My family had the opportunity to stay at the Poland Spring Campground for a few days. It was larger and busier than our usual stay. We unfortunately had campers on the left, right, front and backside of us. Luckily, many vacationers may not care. If you are concerned with privacy, just be strategic and ask lots of questions before reserving your campsite. With so many visitors, it was amazingly clean and quiet with polite staff. We enjoyed our stay with our grandchildren and our two dogs. The kids loved the swimming area, arcade, and snack shack (Carnival food prices = $$). If you bring your dogs along, there are great trails for walking them. However, do not get too excited about the "dog beach" that is promoted. When I finally located the sign, there was a short, narrow path that opens into a very small beach area that might fit two dogs at the max. Maybe if the brush was trimmed away from the shoreline it may not appear so small. The campground is conveniently located a few miles from gas stations, Dunkin' Donuts, and Hannaford. Dispite a few minor issues, I would give it another shot and recommend this as a great spot to bring your family.

We chose this campground to stay for a week because it was close to my sister and her family. Unfortunately there is a $10 per person day use fee just to have them come in to our campsite for a cookout and visit. They justified the charge by saying our guests would be able to enjoy the amenities the campground offered. They would not have come to the camp if we had not been there because there is nothing there that interests them besides visiting us. The campground is very dark at night which made it difficult to navigate the hills and curves and avoid the washouts and potholes. They only have a few spots for campers as big as ours. The rest of the park is suitable for tents. The prime spots on the top of the hill are crammed in pretty tight and appear to be seasonal spots. They had a band set up on top of the hill behind our camper on Saturday night. The noise was so loud it was unbearable. Fortunately the power went out at 9:30 pm. Of course then we had to switch on our water pump so we could have water and nothing else worked. I will not return to this campground.

This is a very wooded campground! If you are not comfortable with driving your big rig yet do not camp here. The sites are very small and they are not graveled. The campground is very quiet. They charged a 15.00 dollar fee for my dogs. There is a 10.00 deposit for the gate key card. The card fee is not listed on the website so be prepared to put down the 10.00 deposit. If you are going to be late make sure you call well in advance as the office closes very early. The road into the campground is dirt and quite rough. They say there is a dog beach however it is so small I personally would not consider it a dog beach. With the camper and truck in the site we had approximately an 8 by 12 area that had a picnic table and fire ring. Last but not least it is not level. ( maybe for drainage purposes when it rains) there was what seemed like a trough at the back of the site.

Only nice part about this campground is the lake!... PSA... the office actually told me they don't refund even if you have COVID! They just ask you to stay at your site,... what about using the bathrooms and showers though? I wonder if the CDC would agree with this practice?!||||Pros: ||1. the lake itself is beautiful ||2. Great activities for kids, lots of planned things for them to do.||3. You can drive (be careful, go very slow on the bad roads so you don't damage your vehicle or hit the orange painted tree stumps in the middle of the road!) to the lake and park near it.|| ||Cons:||1. There is no beach at all, not even a spot to put a chair near the water.||2. The roads are HORRIBLE! Big ruts, sharp turns (hard to maneuver an rv) huge tree roots.||3. Its on a hill so walking or bike riding is all hilly.||4. Only ONE dump station and you end up blocking the road to use it.||5. Sites are very small and close together||6. Only two bath houses with 3 stalls and 2 or 3 showers. Lights shut off automatically at night leaving me in the pitch black.||7. Very noisy, lots of kids, noisy from 7 am till late at night.||8. Prices are high, especially for what it is.||9. Sites are not graded right, it rained and we flooded so badly that our outdoor rug/mat was floating! ||10. They didn't clean the site before we arrived (check in time is late too, 2 pm! So they had time!) we had cigarette buts and food on the ground at our site, see photos...||||Not for us, we thought we'd try a place closer to home but I'd rather drive further and have a nicer...

This was the worst campground I have stayed at in 4 years. The person checking us in was rude. The sites we were given were too small and to many trees to get into even though I let them know the length of my camper. I was offered another site with no sewer. As my stay was ending, the children’s camp, which was directly behind my campsite, decided to have a full fireworks display. We were not given any warning and it was so load that my dog tried hiding. There is no supervision of the kids here and they are riding bikes, yelling, and being very loud through out the night. I never saw any employees working or being involved with the campground. The grounds need a lot of work and my site was infested with fire ants. Don’t waste your money. Since I wrote this review I was able to have a conversation with the owner. He was polite and seeked me out to discuss my concerns before I left the campground. We discussed my concerns and was very open to the conversation. He explained that the campground was not made aware of the fireworks prior to that evening. He said he was contacting the town to discuss these concerns and ask for a heads up the next time. We discussed the other issues and I felt satisfied with his answers and concerns. The owner wants to have feedback so ho can continue to make his campground what he expects it to be. He went so far as to refund both myself and the person I was camping with, a one night refund. I feel comfortable changing my rating to a three and giving this campground another try...
