My stay at Mt Lemmon was the absolute worst experience Iāve had on a getaway in a long time.
Once receiving a text our cabin was ready, we walk up onto our porch with a whole set of dirty towels hanging over the balcony. Gross. The dishes were maybe rinsed with water, if that. Still covered in food residue and lipstick. We tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and went on with our day. Time to shower and get ready for bed⦠the shower is dirty and covered in hair. Like it wasnāt even looked at during their last check out cleaning. Start climbing into bed.. greeted with hair and stains. Pull out the couch bed.. greeted with stains and food crumbs. I booked a pet friendly cabin for our pups, which you have to pay an extra pet fee for, which is normal, but if you charge that, then at least make the fenced area free of 2FT weeds, and if you are going to put out water/food bowls (kind gesture) then leave them clean without spider webs and dirt.
Clearly, we finally had enough and went to contact the office. Well thereās no office or no one at all who manages the site. You have to TEXT the provided number because they cannot accept phone calls. When finally getting someone to call me, which was the owner, we were instructed to walk to another cabin that was vacant and ācleanedā to grab new linens and whatever we needed. Cabin 5, was in worse shape than ours. I informed the owner. At this point just over it and very frustrated. I expressed this to the owner and the next solution was being told Iād be fully refunded if I left that night. At 11:30pm, all the way back to the valley, at 11:30pm. Which full refund - okay, fair. But still missing the point that not just our cabin is filthy but so was the one you directed us to and no one there on site to bring clean ones or help.. We decided to stay and covered up with our hoodies and the cleanest looking towels we could find as blankets. Owner informed us that the cleaners would be there first thing at 10am.
So next morning, they donāt get there until right before 11am. They did come straight to us, but with only a vacuum, some cleaning spray and a microfiber cloth.. goes straight to the shower with said cleaning spray and microfiber cloth to ācleanā the shower. Anyone who cleans their shower knows that the build up requires a good scrub.. this cleaner sprayed twice and used that towel to do a quick wipe. Then confesses the shower only gets scrub-cleaned 1-2 a month and that they didnāt have a scrub to clean on site. (I HAVE NEVER STAYED SOMEWHERE WITH SUCH A DIRTY SHOWER FLOOR). Straight up had to turn our sandals into shower shoes in order to shower.
This turned into a very long review.. But to conclude, I suggest someone on site at all times, or at least a number you can actually call, and the owners actually driving up to see what their business looks like. Managing their cleaners stricter. Or just drop their prices if you donāt care about standards. After the cleaners left, and I explained to the owner that he admitted never cleaning showers and that his hair tends to get everywhere. We were offered a refund for our final night and we did take the offer and unfortunately cut our trip one day short.
We have been trying to make a trip to these cabins since theyāve opened. We were so excited to come. And just turned out extremely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI stayed with my niece and little dog in pet-friendly Cabin #2 for two nights this past weekend (August 2021). In discussing this pending review, I asked her how many stars out of five she would give it. She said "80,000." This was a wonderful, adorable, convenient place to stay. The beds are comfortable, but we also brought some extra pillows and blankets for additional coziness. Wi-Fi is strong enough to stream shows/movies. The kitchen is well stocked with basic cookware and dishes. We made breakfast and one dinner, but also were able to store/heat up snacks and restaurant leftovers. Other reviewers suggested bringing Kleenex, which I did and was glad. I also brought some hand soap for the kitchen. The bathroom has one of those little hotel bars of soap, but it was nice to have a pump bottle of soap for the kitchen. The bathroom was large and comfortable. There's a ton of storage - way more than we needed for a two-night trip - but everything had a place so we didn't have to navigate cluttered countertops either. Good hot water and water pressure. The small yard was fine for my little dog. She's in a cone at the moment and is 6 lbs so wouldnt be left alone ever, but it was a nice little place to corral her, with my niece standing guard, while I brought things in and then moved out of the cabin on the last day. it was also an adequate place for a midnight potty break. It would be fine for a big dog, too, just not for a lot of running around. I was worried about parking because the assigned spots are all curbside parking, but they're large enough that even if you had to actually parallel park and not pull forward, it wouldn't be too difficult. The location is right across from the General Store, so walking distance to the Cookie Cabin and Sawmill Run Restaurant. The trip was so awesome, I actually can't think of even the smallest "constructive criticism." We will definitely be back! I'm so thankful for the owners taking this risk and putting in these little cabins. I wish them much success and hope they are around for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJust left Mount Lemmon Hotel. Mostly a great stay but a few things brought it down a notch. The cabin itself was in very good shape and there's a full kitchen if you want to cook. Wifi and cable work great. I stayed in cabin 10, which I would stay in again. I recommend cabins 10-15 because they are just a little higher from street level than the rest. I came off peak so I'm sure it's a zoo during the summer.
Parking here is great for cabins 1-9, since the lot is in back of these cabins. So if you bring items, such as a cooler and luggage, it's a bit of a hike to the other cabins.
Another downside is that the hotel charges $40 for cleaning and amenities, which I don't mind, but then, make sure they are good. For example, the hotel says that they provide shampoo and conditioner. They are single-use size, which isn't great if you've got two people staying. Also, the conditioner was green. I'm not using green conditioner. And why not provide lotion, too? That's what hotels do.
Lastly, the kitchen pots and pans could use an update. Great size for one person, but definitely not for a couple.
One thing that I've seen in other reviews is criticism of the bed. The mattress is very solid. Surprisingly, I liked it a lot, but I can see why some wouldn't. If I were the owners, I might consider an upgrade, but I'm sure margins are thin when in hospitality.
I came for peace and rest, and that's what I got. If I decided to return to Summerhaven, I would definitely consider returning to Mt. Lemmon Hotel (even though it's cabins, not a hotel).
And this is about the town and not the hotel, but there are few options for food. The grocery store is expensive and only Beyond Bread is open seven days a week. The other two restaurants are closed M/T or T/W, not great if one stays M-W. There's a cookie shop that sells pizza. I bought a couple of slices and they quickly went...
