My wife and I love to try new, non commercialized places. We decided on this restaurant for my birthday. We made reservations prior to arriving. The lady on the phone was very pleasant when I called. Upon arrival, the exterior ambiance of the restaurant is very quaint and cozy. Upon walking in, we were quickly greeted in a friendly and welcoming manner and were quickly seated. The restaurant appeared very clean and organized. It was very cozy as well. We were provided water and were quickly waited on by Larissa. She was very pleasant and provided quality service with a smile. We ordered our drinks and then our food. My wife and I both had the shrimp and crab bisque. Excellent choice and very tasty. My wife had the filet mignon with the smashed red potatoes and asparagus. She also added the 4oz crab cake. I had the bone in ribeye with the smashed red potatoes and asparagus. I also added the 4oz crab cake. Both were ordered medium and came perfectly prepared and were asthetically pleasing. The asparagus and the potatoes were also excellent. The crab cakes...wow! Full of crab and no filler! Definitely worth the money!!! My wife, in general conversation, mentioned to the waitress that it was my birthday. She offered complimentary dessert but we gracefully declined as we had birthday cake at home. We thought that this was a very nice gesture. The waitress came back and told us that my bisque was on the house since we declined the dessert. We didn't expect that and thought it was a wonderful gesture. Thank you! It may appear expensive at first glance, but you get what you pay for and this was worth every single penny! We will definitely be back again and already recommended it to a co-worker. Good job to the Chef, waitress and everyone else involved in our wonderful dining experience. To the owner(s), you should be very proud of your restaurant and your staff! Here is our review: Service - 10 Cleanliness - 10 Speed - 10 Quality - 10 Value - 10 Overall dining experience - 10 Sorry, I dug into the crab cake before taking pictures, but it looked so good, I forgot about pictures. Here is what I took. Enjoy!

Well, well, well, this meal was fabulous and Michelle made it even more so! We are on the area for our anniversary and wants to try various local restaurants. So flag this was one of them! We made reservations, good thing plus they were suggested. We arrived on time. The restaurant is inside the manor inn so the parking lot is part of the inn. However, they also have one across the streetin case the one is full. Walked in and right away we could see they were busy. People waiting in line and others waiting for the bar. But we were seated pretty quickly. Since it was our anniversary the hostess told us we got a free dessert, gave us menus and explained the wine list. It actually took longer than usual for our waitress to come over but she apologized, explaining she got caught up but the hostess steered her to our table. It wasn't bad though because we weren't in a hurry and it gave us time to really look over the menu. We both ordered a Pretty Cello drink with our appetizer of spinach and crab dip. These came out in a very timely manner, along with the chefs nibble of a potato fritter. Everything was delicious. I appreciated you could actually taste the crab in the dip. The drinks were also very well made. Hubby got a caesar salad and the dressing was delicious. Then our entries came and they looked wonderful! Hubby's was the seafood. The sauce was creamy and bubbly and luxuriously yummy. Lots of seafood too. I ordered the duck and just looking at it I could tell it was going to be fantastic! I wasn't wrong either. The skin was wonderfully crispy with the meat moist and cooked just right. Michelle was great throughout the entire evening, helping us with the menu choices and just simply small talk. Then we ordered the bread pudding, after Michelle's explanation...it's made fresh on the premises. This was the best bread pudding I've ever had and that is no lie. We had a fabulous dinner, excellent service and an overall enjoyable and delicious meal. I would highly recommend The Frogtown Chophouse and if we are ever in the area again I'll definitely be back!

I went here with about 10 or so guys for a bachelor party and honestly was disappointed. I will start with the good, the service was too notch we got seated right away and the team helping us was polite, prompt and very accommodating. They were definitely the five star part if there was one. Kudos to them. The drinks were average, we all agreed nothing special, the one really good one we liked was the martini with blue cheese, that was solid. Now the bad...the food. This is a steakhouse and we all were couldn't believe how bad the steaks were. Not one person's steak came out correctly, zero. I ordered medium rare and it was literally burnt(black) to a crisp on the bottom, dried out and way over done. This was a consistent theme for everyone all the steaks were way overcooked, we all compared and no one had any red in their steaks and completely tasteless no matter what cut we had. The sides are tiny and came out cold, I had cold mushrooms and very cold spinach. Lastly when we got the bill we realized that we were given two menus with two sets of pricing. Thank God we kept the menus and noticed. As an example on one menu a bottle of wine was 60 and on the other menus the same bottle was 85. Half our table got one menu the other half got another. Of course when the bill came out we were charged the higher priced menu. Again, service was great and they were great about fixing it but how does that happen. I know this is a long review but want the owners to know the server team was great and only thing that kept it from one star as we come for the food and that was really bad. Someone needs to talk to the kitchen about how to prepare large parties.

1st time - Last time... The positives were a moderately cute atmosphere and the meat was cooked well. Outside of that, the rest was a disaster. My girlfriend had been there a few times, years ago and said it was great. Unfortunately times have drastically changed. It seemed as though it was a restaurant run by High School students without a clue on how to run a successful business. When we first got there, we were standing in a hallway where the host station was. However there was no host. We waited for about 5 minutes and then I walked into the bar area to see if I could find someone to seat us. The bartender said she would find him and send him out. This kid who looked to be about 15 finally came to the host station and looked up our reservation. We were brought to our table, which was fine. We waited around for someone to take our drink order, but that took some time. Then another kid came and asked what kind of water we wanted. He came back a little while later and just dropped a bottle off, without pouring it or saying anything. Then the waitress finally came over and took our drink order. I had a Dirty Martini with top shelf vodka and blue cheese olives and my girlfriend had a rum punch. Her drink was so bad, we sent it back and ordered a glass of wine. Even though we sent the drink back, they still charged us for it. My drink was served in an old style champagne glass, no shaker and incredibly watered down. The blue cheese olives looked as though they were stuffed by a monkey. Instead of bread for the table, they gave us what they called potato pancakes. They should have been called over fried rock chips. Absolutely disgusting... Unfortunately my coconut shrimp app wasn't any better. Way over cooked and disgusting. The meats in our main course was decent, but the price was ridiculous. This may have been a good place to go in the past, but it's terrible now. I'm not sure what happened to this place, but you are going to go out of business if you don't fix the many issues. I'm embarrassed for you. Such a disappointment from start to finish. UPDATE * 1/6/2023 After speaking with Eric (aka. the owner/manager of the Frogtown Chophouse) he convinced me that it was just an off night and to give them another try. Well, last night, I did just that and honestly couldn't have been happier that I did. It was a complete turn around from the last time we went. Everything was perfect. As soon as we opened the door, we were greeted by the host and taken directly to our table, which happened to be next to a cozy fireplace. The atmosphere was everything we could have hoped for. Our waitress was prompt, informative, friendly and professional. Our drink orders were perfect and delivered in a timely manor. Gone were the rock hard potato pancakes, replaced by a delicious crostini plate. We're off to a really great start. We noted that the manager made the rounds to every table, confirming everything was up to par for every patron. It really showed that he cared and would do whatever it took to make the experience a positive one. To be honest, by the vibe in the room, he succeeded with flying colors. Our appetizers were okay, not earth shattering, but still tasty. The entrees on the other hand, were an absolute homerun. I had the filet mignon and my girlfriend had ossobuco. They both were perfectly cook, absolutely delicious and nicely presented. My only comment/suggestion, would be to serve the ossobuco with a small spoon to get at the marrow. We were so full that we didn't do dessert, but I have no doubt, it would have been fabulous, if we had... I spoke with Eric after the meal and conveyed my only negative comment, that hadn't been addressed since my last visit, which was that the acoustics in the room, made it very loud. He assured me that they are looking into sound absorption panels, which will make a huge difference. In closing, I couldn't be happier with the turn around. Clearly he took my prior review to heart. ...

I can’t figure out why people rate this place high because it was the most unpleasant dining experience I had in the Poconos. And the most unpleasant in a Christmas Eve dinner ever. In all honesty, I felt robbed. I could’ve gotten better food for the same price (or even lower) at other nearby restaurants. Honestly, the worst $150 I spent over my week stay in the Poconos.

My wife and I made a reservation for their Christmas buffet priced at $75/pp and we regret having dinner at this place. For the same price, we could’ve gone to Desaki and eat really good food instead we had to settle for the following terrible buffet - by te way ALL the food was cold: Charcuterie board made up mostly of grapes and visibly cheap cheese. Shredded Brussel sprouts seasoned with what appeared to be a full container of salt. You could barely taste them because they were so salty. And not flavorful obviously. COLD crab-stuffed shrimp, and the shrimp was hard - they overcooked it. Jalapeño whipped sweet potatoes that were cold as well. This and the mediterranean pasta were the only items that tasted OK… not great. The prime rib they were serving was just awful. They call themselves a steakhouse but they served the most underwhelming, tasteless piece of steak that I’ve ever eaten at a steakhouse - the steak from the $30 buffet at Mt. Airy casino was so much better than this one. Lastly, the desserts table… it seems they forgot to tell their chef that they needed to make desserts and went to the nearest supermarket to buy a bunch of cheap desserts. It’s the type of dessert that you eat at a small-time convention with thousands of people. The only dessert they seem to have cooked was an ugly-looking peanut butter cake that looked and tasted like a bunch pure peanut butter that they put in the fridge overnight and then served it. The other food is not even worth talking about. You can cook better food at home.

But that’s not all! We had to call the server to come to our table to order 2 glasses of wine because we sat for 10 minutes and were not served by anyone. Thank goodness a family arrived after us, sat next to us, and were served before us - that was the only way we could get the server’s attention.

On top of that, they had the nerve to add a “large group” 20% gratuity to our bill when the service and the food were so terrible. We were 2 people.

It is sad that a place this bad gets so many good reviews that mislead people. Want good food? Don’t come here. Go anywhere else around there, but not the Frogtown Chophouse. I wish I had taken pictures of the food to complete the horror story but we were...

PLEASE READ I am a person that does not leave reviews. My experience at this place could not just be swept under the rug. Fellow diners must know what they are in store for. We were in town for a sporting event. I googled nice restaurants and made a reservation here. I read some of the reviews (good and bad) and figured we would try it. We arrived a tad early for our 8 PM reservation. We were seated right away in the bar as we requested. Our nice young lady server came right over and we placed our drink order. Drinks came right out and then we placed our meal order. We ordered salads, steak entrees and a couple of sides. The salads flew out to us and they were good (816 PM). We both had the caesar salad. We anticipated the entrees being out very soon. Our server came by a few times and checked on us and told us our meals were coming. We were getting antsy around 9 PM. From where we were seated we could see tray after tray going into the dining room. When I asked our server if everything was ok she told us they had a couple of large parties and that the kitchen was a tad backed up. It didn't look that busy to me. I understood and said no problem at all. We continued seeing tray after tray head into the dining room. We saw people at the bar order items and those items come right out in minutes. Granted they were desserts and appetizers, they were still out quick. At this point it's 915 PM. I told my kid that at 930 PM we were leaving if our dinners were not served. At 926 PM our dinners were served. My kid's steak was hot and glistening and looked right off the grill. My steak looked dry and was lukewarm to the touch. They had clearly been cooked at two different times. I am guessing that our order got screwed up and mine was made long before (then sat forever) the rush job on my kids. My kid's baked potato looked great compared to mine that was again cold and looked as if it might have been dropped. Our side of asparagus was also lukewarm. It must have been prepared with my steak and not my kids. I refused my meal due to it looking inedible. It was that bad. They took it off the bill and I still tipped our server as if it was there. It wasn't her fault our experience was horrible. I figured a manager or owner or someone would come over and offer an apology for things not being up to what a consumer would expect when they are paying for a nice meal. No one did. Please use caution when...
