This place has proved to be a hidden gem on our spontaneous road trip through California. We were not planning to come here, but we had a brief look into a guide called "California Hot Springs" and decided to stay a night here to experience the area. When we arrived at night, a very unhelpful and rude employee at the Tecopa Camping grounds and Pools sent us away regardless of our online reservation...We had a brief argument that involved the story of a blackout a few days earlier, the internet (and how it is NOT affected by blackouts), and his argument that the guests in our cottage had shown him the same automatic confirmation email earlier... But then, we found our way into the Bistro of the Resort where Perez and his wife Laura immediately sensed our despair. I have been travelling a lot and it was fascinating to meet such a familiar and genuine environment where tourists (or actually travelers) are not perceived as "walking wallets" or intruders! They accommodated us in a room that had been previously cancelled and we had a direct access to the famous indoor-pools - around midnight it felt like a perfect begin of a truly unique experience. And it certainly was! The rooms are indeed rustic, in the sense that the furniture is somewhat dated and one can see how the place has been built step by step in a a generalay - for us, it was important that everything was clean and this was certainly the case! Moreover, the chef at the Bistro, Jack, impressed us repeatedly with his skills mixing his French/Scottish Cuisine with American dishes. We fell in love with his Blueberry Pancakes with Ricotta on top and his Desert Pig/Pulled Pork! The best food while listening to music on the stage next to the Bistro (apparently, there are many Gigs during the high-season on the weekend). We changed our plans and then decided to stay another night to experience the Wild Hot Springs by Moonlight - I was not a fan of the desert, but this place was unique and magic in how it captured a spirit of familiarity, genuine curiosity/interest (I will miss Mr. Perez's hugs!), and a setting off the beaten tracks! There is certainly more I would write about, but for now: I look forward to see you all soon and, again, thousand thanks for all your help to accommodate us on such a short notice and making our stay something unique!

Ended up booking a room here because "Delights Hot springs" was fully booked for the night and we weren't ready to head back to Vegas after staying one night at Delights Hot Springs. Tecopa Hot Srings Resort had openings and saw there was a Bistro on the property so we figured we'd give it a try. Staff, Amy and Kyle are friendly enough.   The room  #11 that we stayed in was clean and had the minimal basics.   Beds were clean ,comfy and on the firm side.  Room had a small mini fridge , nice towels and A/C.  No blow dryers. There was no coffee maker in the room which was a Huge let down.  So that will make the morning rough. There is No Wifi and no signal at all in our room. The " hot spring tubs "were small and basic but were clean. They were also in an indoor  area that may have been another  room at one time or a large hallway. Had read about the lil Bistro on property...but this was a Sunday evening and they were closed.  So I guess we will be driving back to Shoshone to the CrowBar for dinner.  Bistro is  supposed to open for breakfast so we will see in the morning. I am assuming that since this is the end of their "busy season" that is why the live music we read about on their website wasn't happening either. Well after driving back to the Crow Bar for dinner...we returned to Tecopa Hot springs "resort" went up the hill on the property to see the Labyrinth which was pretty interesting, and then decided to head to the hot tubs. Well got in the first hot tub by the door walked to the far side sat down looked into the water and was like "what is that.?" Hubby handed me a cup and yep...scooped out a drowned scorpion. Immediately got out of the tubs grabbed our things that were in the connecting room and drove back home to Vegas without staying the night. Yes I know this is the desert and this might happen but for it to be at the bottom already dead means the tubs aren't checked on too often. Definitely will only be staying at Delights from now on.

If you're expecting a 5 star resort then this is not the place for you! But if you have realistic expectations of an old West west town Hot Springs and you will love this place. From the minute we arrived Kyle, The camp host greeted us in a most spectacular way. And it was there and then we were given our key and given the entire lowdown on this fabulous place. The rooms were comfortable but a little bit dated but at least they were clean. The pool house was immaculate as were the pool stalls for your hot tub soaking. Very clean very private and enjoyable. We will definitely be back with our terrier Buddy as he really enjoyed this place as well but be aware there's no Wi-Fi and few conveniences but definitely a great place to get away from everything especially the big city and watch the sunset and soak in wonderful mineral baths that make your skin very smooth and soft.

Wow. This is the worst experience I have ever had, that I can remember, in seventy years of traveling in the American West and all over the world actually. I was the guest of a paying customer and decided to pay for another day after he left. I could not find the host but saw a golf cart at the hot pool building. The host was bathing in one of the two pools, came out, wrapped in a towel and ask me what I wanted. I explained that I'd like to pay for one night at site 62. The host seemed confused at what I was saying and unable to comprehend any simple information. It was clear to me that she was not functioning well at all. She appeared to need help. I made the mistake of asking if she was okay and if she was stoned on anything and could I help. She immediately flew into a psychotic rage, waving arms and yelling insults. I immediately left and went back to my site. Later she drove up to where I was and told me I needed to pay $45 for one night. I politely ask if that was the rate for off-season. Because of her anger I felt like she was possibly charging me more. Just checking. Again, she went into a psychotic rage, and I do mean psychotic. I pulled out two twenties, then went to my truck to get the rest of the charge. When I got back with the $5, she had left. She soon came back with a receipt for $45, a $10 and a $5, which I accepted without comment, because I had learned my lesson not to speak. Sorry, this is so long, but I feel it's important to share. I do not feel like this person is safe to be around. In about an hour, the owner showed up with a male friend, both of them emitting extreme hostility vibes. These are extremely angry people. They wanted me to leave immediately and had the money to give back to me for the night stay. I explained that my the cat was roaming, and I could not leave till she got back. So they agreed to let me stay the night, and that was that. I still wonder if she had $45 to give me, or $25. I probably missed out on a $15 profit, ha! I dared not ask. 😬 I found the whole episode to be extremely...
