We stayed at Mansion in the Sky October 20-24th (it has 11 bedrooms, each with a fireplace) and have attempted to speak with them about issues during our stay. I hate to leave a review like this, without speaking to them more, but we can’t seem to get a call back (or text). Upon check-in, we immediately noticed plumbing issues (one toilet on the main floor wouldn’t flush, one was leaking, etc)- so I reached out. They advised us to plunge the toilet (which we did) and if it didn’t help they’d send someone out on Saturday. Plunging did not work, which I advised them. I followed up on Saturday to get an ETA on the plumber, and the manager seemed surprised plunging the night before did not work. They sent someone out from the maintenance/cleaning company, who was prompt professional and fixed the issues. Late Saturday night/early Sunday morning, our entire family was awoken to fire/carbon monoxide alarms and the smell of propane gas on the basement and lower level floors. Several guests reported feeling dizzy, confused, nauseous - and when we reported it to the management company they were very blasé. They asked if the alarms had quit going off- which they did after 15-20 mins, and that we should all just go back into the cabin, open a window and go back to sleep. Please keep in mind that our group included a risk manager and mortician, and we were shocked that was the recommendation. Gas and carbon monoxide poisoning are serious and often kill entire families in their sleep. The manager advised us to reach out to her husband, as she was out of town, and we were told the gas company would be coming out. After an hour of waiting outside- keep in mind this was a family retreat, so we had elderly members of the family and various individuals with medical conditions sitting in cars/huddle together to stay warm, the Assistant Director of the property came out. He investigated the smell of gas, confirmed that a fireplace malfunctioned and that it was just allowing propane to flow into the cabin. He turned gas off to the property, and advised us it was safe to go back inside - by that time the propane smell hadn’t fully dissipated but could be tolerated long enough to open windows/doors. We waited to hear a follow up from the management company, or the gas company, on Monday as promised and heard nothing. I later learned that several rooms did not wake up until family checked on them, as their carbon monoxide/fire alarms did not work- which is frightening. I also learned that one room had open outlets, with missing face plates, right behind the bedside tables (which is another safety concern). As I mentioned, we have tried to connect to share these concerns and have received no response. I understand that things go wrong, I do, but the lack of customer service/follow up on these issues is shocking. We are very displeased, and won’t rent from this group again. However it is a pretty cabin, with a great view, and...
Read moreFirst of all we rented for 2 weeks total from the caving rental store. One smaller cabin called skinny dipping and one larger cabin the second week called Coppertop. Also I have tried to reach out to Barb to further discuss this for 3 months now with no response on how to resolve this issue without a negative review. So start with skinning Dippin, not a bad layout but extremely dirty I’m talking full trash cans food in the fridge, layers of dust in the bathroom and on lights, the bedroom just smelled so dirty I knew so I checked under the bed and it was a nightmare I mean it wasn’t just not cleaned from the previous coupes it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. The bees on the small deck that over looks a nasty old farm of some sort was full of wood bees so we couldn’t lay out there. We couldn’t even get the movie screen to work so we called the number on the wall and it was a rude man that told me he was not affiliated with the owners. Sadly it was suppose to be a vacay away from the kids and I would have rather stayed in a hotel but we made the best of it. Now to Coppertop which I am so disappointed by because this place could be amazing if it were taken care of at all,,you can tell this is not an individuals home it is clearly a company that does not care about its maintenance at all and it’s so sad. The kitchen was so disgusting there was a breast pump sanitizing bag with a milk bottle in the dirty microwave the fridge and stove are falling apart I mean literally and the faucet is about to fall off. The floors were sticky and gross along with all of the dishes so I had to clean them and the appliances before using. The bathrooms and bedrooms were dirty needed to be cleaned trash cans also had trash in them. The main trash was full never emptied, there was a full garbage bag, vacuum and broom with full dust pan sitting by the door when we walked in. The large glass doors were full of finger prints so of course they couldn’t have been cleaned. So now for the worst part the pool is so gross so dirty and not useable at all, we called and Barb said she would send someone out as they had all new cleaning staff and she was sorry 2 days went by with no one cleaning the pool so I called her again they finally came they day we left so we never got to use the pool area at all so sad for our kids because this place has the most awesome view and once you are up there you don’t want to leave very often as the drive is tough. There’s more but too much fun to even cover bottom line is sad could be a beautiful house if taken care of and not worth the money in this condition. Barb offered us a free night and we took it but I told her that wasn’t enough as we didn’t even get to use the pool and I had to clean the house but she has not responded to my...
Read moreWe rented the Million Dollar View cabin for the week of July 27 - August 3, 2019 and as much as we wanted to enjoy the week, there were multiple issues. My disabled mother-in-law rented our family this cabin so that we could get some much needed family time after my husband returned from his third deployment. The area, Wears Valley, is beautiful and the local shops are pretty amazing.
That being said, the driveway to the cabin is straight up the mountain, crumbling and all but impassable when wet. The carpet downstairs was awful with multiple large stains and places that the carpet tack strips were exposed and it would stab you in the feet if you weren’t careful. The hot tub was missing the outside cover and the wires underneath were exposed. The pool was unusable, murky and full of trash/debris and the smell in the pool house was unbearable. We had no TV all week, no hand towels, no wash cloths, the sheets appeared to be clean but the bedspreads were threadbare and dirty. There were no linens for the futon. The drier worked only part of the time. There was food and trash under the furniture, and the hardwood floors left your feet black after walking on them. There were no broom or mop available on the property. There were dirty dishes in the cabinets and cigarette butts and vomit on the upstairs porch. One of the upstairs showers flooded the main level bathroom whenever someone took a shower in it. The grill was filthy and covered in something I’m assuming was animal feces. The windows for our Million Dollar View were so dirty you could barely see out of them. The HVAC return filters were so dirty that they had to be removed for the Air conditioner to actually function. We spoke with the management company every day for the first 5 days and then to the owners on day 6, 7 and 8. After speaking with Barb in day 7 I was assured that they would get back to me and the situation would be handled. I had to call her back on day 8 after she did not return my call and she did not remember who I was or what our issues were. The management companies solution on check-out was to “compensate” my mother in law less than one nights stay and I have yet to hear back from Barb. No one would come out and fix or clean ANYTHING!! This is completely unacceptable. DO NOT waste your time or money...
