Travel trailer owners beware. We booked site 62 online after looking at the picture and dimensions of the pad and site itself. Pad was listed as 30’ L x 10 W and the site was listed as 50’ L x 30’ W. Those dimensions couldn’t have been more wrong. Our pickup truck barely fit on the pad without sticking into the road there was no way our 27 foot long camper was going to fit on the pad. The office was not helpful, refused to offer us another site stating “the measurements can be a little off sometimes”, lied to us about it being possible for them to refund our money and we had no cell service to find another campground nearby and they were unwilling to assist with that. It took two days of us driving to the campground to finally get a refund. The Ohio river campground 15 minutes down the road helped us out tremendously and luckily were able to assist us with a site that night so we didn’t have to turn around and immediately drive 3...

Last time we camped at Shawnee State Park we had a great time as a family. Swimming, hiking, fishing, and many other activities for the family are/were available. We tent camp and the sites are decent, Staff is super friendly! Why the three star review? Simply put, the facilities need updated. The restrooms, the showers are in severe disrepair. With updated facilities, this would be a great place to camp! If you have a camper you wouldn't have the same issues. Maybe they've been updated since we had camped there last, but we fish there and visit often and it doesn't appear so. Still a great experience and would recommend this place...

I went into the forest hiking trail a little down the road which was really lovely.

There is a lake with a sand beach.

There are public restrooms (port a potty style in a cabin) with a soap dispenser in the wall and a spigot for water just outside. The spigot was locked when I attended yesterday, likely shut off for winter.

There is a large parking lot with many picnic tables and grilling stations where you could start a fire. There were also little corners to shield from wind where you could make a campfire. There is a dumpster at the edge of the parking lot as well as frisbee golf...

This place was pretty great. The lake looked to be in bad shape but that didn’t stop us from having fun. We ended up going to the swimming pool at the lodge while we were there (a little over priced but whatever...). All the staff in the camp ground was very nice and helpful. The price and quality of the wood for sale was pretty bad and overpriced but again it’s a state park campground so what do you expect... We will certainly be back again. Overall it was a great experience and the price for the site was very reasonable which makes up for the overpriced stuff.
