City View Motel — Hotel in Richmond

The City View Motel is a budget motel in Centerview Indiana, near Historic Richmond Indiana and the various attractions nearby (AMC Cinema, Warm Glow Candleshop, Wright Brother's Museum and so forth). Checking in was painless, though you could already tell by the condition of the lobby that this is a very old motel. Age doesn't matter, however, it is the condition that it is in that matters. I was given room 15 at a price of $50 dollars. It takes a lot for me just to drain $50 dollars down the toilet for no reason, but in this case I had to leave. I could NOT stay the night. The room, was horrible. The walls, which were white at one point in time, were stained and filthy. There is no controllable thermostat in the room as the room is still steam heated, so if you're to cold. Thats to bad. The Airconditioning was a simple window unit which was hastily installed and not properly sealed in the window. The carpets were worn out. A simple projection TV and a beat up refrigerator (Which was off when I got in the room) and an ancient microwave comes with the room. While all these worked it didnt detract from the horrible surroundings. The full sized bed was worn out, which made it soft, and seemed like the only clean thing in the room. The bathroom was also horrible. Lined in what looked like the original tile that came with the hotel (1963 I believe the desk person said) and original steel tub complete with lose drain cover, soap or shampoo scum, peeling paint, and a host of other pleasant things. The only thing I can say is, I found no traces of bugs of any kind. The door also had no locks, except for the door lock you'de find in a home. No dead bolt, nothing.||From time to time when searching for budget motels, you'lle run into a stinker or two. This most certainly is a stinker. If this is you're only option, I would...

I only had a brief experience with the City View Motel. Stopped in to visit a friend. Update: I've been a resident of the City View Motel for 3 months. The entire operation is accomplished by one man whom always seems content with his responsibility to please all patrons 24/7. I'm pleased to know that whenever necessary this man will go out of his way to make sure I have what I need to be comfortable and safe. He's almost always seen maintaining, repairing or having a friendly chat with a resident. The City View Motel gives you a lot for not so much money concidering it's managed by one happy man .
