This is not a cabin I recommend for several reasons. First, the stairway leading to the third floor presents a hazard for small children. There was no warning presented in the booking information to alert us to that issue. Our second issue was the amenities provided. The listing advertised that our cabin would have all linens provided as well as one towel per person. While we were able to locate additional blankets throughout the cabin, we were unsure of their cleanliness or their usage availability as they were scattered across the tops of various closets along with other curtains, table cloths, and holiday decorations. We opted to not use those for the couch bed downstairs and were thankful we had packed our own. As far as towels, they did provide exactly 9 bath towels. There were also 3 hand towels in the entire cabin as well as 1 wash cloth. This lead us to purchase additional hand towels as well as wash cloths for our stay. In addition to the towel issues, the kitchen is advertised as full stocked. We found that to be less than accurate. There are no spoons for mixing or preparing meals. There are also no bowls for mixing or preparing meals. There is one cookie sheet in the property but not other over safe materials. We found the cabin to me more like rural camping than an extension of our home for vacation.
Our largest issues were the cleanliness of the cabin as well as the maintenance. The cabin is in need of serious updates in not only décor but also maintenance. Upon arriving we noticed the large, unadvertised second refrigerator in the living area. We were later informed by maintenance that it was there because the owners had not yet authorized the rental management company to dispose of it so they had to retain it in the cabin. We also noticed a Christmas tree located in the corner of the living room. We were visiting in the middle of June - exactly six month before and after Christmas. We would not have minded the tree if it was semi-attractive. However, it resembled a tree that had been left up, unattended for six months. There was also lighted garland strung across the balcony. It was falling in places and looked as if it had been hung by a six-year-old child. The curtains and rugs were in need of serious cleaning. The rugs in the bath downstairs had red glittery confetti on them. There were also loose boards on the balcony which caused serious anxiety as the mother of three children. Our biggest maintenance issues were the sink in the kitchen as well as the jacuzzi tub in the second floor bedroom. While maintenance was able to repair the jacuzzi tub in a timely manner, they did advise us that what was necessary was a replacement tub but the owners would likely not authorize it. The sink was also in need of replacement as there were parts of the sink located in the cabinets of the kitchen, but again, they were waiting for authorization from the owner to complete the repairs. The sink in the kitchen would only work if the water faucet was positioned in a specific manner. It made for rinsing dishes and, occasionally, even handwashing very difficult. My number one chief complaint however, was the duct tape holding the mattress protector onto the king beds on both the first and second floor. The residue around the duct tape indicated that the mattress protectors were held on this way at all time and had not been washed in quite sometime. We did not notice it until after our second night of sleeping which made us all extremely uncomfortable.
Overall, the rental management company has some things they need to address themselves, but the majority of the issues, I believe, come from the owners. They need to make a trip to their cabin, stay for some time, and see if it is somewhere they themselves are comfortable without access to any number of the locked closets or...
