This campground has become the new standard on how I personally rate where we stay. My old standard--in Door County--has been replaced; something I thought would never happen. This is a "kid" friendly place without the chaos that sometimes comes with "kid" friendly campgrounds. While the "extras" DO cost for use, they are just that "extras". You can find plenty of things to do without adding cost except for the pay showers-- very clean by the way. My five year old granddaughter had a great time here and found many other young people with which to enjoy the pool and playground. We DID buy the wrist band that was good for our entire 5 day stay and we felt she got good use out that as well. We were not bothered by noise, bugs, drinking campers or anything else others have mentioned in their reviews. Although crowded over the weekend, we were almost alone Monday to Wednesday. The cabins/cottage (only one so far and also very nice--we rented this for our daughter, son-in-law and their young children) have been redone and are very nice. Yes, you do need to bring your own bedding/towels/etc but where have you stayed in a campground cabin where that has been provided?? We were well aware that this would be the case not only from the website but also in speaking with the staff while making reservations. No bedding or towels should not have been a surprise. Before we left, we booked our stay for summer 2017. Renting two RV spaces and the one bedroom cabin. We are excited to be going back and sharing this wonderful place with our children and grandchildren! If the owners were to ask me what I would change I would offer only one suggestion--take out the pay showers. Your staff is well equipped to deal with cleaning the restrooms. You don't need the additional income this might generate and you MAY be alienating some of your clientele. I know I am a bit put-off by pay showers as I think most frequent campers are too no matter how clean. About the staff...everyone I dealt with was friendly, positive and knowledgeable. They have great people working for them both young and not so young. We'll be back! I have spent a lifetime evaluating people and places in my work as an Administrator; this place...
Read moreWe first visited this campground years ago with our kids. We loved it! Super clean, tons of activities and ran by management with emphasis in a nice family oriented experience. We became seasonal campers after a few years of weekend camping, but we didn't stay long, our kids outgrew the activities and the pool always seemed crowded. We reserved a weekend site for May 15-16, to visit with seasonal friends. Wow, this campground is now group party central. I am not sure when family camping became the adults drinking, blasting music and partying at a site while the kids ran around the campground unsupervised. Our site was surrounded by loud music, kids screaming, cutting through sites while the adults party at another. We visited with our friends and borrowed their golf cart, we were cruising the seasonal area which is up a hill and as we turned to a back road at the bottom, we were met by orange cones several inches into the road and hostile stares from the large group of 30s somethings playing on the side of the road, as if we were trespassing. We also noticed a large utility truck with a cherry picker bucket parked on an empty site on that same street. We commented our encounter to our seasonal friends, who confirmed they are a multiple site group mostly on that street, who takes over it and attempts to block or discourage traffic. They also mentioned the unwelcomed changes since they signed up. We could hear music blasting from a golf cart as well. Later, we saw one of the group providing rides in the bucket, going up several stories high with kids and adults. What kind of campground safety policy allows this? How lax are the courtesy rules where a group can try to block a street and then act as if traffic is trespassing? How little do campers think about management to basically act as if they own the area? If this is the new definition of family camping, we are glad not to be part of it and we are only in our 40s. Beautiful, family owned campground that...
Read moreWe arrived in a rainstorm in the dark and had NO problem finding our site. The paved roads were very easy to navigate with our pickup and 30 foot travel trailer and had plenty of room to spare. Ok now on to the fun stuff.....Hmmm...where do I begin. Should I start at the pool which is a great temperature or do I start at the kiddie pool which I'd like to add had buckets dumping water on their little heads and a mushroom that had water overflowing from the top...the pools were great. The bouncing pillow actually supports a fatty like myself which I did try and then realized I wasn't a kid at 49 anymore so the 5 mins winded me...done with that. The Mini-golf was great, not all beat up like most you would expect to find at most places. The playground was exactly what your child would want in a playground with plenty of equipment to run, climb, hang and even dig from. There are enough amenities to keep everyone in your group content for days on end and I don't want to leave out the warm showers they have...perfect ending. The sites are exactly what you would want. Even the tent sites are amazing. Well kept, well groomed and each with a picnic table and fire ring, all surrounded by mature trees for a little privacy but not hiding you completely. We were there for 4 days total and weren't bothered by any noise and campground etiquette wasn't even an issue...no loud drinks or rude kids buzzing through the site. I would stay at Stoney Creek anytime. The staff are awesome, the buildings are well kept, plenty to do, and our 6, 9 & 12 yr old didn't want to leave and too be honest.....neither did I or my wife. Well be back and if you read this review I hope your stay is as great as...
