What has happened to the place we loved? Where do I start... 1st I left several of messages, when I say several I mean at least 10... I always got an answering machine saying “we are overloaded on phone calls & it’s a very busy time, please be patient but we will call you back.” Good luck with that call back, mine took forever & fellow friends have had the same problem. Ok during this time our world is going through let’s give grace... I didn’t complain or say one word at how long it took to get a return call to book an RV spot. When I finally got a call back she said “we are just completely full this summer, let me take a look & see if I can squeeze you in.” I thought thank you so much so kind of you, well at least until I found out that was a lie. They charged my card immediately which was never what they use to do, but that’s fine... I let her know we wouldn’t arrive until around 9-10pm the start date for our trip. She said no problem, just pull in & set up we’ll see you the next day, which is what the policy always was. ||||When we arrived I was in complete shock thinking I was going to see every spot taken since I was told “we’re completely sold out, let me see if I can squeeze you in” the park was the deadest I’ve ever seen. Which that particular week we’ve gone for years & it’s usually lighter but still has some people. We were shocked at how dead it was, but happy just because of COVID. We get to our spot and they have their empty rental trailer in our spot & 5 more in the row on each side, so it’s not like we could park & set up in a spot right next to what was supposed to be ours. Because she had told us they were booked full we didn’t feel comfortable Just setting up anywhere. We ended up staying with family that night & just parking on side of park. ||||Here is where I have a big issue with ECHO and their customer service now... We went to office & the younger girl in office was very nice & said the lady that booked us & does bookings just left for day ( mind you it was 9:15 am) maybe her day off... she looked at computer & couldn’t find us at all... then she found us under my credit card, but incorrect name. Long story short she apologized and said well let me call “Tom” and get ok to move your spot. She explained about 15 different spots that were available for during our stay. I asked because I was curious, the voicemail says they’re to busy to take calls, she told me that the park was completely full, The young lady was nice and completely honest, I don’t want her to get into trouble so I will leave her truthful response alone, because she clearly tells the truth. Mr. Tom comes up & she said what had happened & his nasty attitude & response was “well that spot may work for them but not us” the young lady said “I checked and no one is booked anywhere in there.” He said “fine I guess stick them there.” No I’m sorry we didn’t have your spot you Pre-paid for months ago available, or we will refund you the first night, absolutely Nothing but an attitude from Mr. Tom. Still being nice we left and went to set up & see our friends. The entire time we were there the park was only 5% filled. I witnessed Mr. Tom walking around motor homes & trailers snooping which that bothered me more than anything. ||||The pool was very dirty... food like French fries floating and chips. I took the net and cleaned the pool everyday we were there. Trash everywhere & no one there to clean up anything. Friday when bar/Restuarnt opened, our food was disgusting. My sons hamburger was hard as a rock. He was so excited it finally opened because he always loved the grilled hamburgers & cheese sticks ( they don’t have those anymore either) all our food was really bad. They clearly don’t have the same crew cooking anymore either. ||||In the middle of our week after talking about the first night not having our pre-paid spot available and then dealing with waiting for Mr. Tom to make change, this all took up extra time out of our vacation, we went to office & asked get a later check out. Again the young lady called Mr. Tom on the phone & we could hear the entire attitude over phone. We just asked instead of 11 check out 2pm no big deal she said since park wasn’t full. On day of check out we get a call from the lovely lady who does bookings & lies saying “ check out was 10 ministers ago and ya’ll haven’t pulled out, what’s going on. I first asked oh is someone supposed to come in spot. She said “no but when are you leaving or I need to charge you another day” I said did you speak to Mr. Tom & the young lady who works in the office? She said “yes I know about the booking & spot taken mix up. If you had let us know you weren’t coming in until late we would have moved rental trailer.” So wait let me get this straight, you’re trying to blame us our pre-paid spot wasn’t ready, when I did give you a time. I then explained because of mix up we came up Wednesday and asked to check out at 2pm instead of 11. She said “no one told me that and I doubt someone told you that or they would have told me so it’s documented and set up in computer.” I then hear her ask the young lady who has been very nice the entire time, she Yelled at her & was very rude telling her she doesn’t have the authority to make those decisions.” and then polite young lady said “ Mr. Tom ||did ok it.” I was just done at that point I said were getting everything done & we’ll be leaving. By law they are required to refund us in full for the first night completely and then they can have 20.00 for the extra 45minutes over we were. Unbelievable how rude & nasty over their mistake. I’m not sure who these people are running things there but it’s gone downhill bad & costumer Service is an F now. We love this place, but if this how it’s Going to run we...
Read moreUpdated Sept 2024. I am updating my previous review (*) Something has gone wrong. I called multiple times in August to make my reservation or to ask a question but I got no call back after leaving messages on the phone and with a desk person who seemed unable to give me an answer. Because of multiple failures on their part, I made other plans. My previous review below stands.
(*) I am writing this review a few days before my departure while everything is fresh in my mind. Echo lodge sits at a beautiful location along the California side of the Colorado River. It is between Earp and Parker Dam off of 62. The majority of spots within the lodge park are mobile homes and Park models; own properties. There are RV spaces on the water front and at the north end of the park. There is plenty of dog grassy areas. The price which I paid was a good price for me, however, there are some negatives which were unexpected that brought me great concern. I will list the negatives which caused me concern. TRENCHING: When it pours down rain there is a serious risk of erosion which can wash away the very foundation of your parking. To avoid this, visitors dug trenches to direct the water away and into the river. This trenching is not done by park employees. Parking on the sandy waterfront seems to be at your own risk. LAUNDRY: There are some wash machines and some dryers outside behind the store/office. They are the dirtiest machines I have ever seen and because they are outside, using them during cold days is very undesirable. ( I never used them. I couldn’t bare to put my things into those machines). BATHROOM/SHOWERS: I was pre-warned by other residents. I never used them. NOISE: I understand that Echo Lodge seems to be more of a party place in summer and that seems to carry over to a smaller degree in off-season. It doesn’t help that a lot of people seem to be on California time instead of Arizona time. The office personnel said that the park is run on Arizona time because it’s so close to Arizona and the closest town “ Parker” is in Arizona. However, there are those who insist that they can party and play load music another hour because “This is California not Arizona. 5.WATER: Gross is all I can say. Change your filters often. DOGS: Let me say this first, I have a dog. He is a 12lb Shih-tzu that travels with me. I keep him on a leash and have NEVER NOT picked up after him. I always carry a pocket full of disposal bags. Because I take great care in picking up after my dog, I get disgusted when others do not. I have concluded that it’s not the RV people who don’t, it’s the Owners who allow there dogs out to defecate on the roads and common areas at night that just walk off and leave it. Also, There doesn’t seem to be a rule against vicious dogs that owners bring into the park. Absolutely, vicious dogs should be banned from any RV campgrounds and the top banned dog should be PITBULLS. I just about lost it when two PITS came charging toward my ShihTzu. Heck! I was more afraid than he was. MAIL: This park DOESN’T ACCEPT USPS MAIL. This makes it undesirable for long stays. However you can receive UPS or FED EX. Now, there were many friendly people in this park and I had no issues with management. They were kind and willing to help when I entered the office. Yet, I have decided not to return next season to this park. I will try out other local options to see if there isn’t something more...
Read moreMy friends and family have all stayed at echo lodge for years. I actually proposed to my wife on the beach here. We used to love this park. It was our summer home away from home. Our happy place. So many happy awesome great memories here. But in recent years the park a slowly gone down hill with a string of new manager's. The last managers to run the park before we had enough was John and Amy... They were hit or miss when it came to service.. once my wife my one year old son and I came out for a weekend bringing our friends and their two young daughters.. We had the first spot on A row just outside the paradise bar and restaurant. We got out there Friday morning set up our trailer which we kept in storage there. We began to enjoy our time down by the water. After a couple of hours we went back to our trailer to chill off in the cool trailer. Right as we got all our kids to sleep the power went out. Not just our trailer but the whole row running off the first breaker. They promptly started working on it and got it back up in about a half hour only to have it go out again. This time it took a little over a hour and a half to fix.. Mind you in the middle of June temps out at the river are in the 100 to 115 degrees.. When I asked John how much longer it would take he told me he was tired of my f#@king mouth and I could leave the park if I wanted to... Needless to say I was pretty angry and ready to fight but held my temper for my wife and young son. Shortly after John offered us to go in the bar to cool off and we could have a free soda. Like I said in the beginning of the post John and Amy were hit and miss as later John came and asked if we wanted to move to another spot at the very end of A row where there were no power issues. The next trip we stayed in the first spot on B row just next to paradise. The electrical hook up Was A fifty amp instead of thirty like the rest of the hook up in the park. John just happened to be driving by as I discovered the issue. He expanded that he and Amy had the breaker upgraded for their coach when they first came to the park and had not changed it back. The positive no power issues But we didn't have a adapter. John was very cool and got us an adapter from the store free of charge. But upon leaving I discover the adapter had melted. Luckily it didn't catch on fire while my family was in the trailer. I posted pic of the adapter.A few trips later we came out to find our trailers upper rear corner of our roof had hit or been hit by something. As I said earlier in this post we kept our trailer in the echo lodge storage and had the staff pull out our trailer and but it back for us for and additional fee.. When we told John and Amy about it John told us well you have insurance right... There were other instances that I could get in to but I feel I've gone on enough.. I heard John and Amy left or were asked to leave shortly after my family took our business elsewhere. Hopefully the new managers are doing...
