The Lake Huron Resort — Hotel in Oscoda Township

Update: the resort has canceled people's rooms associated with me because I have added photos of everything. Even though these people are not the ones that wrote the review. They are so mad that I had a horrible experience and wrote a review LOL knowing their rooms are gross. Therefore I have deleted the photos but if you're interested in seeing them just comment and I'll send them to you. It just goes to show what kind of business is being run here.

It's straight up disgusting. They renovated half the rooms about 5 years ago and we always get put in the ones that have mold and are not renovated. The rooms smell so bad I bet if you lift the carpet up it's straight fungus growing under it. Your feet stick to the carpets, there are screws coming through the bottom of the tub floor. All showers don't drain and fill up with sand and water. The floor by the toilet sinks backwards and the bathroom doors do not close. There are stains everywhere and the smell is so god awful you try to Febreze it and it does nothing. No body comes to clean your rooms or give you new towels. It's absolutely horrible. Every-time I feel like we are going to catch a disease . The beds are so old they sink down in the middle. To top it off all the rooms are moist. We opened a bag of chips and within 20 minutes all the chips were damp. It's a motel out of a scary movie. Two years ago everyone got bed bugs. Last year the shower wall fell in on one of the people in our group. People have to lay towels down on the floor to make a safe path to walk in the room so your feet don't stick to the floor. It's honestly repulsive and the only reason people stay here is because it has a great beach spot. Don't let them fool you they repainted the outside and hung some cute lights outside. But once night time hits and you have to go to bed it's better to sleep on the beach instead of risking your life staying in their disgusting...

We made reservations months ago at The Lake Huron Resort and I told them not only were we staying December 23rd until December 26th but that we were shopping for a motel for an upcoming wedding in June for ourselves and other wedding guests.

Well I called all day Monday and Tuesday to extend our stay starting Thursday because of the incoming weather. I could not get an answer on the phone and I tried repeatedly. I even sent an email with no response. I finally had my daughter, who lives in Oscoda go to the motel and there was a sign on the door saying they were closed but to call this number. She did and in the meantime she posted on the Oscoda Facebook page and a lady responded and met her at the motel.

She was able to add Thursday and we come up Thursday before the winter storm. We were told by my daughter that they told her they were closed on Mondays. When we checked in we were told they were closed Monday and Tuesday. Today with the technology a phone can be forwarded to another phone such as a cell phone but it still doesn’t help a customer who drops in.

When we checked in we asked for a discount for our troubles but was told no. Yes the room was nice so no complaints there but the rates they charge for not being able to use any of the amenities because of winter seemed very high. Been going to this place since 2016. Owners then MUCH more accommodating than owners now. Used to book the next year's stay upon checkout & didn't have any problem booking my usual week. Last year, my week already given away, & had to find a different week to book. Then a month or so ago, get a phone call from them, asking me to give up my room for a "long-time" customer, who "usually stays" in that room because that customer forgot to book!!! So, some "long-time customers" (I read that as friends/relatives of the new owners) are treated like royalty, while others like me, get the shaft!!! The new owners did not give me, a regular, yearly renter for the past 7 years, even 1 thought as they rented out my week to others, & then after screwing me out of my regular week, try to screw me out of the week/room I had to settle for!!! VERY INCONSIDERATE!!! Cancelled this year's reservation, & I will NEVER stay at this place again. Oh, & even tho there is NO housekeeping service (need towels? Go to the office & get some. Need your garbage emptied? Put it outside your room, etc) you are expected to tip the...
