Warm Slough near Rexburg, Idaho 🚣‍♂️ Warm Slough is a favorite spot to float. The water is calm and the current is nice and slow. It makes for an easy, relaxing ride whether you're in a tube, kayak, or on a paddleboard. If it's your first time, we recommend getting in where Google Maps takes you when you search “Warm Slough Rd.” The float from there is short and sweet—around an hour or so and you barely have to paddle unless you want to. If you want a longer float, you can always start farther upstream. It helps to bring two cars so you can leave one at the end and not have to walk back. There's a good amount of parking at the end of the float (check the map for parking area). If you start where Google Maps takes you, you will have only a 5-10 minute walk if you don't have two cars. It’s also super kid-friendly. The water moves so slowly that it feels more like a lake or lazy river. The kids can paddle around while parents chat with friends. It’s one of those places that’s easy to enjoy without too much effort. What to bring: Life jackets Tubes, kayaks, paddleboards, etc. Snacks or lunch/dinner (we roasted hot dogs before on the shore) Drinking water Towels - your kids will be cold after the float if they get wet Sunscreen Bug spray (mosquitos show up in the evening) Lots of people like to fish here too. We saw someone floating in a tube while fishing and some fishing in just their swimsuits. Warm Slough is such a simple, fun way to spend a summer day. Keep this area beautiful for all to enjoy! This is a hidden gem where you can float the Henry's Fork of the Snake River! Because of the winding path of the river, it gives you a perfect float around the peninsula then you can get out and walk a quarter of a mile down the road and do it again. The float takes about an hour and the water is shallow enough for kids to stand up in many places. Plus, the slow flow of the river allows you to enjoy the beauty of the river as you float, paddle, or swim the slough. So grab your tube, kayack, paddle board, or whatever and come float warm slough. Oh and...probably best to try during the warm months ;)

We floated from about a quarter mile above the campsite down around the band and back to the campsite. It was a fun float that took about an hour. We were on paddleboard‘s and had a lot of fun. That far away from you it is very slow moving water. The wind was almost pushing us back up stream. Where we did the water was generally about 3 feet deep in most areas. In some areas it is a little bit deeper. There were a lot of little kids floating with their families. It seems like a safe place to take kids.

Well as far as free campgrounds go it was pretty accessible it was right by the river but along with that came a horde of mosquitoes as soon as we stepped out of our vehicle we weren't even out of our vehicle for five minutes before we were completely attacked and all our belongings everything was being swarmed by mosquitoes so that's why I'm giving this 2 Stars I don't think there's enough mosquito repellent produced in a single entire year that would prevent you from getting bit by those things but if you're brave and willing to become a human pincushion for mosquitoes this is the...
