I would give zero star to this place after I read the owner's response. Excuse after excuse, making up stories, attacking victims just to cover their butts... I'm so disgusted.

You'd be fine as long as nothing happens during your stay, but if someone gets injured or something happens, then they just pretend that's nothing to do with them and give you no help.

My original post is at the end, but long story short, my dog and husband got bitten by a loose dog and they just decided to ignore it after they learned what had happened.

Below is my response to the owner.

I don't know why you behave like this. Maybe because you don't want to give a refund? Fine, I didn't ask for it, and I didn't need it. The only thing I expected was checked in immediately after you learned about the incident. "Are you guys okay? Do you need any help? I'm sorry this happened. I'll make sure it won't happen again" That's all I needed.

Don't make up a story. Pet policy was included in the confirmation email but didn't mention anything about registration. We did everything that was asked in this email.

Yes, our dog is very nervous with new people and barks at them, but he's very timid and just want the people to go away. Never attacked anyone or any other animals. Also, he's very friendly to other dogs.

And what are you trying to say in this response? You assume my dog started the fight just because he barked at you? No, I was there and he did nothing. He didn't bark at the other dog. He didn't show any aggression towards the dog.

Sounds like you're trying to blame us, but him barking at you and got attacked by the dog are two different things. We took all the precautions and that was not his or our fault. I find this response very disgusting.

Again, don't make up a story. No, you did not approach me. We didn't discuss. I saw you sitting by the building hours later and I approached you and asked if you'd heard what had happened. I told you that my husband and had left so no need for breakfast. That's all.

Yes, I asked you to send immunization records, but you guys did nothing until I asked. You guys just wanted to act like nothing had happened. When you called your mother or mother-in-law or whoever that was taking care of your son "a neighbor", I immediately thought you were just trying to pretend it was nothing to do with you.

I'm glad you did it , and I hope this is not another lie.

Original review

The reason I'm giving 1 starts is that our dog got attacked by the off leash neighbor's dog (the owner said neighbor, but clearly a family member) and my husband got bitten trying to break up the fight, but the owner's response was very underwhelming.

We were walking our dog in the farm near where we stayed and our dog was on a leash. The neighbor's dog showed up and both dogs were sniffing each other at first, then the dog started attacking ours. Our dog was bleeding a little bit and my husband got several bite marks on his arm. He was very upset and decided to go back home but he wanted our son to enjoy so our son and I stayed. Later the day, I saw the farm owner. I told her that my husband wouldn't need breakfast and asked her if she heard what had happened. She said yes and she was sorry but I couldn't believe she didn't contact us immediately to check if everyone was okay. We were their guests and this happened in their property. Our dog is a large, double coated dog but it could have been much worse if he was a smaller dog.

I wouldn't recommend taking your dog there. Also, I don't think they should accept guests with dogs anymore. I hope they take...

Definitely recommend this place.

We stayed at a nearby campground near hershey park for the first 4 days of our trip, and knowing how crazy Hershey may be, wanted a quiet place with just enough for our family afterwards. We looked around and thought, what better place than a farm where my 8yr old can learn a little about farming life.

Upon arrival, you just go to check in, get your paper and key, and go to your room. We stayed at the little white house, room 7, because of the king sized bed. The room with two queen beds was already taken. My wife preferred the little white house, but just a warning, it's on a state route so it can be loud. Even for someone who lived in queens a few blocks away from laguardia. There is also a train that runs through, but it's quiet, you don't even hear it. It also only runs during business hours. No loud horn and 1 mile long freight train in the middle of the night.

The house has that rustic smell. It was clean compared to the campground we stayed at. The kitchen is nice and updated, and the living room is cozy. We walked upstairs to the bedroom, and it was spacious. But be warned, no TV. So you'll have to do some sightseeing . The bed was comfortable for wife and daughter. I found it too soft. I laid out and sunk into it. Which meant daughter kept rolling into me all night. The coffee was good that they provide you. Be sure to bring bottles of water.

There has been a shortage of workers at restaraunts, so after the first night, we just decided to cook breakfast. Stop by the local farms to pick up your produce. I enjoyed the filet mignon from the farm at home. Hoping they consider a grill for the white house. Would have loved to grill up some of these steaks I brought home.

The farm chores is the same thing as the farm tour. So you don't have to sign up for the 1030 tour or 230 tour, unless you don't wake up early. This is where you learn things like milking a cow, hold a chicken, hold a goat, and learn about the farm. My daughter loved it. You'll see cats walking around. Don't try to hold them, they scratch. Just hold your hand out in front of them. The goats are the most engaging. The tour guides provided a lot of insight on the farm, and its past and current operations.

They let you walk around the farm throughout the day. So my daughter would go say goodnight to the animals before we turn in. Three nights was enough for us, where we didn't do much sightseeing but just enjoyed the farm tranquility and interacting with the animals. We did venture out to the cherry Hill adventure farm which could have been an all day excursion for my 8yr old (if it wasn't for storms). Down on the farm creamery had some awesome ice cream as well. Lancaster city Market was a great go to for meats and produce. However, I do want to encourage checking out the farm stands all along the roads here. We got some awesome produce from the individual farms, as well as meats.

On our last day we walked through the farms. If we came a week later, we may have seen the sunflowers bloom. But we enjoyed it.

Definitely...

I thought I had reviewed this place already, and was going to leave an update, but it seems like it's not here anymore.

We stayed here back in 2021, and our experience in 2024 is comparable, if not better.

They made some changes. In the room We stayed in (room 7, little white house), it was a king bed. The owner Elisa must have received my feedback about the bed being too soft, and put in Two queen beds. The beds were clean (my wife didn't have to use the sheets she packed), and the room was comfortable once you got the A.C going. The kitchen was clean for our daily cooks. The owner also must have listened to me from my last visit about putting a grill there. I love grilling steak and was bummed I couldn't grill last time. This time I could. Hats off to the owner Elisa for listening to her patrons!

The house has an awesome view of the pond and the farmhouse. Watching the sun set and the cows roam the fields was very calming for me, and brought me back to sanity.

The staff was very friendly and patient with me as I learned their new system. They try to take Sundays off given they work 6 days a week from sun up to sun down, and responded to my inquiry about their new system on a Sunday. It's important to read what they sent as everything I had a question on was in there. Any other questions regarding places to eat, what to do, etc can be answered by their chore guide or after breakfast.

Speaking of breakfast, if you're lucky, you will get to try their yogurt and their awesome biscuits! Their beef sausage was better this time (last time I felt the flavor was too beefy but not this time).

My daughter was excited to have baby goats climbing all over her again. Unfortunately we screwed up on the timing and booked a weekend before the babies were to come.

I feared things may have changed here after reading some reviews. But I think those reviewers didn't quite realize this isn't a 5 star resort. If you want time away from the hustle and bustle, and to unwind in a casual laid back environment, this is the place. No fancy beds, no fancy water, just a quiet relaxing time. What to expect is tranquility, with a slight adjustment to farm life of no high water pressure :). My wife is very picky and she did not feel uncomfortable at all.

There's a few things to do around as well. Hershey park is about an hour. If your kids are younger, Dutch wonderland is about 15 minutes away, and cherry hill adventure farm is about 5 minutes away. Dutch wonderland is Great for the younger kids who can't ride many of the rides at hershey, or have no patience. The outlets are also 15 minutes away too. I found the outlets to be pretty good in terms of staff friendliness, clean, and had great deals.

Definitely check...

We really enjoyed our stay at VVF. My toddler and I stayed in the Little White House room 6 which was spacious and comfortable with good working Wifi. There is even a perfect sized rocking chair and picture window for a toddler. It also helped that there were two beds and a bath tub when traveling with kids. Things to be aware of: it’s right on the main road so there is a lot of traffic noise (I’m a light sleeper so it did keep me awake but thankfully the kiddo slept through that). You can also hear the train but it doesn’t run late at night. Also, you need to bring your own shampoo, I didn’t realize that but I did have my son’s baby shampoo so thankfully used that. It was great having a full kitchen and living room downstairs and while there are two other rooms that can be rented out, we were the only ones there at the time and had the whole house to ourselves. We loved doing the farm chores and visiting with the animals. Breakfast was great and there is so much to do in the area (Railroad museum, Strasburg Railroad, Choo Choo barn, Cherry Crest Adventure Farm). We had a blast and would recommend staying here.

This farm was wonderful! We checked into our room (#7), which was on the second floor of the little white house, after a busy day. It was just perfect for two people though it will fit more. The bathroom was roomy, with a farm view from the toilet (haha). We made sure to set an alarm to be at the barn at 7:30am the next morning to help with farm chores. It was so cool. We collected eggs, fed and watered animals, milked the cow, etc. The farm dog, Scooby, made us laugh. He ran around barking in circles, like he was in charge. After farm chores guests went to the main house dining room for a family style breakfast. Everything was delicious. The meal was scrambled eggs with ham, potatoes, and a delicious looking cinnamon bun thing (which we couldn't enjoy due to being gluten free - not their fault). I liked that we sang a quick grace/blessing before eating and that the host has everyone introduce themselves. The goats for our top vote for favorite highlight from our stay. They were hilarious jumping around and climbing on my kiddo. He is still talking about it days later. Overall, an awesome visit and we would visit again.

Tre was the most incredible tour guide!! This was absolutely the highlight of our weekend staying out in PA. The amount of information we got was so exciting - the farm tour wasn’t just a petting zoo or demonstration, it was a very personal hands-on experience. You could really tell how much love everyone on Verdant View Farm has for their animals and jobs. The tour group size was lovely and we all learned a lot. Tre was super warm, welcoming, and engaging. I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide - even as someone who works at a zoo with farm animals, I learned a lot, both about the stories of these specific animals and about husbandry on a farm in general. It’s hard to even name one highlight from the tour because every stop was a delight. This was something we added to the itinerary on our trip on a whim, but now I would absolutely come back to the area just to do another tour. Thank you, Tre, and thank you Verdant View!
