Rooms were nice and clean. Beds were so comfortable. The complementary toiletries were of high quality. The room we booked had a microwave and mini fridge, which was a nice size in itself. Tons of desk space, lots of charging ports. Plus they are a pet friendly hotel! You needed your room key for access to the pool, fitness center and laundry room, which is something I do like, its secure great for lone travelers. The pool is small, the fitness center also small but high quality machines and equipment!!! Showers are big. I love the bright lighted vanity mirror in the bathroom! The water gets hot, I do value that as we have an infant and have to wash up bottles, it makes it easier on the bottle washing duty. We got a lake side view and during the phone call making a reservation, being given a preference on which floor, I did like this. If there was a "bad" thing or inconvenience I had, was the front desk were out of quarters for laundry, but they did have laundry soap amongst a ton of other things available at their small store in the front. Including a nice variety of snacks, I didn't necessarily have to leave there for anything other than change for laundry. If we needed anything else wal mart was right across the street. Bottom line, any hotel can have thee nicest rooms, but its the customer service that will have me come back. I want to highlight Ben. He was super nice, super pleasant, and seemed happy to be there, he also seemed very genuine and not just going through the front desk motions. Also, eventhough there was a mix up between our reservation and another party's reservation, and an error that was not his, he ironed out smoothly and even lowered the rate of the room for the trouble. I'd stay there again just because of the fitness center alone but, also felt like we were taken care of. Which was nice because we were tired and didn't want to put anymore effort...
Read moreWARNING: Parlor Suite Kitchen is Unusable - Manager Was RUDE
I recently stayed in a Parlor Suite, specifically booking this room type and paying the higher price because the website advertised a kitchenette (burner stove, sink, etc.). I even confirmed the presence of a kitchen with the front desk in person while booking.
The reality was shocking: the "kitchen" was entirely useless. It contained the appliances but absolutely zero pots, pans, utensils, or cutlery. What am I supposed to do with a stove if I can't cook? Traveling with a 2-year-old toddler, this was an enormous inconvenience, as I desperately needed to prepare meals.
When I complained to the front desk, she apologized and told me I would have to go buy my own supplies from a nearby Walmart, assuring me the manager would "make it up" the next day.
Unacceptable Manager Response: The following morning, I spoke with the manager regarding the clear misinformation and the major inconvenience this caused.
The manager was shockingly rude and completely dismissive throughout the conversation. He continuously talked over me, focusing on irrelevant hotel amenities instead of addressing the core issue: the suite's primary advertised feature was non-functional.
His final offer for the misrepresentation and the entire inconvenient trip to buy supplies was a meager $16 discount, which I rejected. They made no genuine effort to apologize or account for the time and effort I wasted.
I have stayed in many hotels, and they usually go above and beyond to apologize and compensate for this level of service failure.
Bottom line: I paid a high premium for an amenity that did not exist in a functional capacity. Avoid the Parlor Suite if you need the kitchen, and be warned about the poor quality...
Read moreOur grandson's 8th birthday wish was to stay at The Red Lion, swim the entire weekend & enjoy the complementary breakfast. WISH GRANTED, dutifully experienced & enjoyed every second! We arrived Friday evening & stayed through Sunday morning. We spent about 93% of our stay at the pool & about 90% of that time he had the ENTIRE POOL to himself. There was a brief few hrs Saturday afternoon where other guests that were celebrating birthdays with a stay ALL GATHERED (not planned) at the pool & went crazy. The kids all pretty much knew each other from school or familia relations. It was a really excellent experience for my grandson to be involved in that & create memories that will resonate forever! We will definitely be back for future family celebration stays. We spent our time in a spacious 2 queen bed room equipped with a table & chairs, lounging chair & footrest, decent sized TV, mini fridge & microwave on the 3rd floor. I'm so amazed at how quiet it was THE ENTIRE WEEKEND! In fact I believe we were the loudest guests & I was a little worried we were being too loud Friday evening! When it came to actually celebrating his birthday we were a little bit worried about everyone being able to get into the room & when we had actually started gathering in the lobby the staff helped us out with options & it was so greatly appreciated (SERIOUSLY THE SATURDAY STAFF HAS NO IDEA HOW MUCH THEIR COMPASSION & CARE HELPED US ACCOMPLISH FOR OUR GRANDSON)! There really aren't any words or enough thank you's we could through their way to express our families gratitude. The next time we stay I'm going to reserve a room equipped with a kitchenette. I'm wishing we would have done that this stay it would have assisted us a little better in our specific...
