2I reserved a double queen room in early April for a scheduled dance recital on May 9th and 10th- the studio had reserved a block of room like they do each year for the recital. Hotel staff called to confirm my reservation a few days before our stay and I confirmed with them again that we had a double queen room. Upon arriving at the hotel, I was told I would have a king room with just the one bed even though my reservation was for 2 queen beds. I was told the 2 queen rooms had been sold out for months. (I was there with 3 children who were part of the dance recital and one king bed was not going to work for us but we were stuck with it). When I politely complained that one bed would not work for us, I was offered a roll away bed for the 2 nights at an additional charge of $25 per night. I was already paying over $200 per night for this room. (I ended up going to Dollar General to buyb2 twin air beds to use.) Then I was told I would only get 2 swim wrist bands for Fri night since we had a king room- with 4 of us staying, 2 wrist bands was not acceptable. I was told I would have to pay $25 each for 2 additional wrist bands which I refused to do. The next day I returned to the desk to get swim bands for Saturday night- the lady was rude and again would only give us 2 wrist bands since we had the king room. She made a comment that if our dance studio planned to bring so many people to the hotel we had to respect other patrons rights to use the pool. She said they were limiting how many kids could be in the pool. I explained that I was supposed to have 2 queens and that she could check my original reservation but she again said it didn't matter because we had the King room so only 2 wrist bands would be given unless I paid $50 for 2 more- I did not buy the additional wrist bands. I found out later that our dance studio owner had requested to rent the pool that evening and was told no because not enough of the dance families used the pool. I was very disappointed and not happy about them wanting to charge me an additional $50 for a roll away bed each night AND another $50 for 2 more wrist bands. The worst part is that this is the 2nd time out of the 3 times we have stayed at the hotel for the recital that we got stuck with a king bed after reserving 2 queens! Be aware when making reservations that you may not get what you reserved and that the staff are not friendly and will not listen to legitimate complaints. I feel they were more interested in getting an additional $100 from us after they didn't give me the room I had requested and had no problem being rude to me. Poor customer service which was very disappointing.
Thr room itself was okay and the...
Read moreWe go to the casino frequently. They have a gnat problem that has been persistent for nearly a year now. On our last visit, the beverage center was so gross. The levator cup holders were all empty. The silicone rings that are in the bottom were sticky and dirty. So many gnats were sitting on the soda spigots and around the coffee creamer station. I let management know, and later, when I went over there again, all they did was fill the cups back up onto the dirty apparatus. Unacceptable.
As far as the casino goes, it’s always fun to play there. The attendants, security and cashiers are all pleasant and helpful. We have been gold card or platinum card members for years and I can say that the comps compared to other casinos in the area are lacking. They used to have decent gifts monthly for certain level of players. For some unexplainable reason, I was dropped from receiving mine, yet my husband has his. We always go together and we have been consistently equal as far as play goes. Talked to VIP, and they say that my ‘play doesn’t qualify me for the free gifts anymore’. That is a complete cop out as my play has not changed in over 15 years. So, needless to say, I’m a little pissy about being excluded from something that’s really so trivial, but it makes me wonder what else is going on in the background when it comes to qualifying folks for certain comps. I’ve asked for a review of my account many times and they just dismiss me and tell me they will review it again in a year.
The event center talent selection does seem to fit the demographic, but I think they’d attract more business if they’d appeal to a younger crowd. We miss the outdoor concerts and the big name bands!
The buffet has a great selection of foods. Their crab nights are hit and miss. Sometimes, it’s so salty and soggy that it’s disappointing. Other nights, it’s fantastic. Their brisket is outstanding. For the price we pay, it should be consistent and good. Our family likes to hold reunions there and the buffet seems to suit everyone’s tastes.
The hotel rooms are outstanding. We have rented every manner of room they have available. When we find something that needs to be addressed (lamp with a bad lightbulb/ missing chairs) we just call the front desk and someone is on top of it. The rooms are clean and well appointed.
We don’t golf, so I can’t speak about that part of the resort. I have walked a path around the golf course early in the morning and it is gorgeous.
All in all, I give the place a positive review, but the gnat problem needs to be...
Read moreBEWARE. On Saturday, June 22 2024 I tipped my chair with my coat on it, with my card in the machine and went to make a call 10 feet away. When I came back 10ish minutes later, I realized someone had cashed out my ticket for $138. I immediately alerted management and stated that I saw the woman that most likely did it or saw who did as she was walking away from the bank of machines. They were not concerned and didnt even ask for a description. They went to look at cameras and the security that remained there said I could go look for her myself. Needless to say she was no longer there. The slot manager returned to state that they knew who it was, they cashed in the ticket, and that it was a regular customer for whom they had a phone number and address. Their solution was that they could wait for the thief to come back in, use her players card, and ask her to return the money. If the thief refuses, there is no further recourse. The thief will NOT EVEN BE BANNED FROM THE CASINO. I asked them to call the Sheriff as there are no DCI agents working there on the weekend. They stated they could not so my friend called and the Washington County sherriff came to the casino. Very long story short, the sherriff stated the same thing and that I could not press charges. *I should state that I had been playing that machine for approximately 17 hours and had finally hit a hand pay of $1300. The state took every dime for back child support for my child that actually lives with me. I was understandably upset and that's why I left my machine in tears to make a phone call. The main point here is how poorly I was treated by everyone at Riverside from the slot manager to the head of security. They berated ME for leaving my machine unattended and showed a complete lack of empathy. They clearly stated that this thief is more than welcome at this casino and the thief is a regular patron. I have been a patron at this casino since opening day. I am currently a gold card holder but was blue card member until this year. This casino has gone steadily downhill for the past several years. Over the last several months I have witnessed more people untipping chairs and stealing whatever money is left in the machines. It has happened to me personally a couple times for insignificant amounts. The third time it happened I reported it to management and after an hour or so was asked to "resolve it between myself and the person who...
