This was our first-time visiting Kernville. My family of 4 (8 and 15-year old kids) decided to take a road trip and our first stop was river rafting the Kern River with Kern River Outfitters. As I was researching a place to stay, I came across Sacred Mountain River Suites and we hit the jackpot! To visualize the property, I would describe it as a 2-unit stacked apartment complex. We stayed on the ground level (Earth Suite) and it was amazing! The unit was 840 sq. ft, complete with living area and big TV, a small kitchen and dining area, 1 bathroom and 2 bedrooms (Queen bed in one room and 2 twins in the other) each with their own TV. Did I mention there is a washer and dryer? ||||There is a patio table and several chairs to relax in on the patio outside the door. You are also a few short steps from the lounge chairs on the grassy area. We spent the evenings enjoying cocktails and relaxing on those chairs looking at the stars. There is also a bar-b-que for guests to use. Hidden behind the building is a lovely relaxing area for 21+. It is a peaceful, Zen area with an outdoor shower and 2 rooms with soaking tubs. There is a spa treatment room on the grassy area, but we did not have time to use it. At night, the outside area is lit up by strings of hanging lights. It is so magical.||||There is a great beach down the road that gets VERY crowded. Arrangements can be made with Wendy to reserve a prime spot at the beach. You just put your beach chairs, cooler, etc. out on the patio in the morning, and then take the less than 5-minute walk to the beach. When you arrive, you will find your beach area all set up. We definitely took advantage of this and LOVED it!||||There is a little general store that is only a 3-minute walk away. They have all the basic supplies and even have a kitchen that serves breakfast and lunch. It is only a short 5-10-minute drive into town which has lots of places to eat and antique shops to browse.||||We look forward to coming back to Sacred Mountain River Suites. It is a fantastic place to stay while...
Read moreLast weekend we were fortunate enough to have booked both the Air and Earth Suites to accommodate our large family|(6 kids - Ages 17-25) and a couple visiting from Australia. We were determined to celebrate Fathers Day relaxing in natural beauty away from the city. Only a little over 2 hours from our Ventura County home- the Sacred Mountain River Suites in charming Kernville was a perfect choice. Across the street from the gorgeous Kern river, the property also provides easy access to the river beaches and is less than 45 minutes drive from the breathtaking Sequoias found in the trail of 100 giants. Our family felt so instantly relaxed in the Sacred Mountain River Suites- the beds and linens provided are very comfortable and the living areas are well furnished and inviting. We cooked breakfast in the well appointed kitchen both mornings and chose to eat in local restaurants at night. ( Can't recomend the nearby "Ewings on the Kern" enough- food was crazy good) We spent our lazy days tubing along the river from a few miles past the River Suites and were able to float down and exit within about 3 minutes of our wonderful home away from home. We also explored Kernville antique stores , hiked some beautiful trails and chilled out on the deck of the Air Suite watching the magnificent nightly display of stars up in that area.|The owner, Wendy is a delightful woman who is obviously a perfectionist and the accommodations were absolutely spotless. She made us feel so welcome and even left us delicious breakfast breads , juice and a fully stocked Kerig Coffee machine upon our arrival, which we happily devoured . Logan - the grounds keeper is also very sweet and a long time resident of the area and super helpful with information about everything local. Highly recomend if you need to feel like a vacation from city life , but only...
Read moreI could not have asked for a more perfect getaway. The suite was beautiful and had everything I needed to relax for a few days. I took advantage of the massage/bodywork sessions that were on offer as well. The owner, Wendy has decades of experience in the practice and it shows. The location is peerless, and the attention to detail on every corner of the property made for a magical experience. I spent the days hopping from campground to campground along the river, playing in the waterfalls, literally until the road ran out and I had to turn back. On the way back, I had an incredible burger at a roadside joint who's name escapes me, but it’s the only cafe on mtn hwy 99. Can’t miss it. The stargazing at night was top-notch. I saw a great display of the Southern Taurid meteor shower and was able to brush up on my knowledge of the late summer night sky. One of the best parts was coming back to Sacred Mountain River Suites to sleep it off and attack the mighty Kern again the next day! I recommend at least one bodywork session for every two days of attacking the river. River attacking is hard work. 😎🥰 Thank you to Wendy and her family for the perfect place to stay and I’m looking forward to bringing my mom back to stay...
