A beautiful place to stay! This was our 2nd time staying here and it was just as magical as the first time! The location is good as it is near the freeway. The Cottages are very cute and the grounds are beautiful. The decor in the cottages reflect the time period of when they were built but you also have modern amenities to make your stay enjoyable and comfortable. There are antiques throughout the rooms and historical photos that are interesting to look at. Most of the cottages can only accommodate 2 people but I believe there might be one that can hold 2 adults and 2 or more kids. The innkeepers( Ken & Lyn) are very nice and I would say one of the best parts to staying here! Miss Lyn is so kind! She is always available by text should you need anything. Lyn stocks the refrigerator with lemonade, some water bottles, and a few juices. She also had a few homemade chocolate chip cookies waiting for us at check-in! Breakfast is the icing on the cake for me! Lyn comes by in the morning , taps on your door, and leaves a big basket with 2 plates of the most delicious breakfast ever! It's different everyday. Egg casserole, fruit, yoghurt, muffins, biscuits, a printout of the weather for the day, a menu describing what she has cooked. The two times we have stayed there , we had family obligations we had to go to so we weren't there during the day but next time we hope to have a little more time to just enjoy the grounds. There is a large pond you can fish at , chairs to relax in , fire pits at your cottage, etc. If you are ever in need of a place to stay while in the area, I highly recommend Maison D'Memoire! or if you need a place to stop while on a long journey, this is the place to treat...
Read moreWe were moving across country, so when making reservations here, I inquired if there was room for a UHaul and if they would accept it on their property. The owner said it was fine, there was plenty of grassy areas to park. When we arrived, we parked under a tree in a grassy area in front of the cabin. The owner came walking down the road waving her arms, but rather than talk to us, she stood 20 yards away screaming. She ordered my son to get out of the truck and demanded he walk over and listen to her instructions on where to park because we could damage the tree. (The limbs were not even touching the truck) I moved and pulled over to express my apologies and tell her that I would not have parked there had she given me specific instructions, but she starting yelling again and informed me the reservation was cancelled and she was removing the key from the mailbox. She stormed off, with no intention of providing proof of refund to my credit card. I had to go to the main house and get a receipt, at which time I expressed that she had no reason for treating us in such a rude way.
Our move took place right after Hurricane Ida and we had already been driving 8 hours that day. She knew there were no available hotels within 50 miles of Rayne, LA, due to emergency service personnel pouring into the area, so the fact that she could do this to someone in the aftermath of a hurricane was disturbing. I would give it 2 stars for the lovely pond, but there are plenty of places that are equally lovely grounds. Fortunately, we did find truly professional...
Read moreMy husband and I wanted someplace relaxing to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary and found this gem on the internet. Booking was fast and easy. Great communication via email. This place was simply perfect for us! There are 4 cottages spaced for privacy. We never saw or heard a soul from our cottage and all 4 were booked. There is also a building that almost looks like a scene from a western movie (downtown storefront) that they use as a venue. There is a nice lake with a bridge and pier and a couple of places to sit around the perimeter of the lake. Fishing is allowed (bring your gear or I think they actually have a package available). Speaking of packages, we booked the "couples massage" package and it was AMAZING! Chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling grape juice (or wine) is delivered to your cottage. The spa is about 30 minutes away, but SO worth the drive. Alexis and Cammie gave the best deep tissue massages ever! Very clean, relaxing spa with professional people. Anyway- get that package! Lyn and Ken think of everything when they are getting prepared for you. The place was immaculate and well stocked. The extra touches were so unexpected. The decor was true to the period represented and made us feel at home. The rain shower and clawfoot tub was wonderful. Most importantly the bed was so comfortable. The sheets are the softest I have ever felt. We will be back for the peace and serenity this place offers. Thank you again for making our...
