The décor was cozy; the beds were quite comfy; and the staff were very friendly, attentive, and helpful. My husband and I loved the continental breakfast, which provided a wide range of options and kept us full until dinner time. We also really enjoyed the hot tub and pool.
Accessibility
I have physical limitations and wasn’t able to receive all of the accommodations I was hoping for. The only rooms with accessible bathrooms have one bed. I cannot share a bed with my travel companion, because I need to sleep with various heating devices (heated blanket and heating pad) and a BiPAP machine. Subsequently, I had to sacrifice an accessible bathroom so my husband and I could actually sleep in the same room. However, I was able to offset this challenge by placing one of the pool chairs in the shower, so I was safer while using the shower.
The inaccessible bathroom was made up for in the breakfast options. I have celiac disease and a dairy allergy. The AmericInn offered many gluten-free options, including pancake mix, English muffins, and cereal. I was also able to choose among delicious fruit salads, eggs, hash brown, and other cold and hot foods and drinks. I looked forward to breakfast every morning.
The hot tub was also a decent size and quite comfortable, and the pool was very warm. It was comfortable to transition from the hot tub to the pool and back again; it was also lovely just to float in the warm pool for an hour. As well, I noticed that there was a lift for those who struggle to independently get in and out of the pool. The only downside to these recreational facilities was that the sauna would not get hot.
Overall Impression
This hotel was not extravagant, but it met most of our needs. It was more accessible in some ways than I expected (e.g., food options), but did not have other accessibility options (e.g., accessible bathroom in a room with two beds). Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed our time here, so-much-so that we stayed an extra night, at the low price that we originally received when booking a month earlier. We will probably visit this hotel again, and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to...
Read moreABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SERVICE! We were there for a wedding the weekend of September 9th, 2017. They completely messed up on charging the wrong rooms to the wrong credit cards, charged my SIL 2 nights even though she had cancelled her reservations, it was a complete hassle that caused us all to spend a lot of time of the phone trying to figure out who got charged for what and who should have been charged for what, not to mention my SIL account having $420 withdrawn from it for 4 days while this all got figured out when she didn't even stay there. I had called and talked to Tony to see if there was any sort of compensation they could do for the ginormous hassle that was caused. He was extremely rude and me and told me "well I fixed all your problems, I don't know what else you would expect me to do". Well, first of all, the HOTEL caused "my" problems, obviously you need to fix them. Again I told him there has to be something they can do and he responded with "well I can't give you any sort of a credit so what else would you like me to do?" I said, " well, I don't know, a free nights stay at one of your hotels or something then if you can't discount our rooms", and he literally laughed at me and said "no, I can't do that." And instead blamed it on the bride who had called and made the reservations saying "I told her this would get confusing"....dude, you are connected to a conventions center, you have weddings there all the time, this kind of thing shouldn't happen and if it does, you should take care of the customers who dropped THOUSANDS of dollars there that weekend for the wedding. I was extremely upset by the time I got off the phone with Tony and let him know that I would be writing this review and spreading the word of their terrible customer service. He didn't seem to care. I will NEVER stay at another Americinn again. A multi billion dollar company and they mess up that bad and can't do anything to say they are sorry for the confusion but instead were rude and passed the blame.
On a good note, housekeeping...
Read moreThis is our second time here and our first time bringing our dog with. Very wonderful that they are "pet-friendly". However, you cannot, under any circumstance, leave your dog in the room alone. We wanted to sit in the hot tub for half an hour and even with a kennel were not able to. We had to put our dog in our vehicle (left running with the windows down) to go sit for half an hour. Dogs/Pets are also NOT allowed in the breakfast area from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. So, in order for us to have breakfast, I had to stay in the room while my boyfriend ran down to grab food so we could eat in the room. If you plan on coming alone with your pet plan on not being able to eat breakfast, as they cannot be in the breakfast area and cannot be left alone in the room. For allowing dogs they are not very dog-friendly.
With us having to be in the room with her at all times but her also not being allowed anywhere we decided to have Blackwoods deliver to our room. It is free delivery to the hotel rooms as advertised in the rooms. My boyfriend went down to order and pay. A woman at the front (in the restaurant) was on a, what seemed to be, personal phone call. A different gentleman attempted to help (thank you) but he was new and was unsure of the delivering policy. He waited for her to be done on the phone and she stated they were too busy (Sunday night, Dec. 22nd) to deliver. So he had to go get our food when it was done.
The hotel did upgrade our room for us having to wait for a room to be ready when we got there after 3 p.m. The housekeeper who helped with our toilet was very polite.
Will definitely be back again, maybe without our dog next time. We love the hotel and the food is...
