Resort Nice; Pick your cabin wisely. We stayed in “Not Too Shabby” and it was not worth the money I spent. If it weren’t for the resorts indoor pool and how well the resort itself was kept up, I would have given it one star. I’ll start with the positives of the resort and cabin. The heater and gas fireplace in the cabin worked well. The outside decks were sturdy and the views from the resort as you walk up the road are beautiful. The resort is easily accessible and slightly away from the city so you don’t hear the city action. It was very cold while we were there so other than my children, there was not a lot of noise outside. The cabin was decorated for Christmas, so that was a nice touch. Now for the negatives. When we arrived and tried to cook breakfast the next morning, the frying pan was destroyed as well as the large burner knob was broken, so we had to go to Walmart and buy a griddle to cook on. The water was murky and we called the cabin owner to see if it was okay to drink and received no answer. The outside jacuzzi never worked and there were no instructions to tell us how to use it. We tried turning the temp up but it stayed cold the entire time. I emailed the owner to ask if there were instructions and included the defected items we noticed and received to reply. We called again and no reply. The electrical and satellite tv wires are hanging all over and are easily accessible to children, so if you have a busy little one, I would advise against renting Not Too Shabby since the wires are not secured properly. The pool table downstairs was generally good entertainment as long as you aren’t strict about your billiards playing, because the balls roll to the middle of the table due to unevenness. We also purchased new tips for the pool sticks because they were all broken. I’m not sure if a mini blind was purposely missing from the living room but one window had no blind and many others are broken and your neighbors can see in, specifically in the bathroom. The washer and dryer are tiny and we had to dry one load four times before it was dry, so when you wash clothes be prepared to start early and wash in small amounts. We used the pull out couch and it was filthy underneath and the mattress had black flakes of stuff on it. The jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom had a faucet leak. Not sure if this was due to maybe the pipes possibly freezing but we could not get the faucet to turn completely off. I can say that the owner promptly responded to our email before we arrived but once we were there the multiple times we phoned and the one time we emailed we never received a response. I don’t know about the other cabins at Hidden Springs, again the resort itself seems really great and it is well kept and they salted the roads each night at the resort when it iced, BUT I would not recommend the Not To Shabby cabin unless you get a significant discount, you just want a place to spend time with your family and the “Shabby” environment does not bother you or it’s completely updated with working appliances. My family was especially disappointed that the jacuzzi did not work because if it had we would have probably looked past he rest of the defects, but thankfully we made the best of it and enjoyed our time being together. Next time I spend $1,700 for 4 nights it will be somewhere that all the amenities are actually in...

Hidden Springs Resort – Honest Family Stay Review

We stayed here for 6 days with a family of nine. Check-in was quick, and we appreciated the gated entrance for added security. The resort overall looked nice, and if you get a cabin with a view, it’s absolutely stunning. Ours didn’t have much of a view, but that wasn’t a big deal.

The main issue was cleanliness. The cabin wasn’t fully ready: no towels, dirty dishes still in the dishwasher, and the hot tub was slimy and green — clearly not cleaned in a while. One of our family members used it before we realized. The windows were also noticeably dirty, along with other small signs the cabin hadn’t been properly cleaned.

To their credit, once we contacted them, they brought towels quickly and sent someone to drain and refill the hot tub — though it didn’t get a proper cleaning.

The cabin itself was spacious and well-stocked with a full kitchen, Blackstone grill, washer/dryer, pool table, arcade machine, and a home theater setup (though the theater seats were extremely uncomfortable — a couch would’ve made more sense). The private hot tub and outdoor seating were nice touches once cleaned.

Beds were just okay — not the most comfortable, but they worked. For $1,500, we expected a little more refinement, especially when compared to a nearby condo we stayed at that was spotless and included a lazy river for less money.

Important heads-up: If you’re traveling with toddlers or small kids, be aware that some cabins have steep, open staircases. Our 3-year-old nearly tumbled down one. Not necessarily the resort’s fault, but definitely something to plan for.

Also worth noting: Some of the features listed on the website were missing — like the dartboard. We were excited to use it as a family but found it had been removed, even though it was still advertised.

Final thoughts: The stay was decent and the cabin had potential. But for the price, we expected better cleanliness and accurate listings. If you're considering staying here, do your homework and read recent reviews...

Location to Dollywood is phenomonal. In short not worth the price paid! Looking at pictures or on the surface of this place (Joy's retreat) it is good, but when you get there it's pretty low quality, unkept, and janky.

The cabin (Joy's Retreat) we stayed in had air conditioning that didn't work, it was 86 degrees when we arrived and turned it to 65 degrees and it only reached 74 degrees by day 3 only because we had to turn the basement wall unit air conditioner to low and strategically place the only 2 box fans in a path to get cool air to the main floor bedrooms. The ceiling fans were set to so low they barely circulated air and there were no controls to adjust them. There were ants everywhere in the kitchen. The floor in the main great room was super sticky like someone spilled juice and didn't clean it up. The basement toilet is up on 3 narrow steps, with a small sink, no shower. So no mobility challenges access for that facility option. The other rooms had beds that blocked the walkway where regular walking took "step around" so no mobility challenges or ADA compliance here. The hot tub outside is in a muddy and dusty corner on the excessively cobwebbed and dusty deck.

It rained when we went to Dollywood. This is when we returned to the cabin and found the shower tub combos had broken handles and shower heads that barely operates and the walls were peeling and chaff falling onto tlthe surrounding area. We also found you have to have your own Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc account to watch the TV as temporary access is not provided. We luckily have our own accounts however when we logged into them we found the streaming broken at best then wifi completely went down and became unavailable from the TV and our personal devices. So, we turned to the DVDs in a basket under the living room table, and NOPE just 5 obscure movientitlea with the $1.00 sticker still on them.

Just not a place I would recommendb there are other places that you would get what you pay for;Joy's Retreat...

It's ok, this is our first time at hidden springs, but not our first time renting a cabin. The cabin itself "wild hare" is good for two people. Has hot tub that's private, pool table, fuse ball table. The few things we didn't agree with was the shower was extremely small, can barely even move, and have to sit on an angle when on the toilet because of where the toilet paper roll is mounted. Bed is King size and along with pillows is very soft. The cabins themselves are nearly and arms reach to the next cabin, so if your looking for alot of privacy this isn't the place. However I do think this would be good for a large family with kids as the larger cabins we saw are higher up the mountain and there is an indoor heated pool which is nice for winter time.
