WET River Trips provided us with an incredible experience! My partner and I booked the 2-day South/Middle fork trip plus camping at Camp Lotus.
I'm going to start with the two minor pieces of constructive feedback. I want to get that out of the way because the majority of what I have to say is in support of the 5-star review I am leaving. It seems like there is a bit of room for improvement in the communication department. These are negligible things, but the check-in process and timing for meals at camp was a little unclear and took some investigating to figure out. We also had a minor complication day 1 where there weren't enough PFD's and helmets because staff were told last minute that we were being added onto another party's trip, so the gear wasn't added. That being said, they were very quick to bring replacements and it didn't delay our trip at all.
All of the WET staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and hospitable. Katie and Josiah were on site at Camp Lotus doing a lot of the cooking and meal prep. They were a joy to be around, extremely accommodating, and made us feel at home. Will was also there the first night and first morning. He was super friendly, welcoming, and all around a good guy. Honorable mentions go out to Ryan and Chad as well. I didn't interact with them, but my partner said they made the booking process easy and were consistently available to facilitate and clarify things along the way.
Walker was our guide for both legs of the trip(South and Middle fork). He was incredibly friendly, professional, and clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about rafting and guiding. It was such a joy to get to spend two days on the river with him. His laid back, down to earth attitude made us feel safe, supported, and confident when approaching the rapids.
Other noteworthy staff was Anthony, who was a hoot. His Kiwi brand of playful irreverence and free-spirited, zany charm added a welcome comedic atmosphere to the trip. We also enjoyed chatting a bit with Jo on the ride to and from the Middle Fork. She made pleasant, engaging conversation and also seems very capable and passionate about rafting and guiding. The WET staff really made us feel like part of the family. We will absolutely be back next year to check out the North fork!
SIDENOTE: I read the review left by Ash Jod and I wouldn't pay it too much credence. We had the joy of joining them for the van ride and lunch on the Middle fork excursion. They were very loud, entitled, and out of touch. WET provided an incredibly generous supply of veggies for our lunch spread in addition to hummus and PB&J. Jo mentioned that everyone should take a modest serving and that, after we all got a chance to eat, there MAY be enough left for seconds. Their entire group jumped to form a line which forced everyone else to the end since they set the precedent of where the line would be with their large party.
By the time we got to the table it had been ravaged. They barely left any scraps for my group and the guides. As I was still serving myself, people from Ash's party were starting to come back for seconds and I had to tell them that the guides hadn't even gotten food yet. Thankfully they backed off, but if I hadn't said something, the guides would've been left with hardly any food to get them through the day. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. They almost starved out the very individuals that were charged with ensuring our safety. After reading that review I had to say something to address it because you all provide exceptional service and I wouldn't say you're the problem here.
Also worth noting, we were happy with the amount of food we got! We made due with...
Read moreI have gone with W.E.T. twice now and both times has been absolutely amazing! First off the view, the vibe, the experience is just so beautiful, both relaxing, but action packed at the same time. Especially coming from the Bay Area, it’s so nice to just get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and be in nature. We actually tried the class 3 and 4 our first time river rafting and while it was a blast, if you are sitting in the front you should expect to be under water a third of the time. Our second time, we did a two day trip for class 2 and 3, which was much easier than our first experience, so if you are very new to river rafting, I would recommend going with a lower class first and working your way up.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOING A TWO DAY TRIP! This comes with two full days of river rafting with all your meals included! Lunches, you park your raft by the river to enjoy making your own sandwiches and dinner (first day) and breakfast (second day) are made by your tour guide in their outdoor kitchen. For dinner we had BBQ chicken and steak with a veggie pasta (veggies picked from their garden!). I mean… talk about not only a lovely campground with full working showers and toilets, but a delicious home cooked dinner! I was very impressed. You then sleep in tents they put together for you and wake up to eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, and coffee.
The best part is honestly the employees. I swear I called Krista on a regular basis to ask questions and request things and she was always such a joy to talk on the phone with and did everything she could to make sure our trip was nothing but perfect. We were even told by our tour guide; Krista reminded him multiple times to make sure all our wishes were taken care of. Johnny (request him!) who was our tour guide both times is just an all-around funny and entertaining guy. He really made the trip such an awesome experience where we could joke and laugh when the water was calm, and then be such a great instructor and kept us safe when the waters were tough. Also the best camping chef ever?
I have only gone with W.E.T. for river rafting and I don’t see myself trying out any other company since W.E.T. really knows how to make sure you have an...
Read moreJust returned from our 5th trip with WET. I have now done the 2-day middle fork twice and there is no doubt that is the way to do it. You get all of the rapids, but we also got to take our time and do some hikes to see some amazing waterfalls, etc. We went on Thu/Fri, which meant very little river traffic until the one day groups catch up at the very end. And camping along the river is amazing. Other groups come jetting by, and have no idea what they are missing! We had 12 in our group this time - Logan and Anthony as guides, and Johnny on the gear boat. They were 100% top notch, and I would call them again in a second. I'll be back soon.
This was my 3rd trip with WET. I took my scout troop twice on multi-day trips over the past 4 years, and decided to take my son and his friends for his 14th birthday. They loved it, and the guide on their boat, Andrew, was EXCELLENT with five 14 yr olds. The dads were with Jon, who was great also. I always go back to WET because, as a smaller raft company, they don't rush you down the river. If you want to swim, or jump off rocks, etc, their goal is to accommodate. They are very professional - we appreciated that they took their cue from us, and used good language, etc around our kids. They were respectful of our habit of saying a blessing before our meals (they provide the meals and they are always WAY better than you expect for a river trip). The only downer was we had to switch from the middle fork to south fork due to the fires. But, they tried to get an exception, and when they were declined, they switched itineraries without a glitch. I can't say enough about these guys. They are three for three, and we can't wait to get that middle fork trip...
