My wife and I stayed at Woodfield Manor for two nights in August 2023. We had a pleasant stay at the hotel but might not return for a future trip if we found ourselves in the Poconos area again. Here are my thoughts on the pluses and minuses of this accommodation:
Pros: Generally quiet. Unlike cavernous hotels where one can be bothered by the noise of elevators or the ice machine or doors in the hallway opening and closing at all times of the day, that's not the case here. The place is far from most hustle and bustle and the way the rooms are spaced out, noise levels are fairly low. The rooms, while old, were clean and included some useful amenities like a small fridge as well as a microwave. Parking: Parking was super-convenient right next to the suite itself where we stayed at. Therefore, loading our luggage in and out of the car was a breeze.
Cons: The size of the bed. The room where we stayed in did not have a king bed. (As another reviewer notes, it didn't even feel like a queen; it felt smaller.) Accordingly, if we were to come back for a subsequent trip with our daughter, this place would surely not work for us. Lack of a restaurant: Let alone free breakfast, there is no restaurant attached to the hotel that's open throughout the day. The restaurant on the property - Frogtown Chophouse - where we ate on our first night is open only for dinner from 5:00 p.m. onwards. Therefore, if one wants breakfast as they start off their day, one has to look elsewhere and virtually all places we considered (and ate at) were at least 8-10 minutes away BY CAR. Service: There isn't a front desk staff present throughout during all times of the day. Therefore, if one realizes that they are missing a toothpaste at night before heading to bed, one is out of luck because the front desk closes at 7 p.m. on weekdays and 8 p.m. on weekends. I might also note that when making my reservations over the phone with the hotel directly, I had mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. It would have been nice to see some recognition of that fact, whether it was something as simple as a card left in the room or mentioning it as we were checking in, but there was no recognition whatsoever.
All in all, therefore, I would rate this accommodation as meeting the basics in most respects but not all (e.g. the lack of a restaurant), it certainly isn't a luxurious...
Read moreMy wife and I just returned from Woodfield Manor Resort after a week of vacation. The hospitality we received was world-class. It was the best vacation we've had in many years. As we were driving to the location, Chuck, the general manager, reached out to welcome us on the day of our arrival. When we arrived, we were welcomed and made to feel right at home. He and the staff were always available and took care of everything we needed right away. They gave us some great suggestions for sightseeing and things to do. We had a wonderful time during our entire stay.||The location was quiet with a relaxed Family atmosphere. And the room was warm and cozy with a fireplace. There were many great local restaurants and a premium shopping outlet nearby for everything we needed.||The in-house Frogtown Chophouse restaurant was amazing. The restaurant manager and staff were just as friendly and hospitable as the Woodfield Manor staff. The food was exceptional and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We even bought extra to take home.|||We loved our experience so much that we tried to make an excuse to stay an extra day because of a snow forecast. However, the snow didn't stick so we came reluctantly returned home. ☺️||A special Thank You to Chuck, Nikki, the maintenance engineer, the restaurant manager, and the staff. You all made our stay a most wonderful experience. We are coming back! This is going to be our lovely home away from home. We look forward to our next visit and seeing you again. ||Thanks again, for making our stay...
Read moreThis was my third time staying at the Woodfield Manor. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality by the staff on site – especially by the general manager, who went above and beyond to make us feel at home upon check-in.||The grounds of the property are absolutely gorgeous – lush, peaceful, and impeccably maintained. It was so nice to see the grounds during the spring-time where there's lots of greenery. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into keeping everything pristine and inviting. We stayed in one of the cabins on site, which was spotless, cozy, and beautifully maintained. We were even surprised with a complimentary bottle of wine in celebration of our anniversary – such a thoughtful touch that made our stay even more special - especially after a long drive!||When looking for places to eat nearby, the staff was incredibly helpful in recommending fantastic restaurants both on-site (The Chophouse which was delicious!) and in the surrounding area – perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We left feeling relaxed, happy, and already planning our return. Woodfield Manor is truly a gem, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. We’ll definitely be back again for our next...
