! The toilet downstairs was very dusty/dirty but I'd had enough of cleaning bathrooms so I left that for your staff, hope they cleaned it...||||Next, when we looked at the dishes, etc. we found food particles and dirt/dust inside the cabinets. All of the dishes and utensils went into the dishwasher. We found a broom and swept the kitchen/entry way floor. But no dust pan so we left the pile of dirt in the corner by the front door. ||||The fact that there was so much dust/dirt everywhere, and both of the bathrooms were so filthy it is glaringly obvious that the housekeeper(s) are doing the absolute minimum in prepping the unit for your next guests. While we were there, housekeeping arrived to clean Unit #5, they were there less than an hour cleaning. That means they didn't do much more than put away the dishes, change the bedding, towels, vacuum, and take the garbage out.||||I spent roughly $850.00 dollars to stay there, for that kind of money I should have found a unit that was spotless! It should have been as clean as what we find when we stay at places such as the Embassy Suites, Marriott Hotels, etc. I feel that I have every right to expect a high level of cleanliness for that kind of money. I should NOT have to spend the first evening there cleaning the unit so that I know my wife and I are comfortable. We are debating on returning again next year.||||2nd E-Mail sent to The Caroline Inn||||To Whom it may Concern;||||Apparently after waiting a full week for a response from The Caroline Inn management, I have to assume I'm not going to receive one! Not even a simple "we're sorry for the appearance of your unit, we will speak to housekeeping". Nothing, Silence. Basically the message I'm receiving is this...we are totally ignoring you. That's a sad way to do business.||The Caroline Inn is NOT the only game in Ocean Shores. Maybe your management team doesn't think there is anything wrong, or worse they underestimate the power of social media these days. I will give you the respect at least of informing you that while we intend to spend time in Ocean Shores during 2018, we won't be spending that time staying at The Caroline...
Read moreWe stayed for 4 nights, off prime season, unit #4.|Wonderful setup for couples who want to get away. Nicely furnished. Jacuzzi in the bedroom.. walk in shower.. first floor has recliner chairs for TV. Free internet and cable. It has a full kitchen with stove, dishwasher, microwave, full fridge, dishes, and cooking items. There is even a bunch of spices etc left behind.|Each floor has a balcony with nice views. Probably 200 feet to get your toes wet. There are deer all around. Sometimes on the beach, but walking around the property at various times of the day, everyday. Also along the road to town. The deer are not skittish and don't run or jump in front of your car.|The Inn is about 4 miles from the edge of town, so you will need transportation or a good hike to get a meal. I'm guessing this is about 1/4 mile from the North Jetty. Nice walks on the beach and very quiet out here.|One warning, if you get #5, the building next door is having major renovations and there is only 8 feet between buildings. The crew starts making noise around 8:30. Not bad, but if you are a late sleeper you might be surprised. I would guestimate the renovations will last until February or so. We were in #4 and could hear the work, but it wasn't a big deal.|Love this place, want...
Read morePhotos cannot do this slice of heaven justice. It is heaven on earth. My wife and I booked it for our anniversary because we are quiet folks. The location is away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist ridden town center. The views are breathtaking overlooking the beach. The condo is extremely well thought out. It is spacious for two, well furnished with very comfortable furniture, and stocked with the amenities travelers need. The decor is tastefully beach themed. The kitchen is well planned for an extended stay. Two generous balconies provide outdoor seating overlooking the beach. Nothing is crammed in like other properties we have stayed at. We would not change a thing. The property is well maintained, and we found the staff friendly and responsive to our requests. And during the quiet times you may be visited by the resident deer. For the mobility impaired there are lots of stairs, so this may not be suited for you. We will be...
