I was disappointed in this HI Exp & Stes. When checking in, the lady was not friendly or welcoming. She was efficient but sterile and did not make me feel like a valued customer as I am accustomed to receiving at other IHG properties. She did not tell us that our room would not be serviced during our stay. I would not have been surprised as we have encountered this at other locations; however, we were also told up-front. Those other states had restrictions; whereas, SD does not. We were scheduled for 3 nights and I have no issues with asking for towels if needed, but leaving only a small partial roll of toilet paper (with no refill) and only enough shampoo for one shower is not acceptable if the room is not going to be serviced. When inquiring the following morning, the night manager's response was simply, "No." There was no offer to put together the items we needed or anything. Just that I could ask when we got back that evening. Of which every evening had a line of people at the desk and after a long day was not fun. I asked on our last day if they had a stamp I could purchase and the same night manager said, "No, we don't have any." And that was it. No direction to local post office or anything. I did comment to him about it not being a good experience and when I asked for a card he gave me the general manager's card. He also had a disheveled look as if he had just woke up which he should have been awake for the past 7-8 hours if he was working..
I will give big KUDOS to the staff working breakfast. They were very friendly and started our day very pleasant. The younger gentleman was quite helpful and doing multiple jobs. The older gentleman was pitching in when things got busier. And the lady was really hustling in the dining area. They were all cognizant of the current state of the world and mindful of others. Again, they did a great job and although breakfast was somewhat limited, it was still plenty and tasty.
Our room was fine, but I do not like sharing shampoo, conditioner, shower gel with people I don't know. This is not a positive move for IHG.
This location was good for being centrally located, but I believe there were other locations which would have been just as convenient. I personally would give another facillity a chance before staying here again. It wasn't worth the few dollars of savings.
My cleanliness vote above is strictly for the lack of adequate supplies (shampoo and toilet paper). The room itself was clean as far as...
Read moreOur stay was for 2 nights. The 1st morning we had an all day tour booked and had to rise early. We left a “Privacy Please/Do Not Disturb” sign during our whole stay on the door. As we were leaving for our tour, we could hear the chatter of the 3 men housekeepers talking across the halls and rooms from each other, knocking on doors with their “housekeeping” intros. The next morning we intended to sleep in till 9:45 (check out is at 11) as we had 400+ miles to travel on our motorcycles and had planned our trip around the upcoming weather/rain due on our path. However, one of the housekeepers was knocking on all the doors before ours saying “housekeeping” a bit earlier than 9 (and our Do Not Disturb sign was clearly on our door) approaching closer and waking us. He still knocked on our door despite the sign to which I within seconds opened my door and asked “Why would you knock on our door when the sign is clearly here on the door? Have you not been trained that this clearly means to not knock or make the loud noises you are making all throughout the hall? We have been hearing, as well as all the sleeping guests I’m sure, your raised voices chatter and personal talking about your personal business for the last few minutes because your voices are raised, speaking rooms away from each other”. He said “Oh” and nothing else and I closed the door and called to speak to the manager on duty. She apologized for them, agreed they shouldn’t be knocking on doors with the signs or making loud noises and speaking of their personal matters loudly. She said she would address it. I think she did because within minutes the loud talking amongst the housekeepers stopped. We departed within 30 minutes, much earlier than we had even planned to awaken. Not fully rested as planned. This is not the first nice hotel this has happened at. So when we took our keys to the front desk, I thanked the manager for taking the time to speak to them. She thanked me for letting her know of the occurrence. I suggested they should take time occasionally to retrain housekeeping or a simple weekly huddle meeting to remind them that guests that check in are grown adults, are aware of check out times and if they need a wake up call, they know how to request one. Housekeeping I think, wants to rouse or wake guests earlier so they may complete their room cleaning earlier and leave for the day I’m guessing but I will not stay at this hotel again...
Read moreStayed here for two planned nights, and one extra night due to a blizzard shutting the state down, April 2-4. Arrived late the first night, but was able to secure a second room instead of the single room we'd booked, but the second room the door was open and was not cleaned! Had to go back downstairs and have them give us a different room. Both rooms had dirty floors, one of which the bathroom was covered in something that gave my youngest daughter a splinter in her foot! That bathroom also had a dirty toilet (the back where the hinges are). It was too late at night and already one dirty room being exchanged, so we didn't complain further. The beds were really comfortable, and there wasn't any noise issues except for a loud dog during the day on our blizzard day. The breakfast was boring as it was basically the same thing every day (never did get any bacon, just always sausage and eggs), and I had a rock hard muffin one day. The cheese omelettes are pretty gross, FYI. Also the eggs on the last day were burnt, and the OJ was out (I'm willing to accept the outage as a blizzard issue, but not the burnt eggs). Was disappointed in the guava/orange juice instead of the usual cranberry juice also.
I do wish the breakfasts would be coordinated between locations of the same hotel chain so that it wouldn't be the same breakfast choices every single day when traveling multiple states and utilizing the same hotel chain. We had one night at a HIE in Butte, MT, before the 3 nights here and never really got a change of food. Because of this, we chose a different hotel chain for our last night back in Butte, MT before...
