I have to say I was a little impressed about the new vibe the sun lodge gave out with the new renovations. Ive been coming here for over two decades with my family, and we love to see the dusty old building get some band aids thrown on it. The chicken Tenders are to die for, you will really need to plan your funeral after you get your bill though, talk about mountain prices for Syco food. Even though the new building looks nice, the staff seem disorganized and sloppy. What bothered me the most is seeing the general manager make his employees feel uncomfortable the whole night while he slumped over the host stand. Very rude, and fake. 20 years ago I had to wait tables to get my way through collage, I know how rude people can be and how terrible co workers can be. This could be a fun place, but it needs happy vibes. ||||My family has been eating here a few times a month after skiing and we have had mixed reviews on the staff. Every time we visit there is a different staff team, witch indicates to me, that there turn over is fast, and they cant keep employees. One nights we went out to eat, my husband talked to Rich the manager, and Rich was so sick he couldn't even talk, and he was coughing all over him, well my husband got sick from that little chat witch him. and we all know how men are sick. and he was sick for almost three weeks. ||||it is convent and there isn't much else around, but I rather support locally at the bromley market then this corporate sad house of a...
Read moreThere’s a remarkable “je ne sais quoi” charm here; an unfrilled welcome into the cozy home you love to be in. |It’s festive and fresh but really truly comfortable from the moment you walk in. |The staff is genuinely warm and professional, and Robin at the front desk is a gem of a person. |I have stayed twice since they reopened and both times wanted to linger in the lobby on the couches by the fire and take it in-you will too. |The restaurant is EXCELLENT. I’ve tried the hummus and veggies, the chicken tenders, deviled eggs, steak frites, and chicken sandwich. I have high marks for all but consistently across the board, everything has made me say “the Chef treated this dish right”. Wine menu is solid and there are awesome cocktails. Our server Eric is a professional through and through. |The rooms are exactly as comfortable as you would hope they would be. Beds are great, shower water pressure is solid, there’s a mini fridge, and the hotel shampoo and conditioner are actually really good! I have NEVER said that in my life. |Some rooms are ski in/ski out, some face the mountain (cool to see the other skiers) some face the road (you won’t notice much because the view over the valley is stunning) |I say all of this as both a local who is glad this is a part of our community, a seasoned hospitality creator, and a mom of a toddler who agrees on all points except the cocktails. Did I mention they have maple milkshakes? |These guys are...
Read moreWhen we booked the Lodge we didn't really know what to expect. All I remember when speaking to the man who booked my reservation was "wow, that guy really loves his job!" So when we finally arrived, late, I was happy to be greeted by the same gentleman, Rob. He kindly checked me in, made some restaurant calls and recommendations for us to take our kids to and we were on our way.
The hotel and room itself is what you should expect from a ski/mountain lodge, no frills. The room was basic and the beds a little too soft for my liking but I could be picky. The heat in the room was left on but Rob was quick to bring us a box fan to fix it up. They have a bar open on the weekends and a kids lounge downstairs that the kids wouldn't leave. We left them there while my wife and I stayed in the lobby watching tv. They also serve a decent breakfast in the morning.
Normally I'd give a place like this 2-3 stars but when you have staff like the aforementioned Rob who goes out of his way to make you comfortable, that in and of itself, is worth an additional 1-2 stars. Go here if you have children and want a relaxing time and don't mind making...
