Was in town for a business thing and needed just one night. Online pricing was all over the place from $129 to $85. I’ll get to value in a minute. Our room was the first one on the ground floor right around the corner from the front desk. A bit loud, but I guess since we paid “the least” posted rate, we got a comparable room. Still, room in general, was clean. TV channel list boasted of channels our TV didn’t get. Watched our weekly shows on our tablets. The bed was average in comfort but the pillows were small and “cotton candy” fluffy. Glad I had my own. |The following morning, breakfast was prepackaged sweet rolls and yogurt, I get this because COVID. What was a surprise was watching a young boy put his fingers in his mouth and then use the mouse for the computer in the lobby. He appears to belong to one of the ladies behind the check in desk from what I observed. We were in the breakfast space for maybe 30 minutes and I didn’t see anyone wipe down the computer/mouse workspace. Just an observation because, you know, COVID. |The bathroom was clean with the exception of the vent, it hadn’t been dusted/cleaned in quite some time. A black washcloth was on the counter with a laminated note to use for makeup and a red towel was on the counter to be used for spills. There was also mention of brown towels but I didn’t see brown towels. We did have cream colored washcloths for bathing, they looked more like dirty white washcloths but, generally, a clean space. |Lastly, and here’s where “you get what you pay for” comes in, three walls had cracks nearly all the way across. Aesthetically, this was a hard pill to swallow for $90+. Pictures included so you can be aware. Enlarge them for better viewing. |I wish I could give this place a better rating because the people were nice but our room wasn’t worthy of more...
Read morePaola Inn and Suites is really the only option for a hotel in Paola. My family has stayed there several times while visiting family members that live in Paola. This past experience was very good, despite Covid 19. We were in town for a funeral. The manager bent over backwards in trying to accommodate us with anything we needed. We needed quite a number of rooms because of the extended family coming in.
The breakfast area needs to have more than a superficial cleaning though. We used it as a gathering place for our group family dinner and we cleaned up afterwards. It was obvious that whoever cleans the room doesn't pay attention to detail.
The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5: we had a suite and when we walked into the room the heat hit us like a brick wall - in June. It must have been at least 100 degrees in the room. No AC on, and curtains weren't pulled to block the hot afternoon sun. My biggest complaint is that in the bedroom portion of the suite there was no AC and no way to get it into the room other than to sit a fan in the middle of the floor with the cord stretched as far as possible - hoping not to trip over it - to get it as close as we could to the bedroom to try and blow the cooler air in. It took a number of hours to cool the sitting portion and most of the night to cool the bedroom. Perhaps a little money should be invested into installing an AC in the bedroom. Other than that thank you management for your kind...

No problem...except it kept going on 'til 12:50 a.m. Our room and theirs had a shared "door" that we'd locked on our side.
